Definitions
- the invention relates to a shoe retention element on a board gliding, in particular a retaining element of a ski boot on a ski.
- a ski boot is retained on the ski by an element of front retainer and a rear retainer, which are also responsible for release the shoe if excessive stresses exist at the connection between the shoe and skiing.
- each retaining element has a jaw carried by a body connected to the ski. Jaw is movable against elastic restoring force generally exerted by a return spring housed in the body. For the element front restraint, the jaw is usually movable relative to the body, or well movable with the body relative to a base secured to the ski.
- the shoe rests on front and rear support plates which are in principle associated with the front and rear retaining elements.
- Some front retaining elements are additionally equipped with a compensation, which is intended to lower the restoring force that the spring exerts on the jaw in the case of certain fall configurations. for example in the case of a so-called “pre-twist” fall, such a mechanism compensates increased friction between the boot and the ski, which delays the shoe release.
- German patent applications published under the numbers WO-A-9 108 808 DE 29 05 837 and DE 33 43 545, or also 33 07 022, on which the preamble of claim 1 is based describe a mechanism actuated by the support plate of the shoe, which acts on the return spring of the jaw, or on the jaw itself.
- One of the aims of the invention is to improve the compensation mechanism of a retainer, in particular a front retainer.
- Another object of the invention is to propose a retaining element equipped with a such an improved compensation mechanism that is simple to construct.
- This element includes a retaining jaw designed to maintain a end of the shoe resting against the board, the jaw being carried by a body intended to be assembled to the gliding board.
- the jaw is by otherwise mobile under the effect of the shoe's stresses against the force of reminder of a spring housed in the body.
- the element also includes a compensation mechanism controlled by an actuating member and provided for lower the restoring force developed by the spring on the jaw in response to the downward support force exerted by a support plate including a support area mobile rests on the actuating member of the compensation mechanism, according to a vertical direction downwards, the support plate being movable relative to a plate designed to be secured to the ski.
- a compensation mechanism controlled by an actuating member and provided for lower the restoring force developed by the spring on the jaw in response to the downward support force exerted by a support plate including a support area mobile rests on the actuating member of the compensation mechanism, according to a vertical direction downwards, the support plate being movable relative to a plate designed to be secured to the ski.
- the retaining element is characterized in that the support plate has on either side of the support zone with the actuating member two zones of carried from bottom to top of the plate against the plate, which define with at least a range area located on the back of the plate, two tipping lines privileged of the plate relative to the plate around which the plate support can tilt under the effect of variations in the support force of the shoe.
- the fact of making the support plate of the shoe movable in tilting around either of two globally oriented tipping lines in the longitudinal direction of the plate also makes the support plate mobile well in transverse tilting, which corresponds to a rolling movement of the boot above the ski, only in a vertical downward direction. This activates the compensation mechanism in the event of a complex fall where the shoe exerts a stress on the retaining element with a roll component, and / or with a vertical component.
- Figure 1 is a general view in longitudinal section of an element of retained before according to a first nonlimiting mode of implementation of the invention.
- Figure 2 is a perspective view of the pivot and its base.
- Figure 3 is an exploded perspective view of the various elements of the support plate of figure 1.
- Figure 4 is a top view of the support plate.
- Figure 5 shows the support plate of Figure 3 sectional view longitudinal by different longitudinal planes.
- Figures 6 to 8 show the support plate of Figure 4 sectional view transverse and illustrates its mode of operation.
- Figure 1 shows a side view of a retaining element 1 provided for releasably retain the front end of a shoe.
- the element 1 represented in FIG. 1 comprises a retaining structure 2 of the shoe and a support structure 3 on which the shoe sole rests.
- the retaining structure is largely known from the patent application published under the number FR 2 458 299, in particular the embodiment of the figure 10.
- the jaw includes a shoe retaining jaw 5.
- the jaw is carried by a body 6 with which it forms a monolithic unit.
- the jaw may have adjustment means to adapt it to the shape of the sole toe, in addition, preferably, the body has an adjusting screw 7 to adapt to the thickness of the shoe sole.
- adjustment means are known and are not part of the invention. They will not be described in detail.
- the body is pivotally mounted around a pivot 8 intended to be secured to the ski by via a base 9 located at its lower part.
- the base and the pivot are of a known type and are more particularly visible in FIG. 2.
- the base has a top view of a "U" shape, with two branches 9a and 9b which extend rearward.
