Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and a device for display the time in a radio telephone that communicates via a base station.
- WO 96/21 177 describes a method for generating an ongoing Time of day in a radio telephone, in which a meter reading REGID namely the "Registration ID" which, along with other control data from the base station broadcast to individual radio telephones is used to determine the current time of day.
- the Counter status REGID which comprises 20 bits, is periodically, for example increased by 1 every five seconds.
- the count REGID is therefore a continuous one Counter that has no fixed time reference to determine a current time of day.
- the Counters are calibrated and "set".
- EP 0 461 849 A2 relates to a so-called pager with a first and a second clock, both in the broadcast process with a time signal, which specifies the time in the form of hours, minutes and seconds or synchronized.
- the invention has for its object the display of the time in radio telephones easier, more accurate and more energy-saving.
- the inventive method can be done in a very simple manner the time in a radio telephone with very little additional effort are displayed. For this it is only necessary that a counter reading of a existing counter in the base station, which is at least one day counts away, is transmitted from the base station to a radio telephone. This requirement is in the defined standards for radio telephones, e.g. B. provided in the DECT standard. Therefore needs to display the Time no additional information from the base station to the radio telephone to be transmitted and that for communication between the base station and standard used on a cellular phone need not be changed or to be modified. If the meter reading is set up that it always has a certain value at a certain time; so can be transmitted from this particular value in the radio telephone the specific time can be calculated again.
- the counter in the base station must be at a certain point Time to be reset. This is preferably done if no conversation is going on.
- the resulting advantages are that no power is consumed when the phone is switched off and that several phones connected to a base station display the same time.
- a radio telephone receives the meter reading from the base station only once, then initializes an internal counter and counts the counter reading there next, whereupon the time in the radiotelephone due to this internal meter reading is calculated.
- This advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention does not always need the received meter reading from the radio telephone to be filtered out, it is sufficient to have information filter out a discontinuous or erratic change of the meter reading.
- the counter reading of the radio telephone once matched to that of the base station the counter in the base station and that of the radio telephone have the same value on.
- Such initialization is preferably done in the radio telephone then when the radio telephone is on the broadcast carrier the base station has been synchronized. Initialized this way a switched on radio telephone reads its counter even if the Base unit changed the meter reading and then the transmission of the radio carrier interrupts for a certain time.
- the meter reading of the multiframe meter can preferably be used. This counts from 0 to 2 24 -1, which corresponds to a running time of 31 days and 1.65 hours, since the counter reading changes once every 160 ms.
- a communication system with a base station and at least one a display radio telephone with time display is according to the invention characterized in that in the base station a counter, the one in an infinite loop from one value to another certain value counts, and a transmission device for transmission of the meter reading from the base station to a radio telephone there is a device in the base station which measures the count can initialize or reset at a specific time; and in the radio telephone a device for calculating the time from the received counter reading is present.
- the device characterized in that in the radio telephone further an internal There is a counter that is initialized whenever the radio telephone has been synchronized to the radio carrier of the base station, and which continues to count on the basis of signals transmitted by the base unit, and the device for calculating the time also via the meter reading of the internal counter can calculate the time.
- FIG. 1 shows an exemplary DECT base station A with those for displaying the time on an associated radio telephone necessary assemblies.
- a multiframe counter 5 with one Microcontroller unit 3 connected via a burst mode controller 4 and an HF part 2 connected to the antennas 6 of the base station A.
- a frame pulse is clock generator 1 with the microcontroller unit 3 connected.
- step A2 checks whether the count of the multiframe counter 5 is greater than a value than 30 days. If this is not the case, then step A6 branches in which on the next pulse of the frame pulse clock 1 is being serviced. On the other hand, if it is determined in step A2 that the value of the Multiframe counter is greater than 30 days, then in a step A3 checks whether active calls are taking place. If so, so is branched back to step A6. Find in step A3, however If there are no active calls taking place, the meter reading is shown in step A4 of the multiframe counter 5 decremented by 30 days. Then in a step A5 the radio carrier is switched off for about 5 seconds, so that the radio telephones B connected to the base station A are new synchronize and reset their time from the currently existing counter value calculate.
- step B5 a new radio carrier is sought in a step B5 and then in step B6 the count of the multiframe Counter updated. This is done by taking over from the Base station sent meter reading. The system then waits in a step B7 on the next pulse of the activation clock 13. It is determined in step B2 that the broadcast carrier is still present is checked in a step B3 whether the display of the hours and / or minutes needs to be updated. If this is not the case, then is branched back to step B7. However, the time display must be updated are done, this is done in a step B4, before again in step B7 to the next pulse of the activation clock 13 is being serviced.
- the counter 5 of the base unit A can be on any Start of a day with the value 0 as long as one Radio telephone B, which can calculate a time from the meter reading received would like to know this particular point in time.
- Will the multiframe Counter 5, for example, started at midnight with the value 0 and the radio telephone B receives the value 1000 of the multiframe counter 5, so the time is calculated to be 1000 x 160 ms 160 s after midnight, i.e. to 0:02:40 a.m.
- a radio telephone reads the count of the multiframe counter only once and then continues to count locally.
- This counting can be automatic expire because a radio telephone receives a paging signal every 640 ms, whereupon the counter can be incremented by 4.
- the relationship between the multiframes broadcast according to the DECT standard and the paging signals are shown in FIG. 4 for an operating mode. In other operating modes, paging can be carried out according to the DECT standard Signal can be received at different time intervals. Now the counter reprogrammed in the base station, e.g. B.
- the accuracy of the time display implemented in this way is in the range of 160 ms when each counter reading of the multiframe counter is evaluated, and depends essentially on the accuracy of the clock in the base station from.
