Definitions

  • the invention relates to a dirty water inlet with a grate, a leaf retention basin arranged under the grate and a container provided with a drain, in which a valve controlled by a float is arranged before the drain, which closes the drain when in the container liquid is lighter than water.
  • a dirty water inlet of this type is known from utility model DE 93 11 176.
  • the known dirty water inlet serves for the drainage of heating basements. It is equipped with a permanently closed cap that only opens when water is entering and remains closed when heating oil or another liquid that is lighter than water enters the container.
  • This known dirty water inlet is unsuitable for removing surface water from streets, squares, courtyards and the like, because the container or the drainage housing has no storage volume and would therefore overflow when small amounts of water were removed and the float and the valve were thus arranged in the drainage stream are that due to the turbulence occurring there, a reliable closing of the valve when gasoline, diesel oil or heating oil flows in is not to be expected.

The result is that the incoming water, gasoline or oil mixture is collected in the collection chamber, the lighter liquid is separated from the water and floats up, and the drain inlet is closed when the water level in the collection chamber has dropped so far. that the valve connected to the float sits on the drain inlet and closes it.