- the body is in abutment against the pivot by two lines of support located on the rear face 10 of the pivot.
- the support lines are convergent, and they are materialized by two lower support zones 10a and 10b located at the base of the pivot on each side of the median plane of symmetry of the pivot, and a support zone superior common to the two lines, which is located at the level of the head of the body height adjustment screw 7.
- the jaw and the body are brought back to the position centered on the ski by a spring 11 housed in the body, one end of which is retained by a threaded plug 12 which is screwed into the front part of the body, and the other end of which rests against a substantially flat face 13 located on the front face of the pivot, by through an intermediate piston 15.
- the retaining element 1 also comprises a compensation mechanism intended to lower the force that the shoe must transmit to the jaw to to be released.
- the compensation mechanism includes a rod 16 embedded in the lower part of the jaw slightly behind the pivot, in an approximately vertical direction
- the rod is located between the two support zones.
- the lower end of the rod 16 protrudes under the jaw, and it is located between the two support zones 10a and 10b.
- This end of the rod provides a grip on the approximately vertical branch 18a of a reference 18 articulated around a pin 19 oriented in a transverse direction.
- the pin 19 is for example carried by a foil 20 attached to the underside from base 9.
- the return 18 has towards the rear an inclined branch 18b by which it is stressed in rotation, which causes a back and forth movement of the branch 18a.
- retention structure 2 which has been described is not limitative for the invention, and that any other suitable structure is suitable, provided that it presents a compensation mechanism of the kind described above, with an actuating member of this mechanism, which member here consists of not limited by reference 18.
- Such structures are described in the patent applications published under the numbers FR 2 640 882, or DE 29 05 837.
- the retaining element shown in Figure 1 also has a structure support 3 which is provided to support the front of the shoe.
- the support structure comprises a movable support plate which is provided for press forward 18.
- the support structure 3 has a support plate 21 on which the shoe rests, and a plate 22 which carries the support plate 21 and which is designed to be connected integrally to the ski.
- the support plate is in two parts, one pedal 24, which is surmounted by a covering 25.
- the covering has a plate of anti-friction material 26, which is intended to facilitate sliding side of the shoe.
- the covering 25 is for example made of a material plastic, and it is assembled to the pedal 24 by any suitable means.
- the pedal 24 is relatively rigid, for example it is formed by a sheet metal plate reinforced by a longitudinal rib 27. Optionally, it may have other reinforcing ribs.
- the pedal 24 has a narrower tongue 28 which forms the support zone with branch 18b of the rocker, or more generally with the actuating member of the compensation mechanism.
- the plate 22 extends under the pedal 24, and it extends forward under the base 9 of the pivot 8.
- the plate preferably has a recess on its upper surface 30 where the support plate 21 and the base 9 are housed.
- the plate 22 present in its rear part a reinforcing counter plate 31 which is provided to extend overall under the plate, and to cross plate 22 right through front and back. This counter plate provides the connection between the support plate 21 and plate 22.
- the reinforcing counter plate has on the rear a horizontal lug 32 which opens into the recess 30.
- the ear 32 rests on a shoulder of the plate 22, and it provides support to the rear part of the pedal 24 in a direction vertical down.
- it is the rear part of the rib of reinforcement 27 which is intended to come into contact with the ear 32, which gives a quasi-punctual range of the pedal on the plate.
- everything another suitable means of support is suitable, and in particular an added rivet head, or a particular shape obtained by deformation of the pedal or a rib on the ear 32 of the reinforcement 31 bearing on the pedal 24 which would be flat.
- the rear part of the pedal is fitted into the plate for hold the back of the pedal up and in a lateral direction, without obstructing its movement.
- the pedal on the rear a "U" cutout 29, which is engaged in a stud of the plate 26 so to achieve a lateral nesting.
- the cutout has a small tab 29a which is engaged in an orifice of the stud to make a vertical restraint towards the top of the pedal.
- the hole has larger dimensions than those of the paw.
- any other suitable means is suitable.
- the counter plate 31 has two ears 34 and 35, which extend in an approximately vertical direction along the contour of the pedal 24, on either side of the tongue 28.
- the ears 34 and 35 are hollowed out in their central part, and crossed by a lug, respectively 36 and 37, of the pedal 24 projecting from the general outline of the plate.
- the set is planned so that the legs 36 and 37 describe the recesses 38 and 39 of the ears 34 and 35 during the movement of pedaled 24. Upwards, the recesses 38 and 39 provide legs 36 and 37 with two bearing zones against which they are in support when the pedal 24 is in the high rest position.
