Definitions

  • the subject of the present invention is a heel piece of safety binding for ski boot including a gripper-sole body mounted on an articulated stirrup on a pivotally mounted plate on a mounted base and immobilized on a slide fixed to the ski.
  • This heel is intended to cooperate with a front attachment or stop associated with a ski brake liftable by the pressure of the shoe on a pedal articulated on the brake arms.
  • the position of brake close to the front stop is unfavorable, because it tends to hinder the introduction of the front end of the shoe, especially the sole, under the jaw of the front stop. It would be therefore preferable to place the brake close to the heel as is the case in other types of fasteners.
  • the heel piece according to the invention is characterized in that it is equipped with a brake ski placed in front of the pivoting plate, this brake being mounted on the base and articulated around an axis articulation transverse to the base and liftable by shoe pressure.
  • the distance between the pivot axis of the plate swivel and the brake hinge pin is further less than 70 mm and preferably less than 20 mm, so that the brake is always applied by pressure in the heel area of the shoe. This is desirable not only because of the pressure optimal exercise by the shoe, but also in due to the fact that the underside of the sole of the shoe which, in front of the heel, does not often not an adequate surface for actuation of the brake pedal.
  • the diameter pivot point is such that the distance maximum of 70 mm cannot be respected. To to reach this maximum distance, it is possible to reduce the diameter of the pivot, but the efforts on this and the play in vertical planes increases quickly with the decrease in the diameter of the pivot. The control of these parameters leads to an additional cost.
  • the pivoting mounting of the plate on the base is insured, in a mode preferred execution of the invention, by the commitment mutual and cooperation of at least one arch rib of circle in a circular arc cut, these arcs of circle being located between the pivot axis of the plate and the back of the base.
  • the cutting into arc of circle is formed in the swivel plate and the base has at least two concentric ribs cooperating respectively with each of the arcuate sides of the cutout circle.
  • the accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, a mode of execution of the heel piece according to the invention.
  • Figure 1 shows an axial sectional view along a vertical plane.
  • Figure 2 is an exploded view of Figure 1.
  • the heel piece shown essentially comprises a slide 1 intended to be fixed to a ski by means of screws, a base 2, of molded synthetic material, mounted on slide 1 so that slide longitudinally to adjust its position, a plate 3 pivotally mounted on the base 2 and provided with two parallel cheeks 3a, 3b on which are articulated a pair of parallel arms 4, 5 between the upper ends of which extends a cam (not shown) crossing the transverse bore 6 a tubular fixing body 7 forming simultaneously grip-heel as shown and described in patent CH 397,500 and as is well known of this type of fixation of which an example is the fixation LOOK 37, and a brake 8 articulated at the front end of base 2.
  • the base 2 has an extra thickness 9 in which is formed a housing 10 in which is housed a cylindrical body 11 having a rib helical 12 cooperating with a row of grooves obliques 13 formed in the slide 1.
  • the body cylindrical 11 is pushed against the rear of the housing 10 by a spring 14 and it is rotatable by a screw slot 15.
  • the plate 3 For its pivoting, the plate 3 has a cutout 16 with two edges in arcs of a circle concentric determining the geometric axis of pivoting of the plate 3 and located between this axis of pivoting and rear 9 of the base 2.
  • This cutout 16 cooperates with ribs 17 and 18 in an arc formed on the upper face of the base 2 on which comes to rest the plate 3. These ribs also determine the amplitude of the pivoting of the plate 3.
  • the pivoting plate 3 is retained vertically on the base 2 by a plate 19 having a tab 19a cut and bent at right angles down.
  • This tab 19a has two holes 19b in which are hooked two hooks 20a cut and raised in a counter plate 20 placed under the base 2.
  • the plates 19 and 20 are connected by a rivet 21 crossing the plate 3 and the base 2.
  • the upper plate 19 is covered with a cover 22.
  • the plate 3 also has, before the cutout 16, two pins 23 and 24 directed downwards and passing through the base 2 by a slot in an arc 25 centered on the pivot axis a of the plate 3.
  • the ends of a hunting horn spring 26 mounted around a stud 27 secured to the base 2 are supported.
  • the spring 26 has the effect of bringing the pivoting plate 2 back to a middle position after triggering. of the binding, by its action on the pins 23, 24.
  • base 2 has two stop faces frontal 27 above which two arms extend 29 parallel to the longitudinal axis of the base and the slide. Against these faces 27 lean the parts intermediate 8a of the brake arms 8, these parts intermediaries constituting the pivot axis of the brake with two branches 30 and 31. These intermediate parts 8a are retained from above by arms 28 and 29 of the base.
  • the parts 8a determine a geometric axis pivot b (figure 1).
  • the upper extremities bent at right angles 8b to the brake 8 are articulated in a brake pedal formed by an upper plate 32 and a bottom plate 33 fixed to the plate 32 and trapping the ends 8b of the brake.
  • the end back of plate 33 has a bent fork 34 retaining an axis 35 and letting the end pass a link 36 articulated on the pedal 32 by the axis 35 and the other end of which is articulated by means an axis 37 on an auxiliary piece 38 of stamped metal fixed by rivets to the arms 28 and 29 of the base 2, under these arms and between these arms.
  • Bar 37 is mounted in two cheeks 39 formed on the plate 38, of so that the bar 37 is substantially at level of the upper face of arms 28 and 29.
  • the joints of the brake 8 and of the link 36 are therefore integral with the base and therefore moves with the base when moving it on the slide 1.
  • the realization of the pivoting means by the cooperation of the cutout 16 and the ribs 17 and 18 made it possible to bring the hinge pin b of the brake closer to the pivot axis a of the plate 3 at a distance x while retaining a pivot (the ribs 17 and 18) of relatively large diameter and thus ensuring good stability of the pivoting plate 3.
  • This distance x can be without other less than 70 mm, which ensures in all cases a good actuation of the pedal 32 by the heel of the shoe.
  • the distance x can even be reduced to a value less than 20 mm.
  • axis of articulation of the pedal 32 on the base axis materialized by the axis 37, it can be very close, or even intersecting with the pivot axis a of the plate 3.
  • the cut could be formed in base 2 and ribs on plate 3. Cutting could be a simple dig.
  • the ribs could be replaced by a rib single more or less wide.
  • the brake could be devoid of a pedal.
  • the b-axis could be even more close-axis.
