Method for placing the bottom of a package comprising a tubular body of non-round cross section closed by a cover and containing the product to be packaged, said bottom having the shape of a bowl, the dimensions of which correspond to the cross section of the body tubular, the bowl being fixed, after its introduction by means of a male tool in the body, by the activation of an adhesive and folding of the edge of the tubular body, characterized in that one proceeds according to the following steps: a) the open end of the tubular body is introduced between two opposite fixed jaws (M1, M2) perfectly matching two opposite parts (2, 3) of the end of the tubular body (1) and the distance between the contact surfaces of two jaws with the packaging being less than the distance between said opposite parts so that the non-clamped parts (4, 5) in said jaws undergo a non-permanent deformation by moving away from each other; b) the bottom is put in place by means of a male tool (P), said bottom being held in its final position by said fixed jaws (M1, M2) and the male tool (P); c) two opposite regions of the lateral surface of the tubular body are clamped by two clamping members (S1, S2) located below two movable jaws (M3, M4) intended to act on the portions of the free end of the tubular body not clamped by the fixed jaws to at least partially expel the air contained in the tubular body; d) the movable jaws (M3, M4) are clamped in order to bring the entire inner edge of the free end of the tubular body into contact with the bowl; e) the adhesive film is activated and, thereafter, the release of the closed packaging.