- the ears 32, 34 and 35 of the counter plate 31 pass through openings in the plate 22.
- the openings of the plate are largely dimensioned in a longitudinal direction.
- the counterplate is inserted in the plate, and has a large clearance in one direction longitudinal. This makes it possible to set up the support plate 21 on the plate, and in particular to engage the legs in the ears 34 and 35.
- the base 9 of the retaining element is assembled to the plate.
- the assembly holes are provided for the base 9 to push back and hold the backplate backwards where it retains the legs engaged in the recesses of the ears. This achieves a simple assembly of the support plate to the plate, via the plywood.
- the pedal 24 is therefore resting down in its rear part with its rib 27, in its front part with the tongue 28 against the branch 18b of the reference 18, which can be lowered in the event of heavy load.
- the front part of the pedal is raised by the return against the two ears 34 and 35.
- the return 18 exerts an upward stress on the tongue 28 of the pedal sufficient so that the pedal does not drop under the effect of the skier’s weight alone, but only in the event of a large increase in the support force of the shoe on the support plate, which occurs in particular when the skier is in fall before.
- the support plate 21 presses sufficiently on the return 18 to tilt it, which activates the compensation mechanism.
- a low energy elastic means exerts on the pedal a restoring force towards the top.
- this means is a pin spring 40, the base of which passes through an orifice 41 of the plate 22.
- the branches of the spring 40 are supported under the support plate 21, more precisely under the pedal 24.
- the elasticity of the spring 40 is used both to achieve the elastic return of the pedal 24 and holding the base of the spring in the plate.
- FIG. 7 illustrates the movement of the support plate 21 in the case of a fall before pure.
- the support plate lowers, at least the tongue 28, which causes the tilting of the reference 18.
- the two legs 36 and 37 describe the recesses of the ears 34 and 35.
- FIG. 8 illustrates the movement of the support plate 21 in the case where the shoe stresses the retaining element according to a twist stress, that is to say in a rolling motion.
- the support plate is supported on the back of the rib 27 and on one of the ears 34 or 35 (35 in the case of the Figure 8), to switch around this tilting line thus formed.
- the tongue 28 exerts a force towards the bottom on the branch 18b and causes the rotation of the return 18 if the effort is sufficient.
- the tilting movement is also done against the restoring force that reference 18 develops by reaction.
- the intensity of the forces transmitted, and the amplitude of the tilting movement of the return depends on the width of the contact between the return and the tongue.
- the support plate 21 is movable around its rear bearing area formed by the rear end of the rib 27, in a rocking movement around either of two preferred tipping lines formed by this rear end of the rib and one of the legs 36 and 37 bearing upwards against the recesses of the ears 34 and 35.
- the support plate is also mobile according to any intermediate tilting movement, and in particular according to the movement which has been described in relation to FIG. 7. In its various movements, the plate rests on the rear end of its rib and on the branch 18b of the reference. In the two privileged movements, the plate takes support against one or other of the ears 34 or 35.
- the support plate 21 not only reacts to a forward fall of the skier, but also to a fall where the shoe tends to twist in its retainer. It is believed that it is possible in this way to facilitate the shoe release.
- the base of the retaining element is clear on its side edges, so as not to hinder the movement of the shoe when the support plate 21 has tilted laterally.
- the two branches 9a and 9b of the base have an upper surface bevelled, so as to reduce their thickness towards the outside.
- the legs 34 and 35 could be associated with the branches 9a and 9b of the base, and the pedal 24 could be supported in its rear part directly on the plate 22.
- the reinforcement 31 could in this case be eliminated.
- the reinforcement 31 in addition to these vertical upward forces at the legs 34 and 35, is subjected to the downward vertical support of the back of the pedal on the ear 32.
- the rear support of the pedal 24 on its plate 22 could be different. he could be formed by two separate areas, which would therefore each be paired with one of the legs 36 and 37 to form the two lines of tilting of the support plate.
- the rear support could also be carried out by a leg or a portion of axis engaged in an orifice of the plate.
- the rear support could also be made according to two bearing zones of the same type as the front zones 34, 35 of the plate and 36, 67 of the plate.
- the rear part of the pedal 24 could also rest on a damper block which performs vertical damping, and which also defines a range fuzzy around which the pedal can oscillate.
