Description

The present invention relates to a movement timepiece comprising a lower plate, a bridge fixed to said plate, a fixed guide tube having two ends mounted in respective orifices of said plate and bridge, and a rotating wheel axle crossing an axial bore of the tube and guided by it.

It is known to use such a guide tube for laterally guide a rotary axis which passes through the platinum and bridge and carries for example a needle below of the plate (that is to say on the side of the dial) and a wheel over the bridge. Beyond this wheel, the end of the axis is generally supported by a second bridge or a second stage. Figure 2 of GB patent 1,459,287 illustrates a variant where the tube is mounted in the openings of a bridge and a dial, at the center of the dial, to guide the concentric axes of the hour, minute and second wheels.

In such conventional constructions, each bridge is fixed to the plate by means of screw pillars, in general three in number, which can also carry two bridges at different levels, as shown by example patent CH 588 108. These pillars have the disadvantage of having to be placed, in plan, outside areas occupied by the moving parts of the movement between the platinum and bridges. They are therefore often placed near edges of bridges and this can lead to increasing the size, thickness and weight of bridges. Any guide tubes occupy other locations.

The present invention aims to avoid the disadvantage aforementioned and to allow construction also compact and light as possible from movement, especially in the case of a complicated movement such as that of a chronograph watch.

To this end, the invention relates to a movement of the kind indicated above, characterized in that that the tube has two opposite outer shoulders arranged in abutment respectively against said plate and against the bridge to maintain a determined spacing between these.

So a basic idea of the invention is to replace at least one of the usual bridge pillars, and preferably several of these pillars, by an arrangement special of one or more of the guide tubes located already in the space between the plate and the bridge. he this not only saves space, but also also a significant reduction in size and therefore weight of the bridge, adding to the weight gain of the pillars. As the guide tubes, which are usually the number of three in chronograph watches, are at some distance from the edge of the plate, the distances between them are generally smaller than the distances between the traditional pillars, so we can reduce the thickness of the bridge in some cases, or otherwise benefit greater rigidity of the bridge. Bridge can be fixed to the plate simply by means of screws tending to tighten the tubes between the plate and the bridge. These screws are much less bulky than traditional pillars and their position can therefore be chosen more freely.

The two outer shoulders of each tube guide have the function of maintaining a spacing perfectly defined between the plate and the bridge, being since mobile axes are usually mounted at pivot on these two elements. This problem and this function do not exist in the aforementioned construction according to the GB patent 1,459,287, where the tube is fixed to the dial without using a shoulder and where there is no pivot on the dial.

Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will appear in the description of a preferred embodiment, given below by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the appended drawings, in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a sectional view of part of a movement according to the invention, intended for a chronograph watch, and
  • FIG. 2 is a simplified plan view of the gear train, taken along line II-II of FIG. 1.

In figure 1, the movement is drawn with the dial facing down, that is, the term "lower" refers to what is on the side of the dial, while the term "superior" refers to this which is on the opposite side.

The movement conventionally includes a lower plate 1, a gear train 2, a plate upper 3 and a gear train 4 disposed between the deck 2 and the plate 3. The train 4 here comprises the rotor 5 of a motor step by step, integral with a pinion 6, a wheel 7 meshed on the pinion 6 and integral with a pinion 8, and a wheel 9 meshed on the pinion 8 and mounted on an axis 10. Both mobiles formed by elements 5 to 8 are supported by bridge 2 and upper plate 3 by means of pads 11. The upper end of axis 10 has a pivot 12 supported by a pad 13 fixed in the upper plate 3. Furthermore, axis 10 passes to through the central bore 14 of a guide tube 15 engaged in respective cylindrical orifices 16 and 17 bridge 2 and bottom plate 1, so that axis 10 crosses bridge 2 and stage 1. Axis 10 a a lower end 18 which also crosses the dial 19 of the watch and carries a hand 18a. This can be for example the hand of a minute counter or hours of the chronograph. According to the usual arrangement, the meter is located at a distance from the center 30 (figure 2) movement and dial 19, this center being occupied by the axes of the hour and minute hands of the watch, as well as by the central chronograph hand.

A first end 20 of the tube 15 is driven into the corresponding hole 16 of bridge 2, so that the tube is attached to the bridge. Above this end 20, the tube 15 has an annular front shoulder 21 which abuts against deck 2. This shoulder is followed by a span cylindrical 22 engaged in a hole 23 of a card printed circuits 24 placed against the underside of the bridge 2. The range 22 thus serves to position the card 24 in its own plan, this card being otherwise kept pressed against deck 2 by spacers (not shown) arranged between it and the plate 1.

The lower end 25 of the tube 15 is engaged without clearance in the orifice 17 of the lower plate 1, where it is guided and removable. Near this end, the tube 15 has an annular front shoulder 26 which abuts against plate 1. Furthermore, it is provided by example two screws 31 (figure 2) which pull the bridge 2 towards plate 1 and therefore tend to tighten these two elements on the shoulders 21 and 26 of the tube 15, thus ensuring the stability of deck 2 as in construction classics mentioned above.

Inside the bore 14 of the tube 15, the axis 10 a a diameter slightly smaller than that of the bore, except on a cylindrical seat 27 whose diameter corresponds to that of bore 14 for guiding side of the axis. This range 27 is preferably in the area of the lower end 25 of the tube, i.e. the as far as possible from the opposite bearing 13. The axis 10 further includes a collar 28 which abuts against the first end 20 of tube 15 to ensure its positioning axial. This collar also serves as a stop for the wheel 9 driven on the axis.

In the chronograph movement described here, it is provided three axes 10, 32 and 33 (Figure 2), which cross the lower plate 1 and the bridge 2, for example for three counters or for two counters and a small second. Consequently, it is planned to guide these axes by means of three guide tubes 15, so that the deck 2 can only be supported by these three tubes, which replace traditional pillars and guarantee a precise spacing between plate 1 and deck 2. The the resulting advantages are set out above. We can also plan to support deck 2 by means of a combination of one or more guide tubes and one or more several traditional pillars.

Positioning of the printed circuit board 24 can be provided by two of the tubes 15 only, the corresponding orifice 23 of the card being circular around one of the tubes and stretched around the other so allow thermal expansion of the card.

Note also that the invention can be applied also in case there is no upper plate 3, because axis 10 could be fully supported by its tube guide 15 or using other means.

Although the foregoing description relates to a chronograph watch, the invention can also apply to any type of watch movement comprising an axis which crosses both a bridge and a platinum.
