Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for electrical contacting of two mutually perpendicular printed circuit boards, the contact surfaces of the contacts attached to the top of a first printed circuit board being at least partially perpendicular to the plane of the first printed circuit board and the contact surfaces of the mating contacts attached to a second printed circuit board being at least partially parallel are arranged to the level of the second circuit board.
- Such a contact device is known for example from DE 35 30 827.
- Such contact devices are preferably used for contacting a liquid crystal display with the associated circuit board carrying the control circuit.
- a so-called conductive rubber (crosswalk) is used to establish the contact between the mechanical contacts.
- Such a conductive rubber has flexible parallel conductors which are separated from one another by flexible insulating layers.
- the holder for the guide rubber is at least in two parts and, due to this multipart design, higher manufacturing costs and, above all, greater assembly effort is required. In particular, the assembly is made more difficult by the clamping spring used, which exerts the contact pressure on the guide rubber.
- the known contact device is one exact guidance of the conductive rubber is necessary in order to establish the secure contact between the contact strips of the first and the film contacts of the second circuit board. The guidance is still necessary to ensure that the guiding rubber stays in place. Finally, the conductive rubber is subjected to the same spring force with which the printed circuit boards are also held together.
- the object of the invention is to provide a device for the electrical contacting of two mutually perpendicular printed circuit boards, which is inexpensive to manufacture and which ensures reliable contacting with simple and quick assembly of the printed circuit boards.
- a major advantage of the device according to the invention is that, because of the contacts designed as spring elements with comparatively few components, a particularly reliable contact between contacts and mating contacts is produced.
- the spring elements can be brought into direct contact with the mating contacts, so that the conductive rubber can be dispensed with. Since on the one hand all mounting elements for the contact rubber can be dispensed with and on the other hand there is no need to insert the guide rubbers as an assembly step, a particularly simple and inexpensive construction of the contact device is possible.
- a conductive rubber is arranged between the respective contact surfaces of the contacts and the corresponding mating contacts. Because of the contacts designed as spring elements, the holding of the conductive rubber is comparatively simple, since the pressure force acting on the conductive rubber does not have to simultaneously ensure the cohesion of the printed circuit boards. Because of a smaller contact pressure, none is the guiding rubber completely surrounding axial guidance more necessary to ensure the hold of the conductive rubber.
- the contact device according to the invention is thus insensitive to manufacturing tolerances.
- the spring elements are designed as curved metal strips which act on the conductive rubber or the mating contacts via a contact surface.
- the contact surface defines a contact zone between the contacts and the counter contacts.
- the spring elements have solder feet that protrude through the first printed circuit board and are accessible from the underside thereof. The conductor tracks of the circuit board can thus be electrically connected directly to the spring elements.
- the bracket can consist of two parts. This has the advantage that differently shaped spring elements can be used with the same shape of the holder.
- the spring elements are advantageously cast into a common holder, which is in particular made of plastic. Forms the holder with the contacts embedded in it thus a contact strip that can be placed on the first printed circuit board in one assembly step.
- the contact strip is advantageously provided with flexible plug-in bases which extend through corresponding bores in the first printed circuit board and engage behind the printed circuit board with one edge. As a result, the contact strip is held securely on the printed circuit board by simply putting it on.
- a contact bar 1 is shown.
- the contact strip 1 has a base part 2, which rests with its base 3 on a first printed circuit board 4 carrying a control circuit.
- Recesses 14 are made in the base part 2, into which metal strips 5 are inserted so that they protrude through the base 3.
- the ends of the metal strips 5 protruding through the base 3 form soldering feet 7 which are guided through bores 6 in the printed circuit board 4 and are soldered to a conductor track located on the underside of the printed circuit board 4.
- the other end of a metal strip 5 is bent into a spring element 8.
- the spring elements 8 form with their outwardly projecting surface a contact surface 9, which can be coated with gold in order to avoid corrosion of the contact surface 9.
- the spring elements 8 press with the contact surface 9 a conductive rubber 10 in the direction C, which, with its contact surface 11 facing away from the spring element 8, contacts a mating contact 12 on a second printed circuit board 13 arranged perpendicular to the first printed circuit board 4.
- the guide rubber 10 has an approximately square cross section in order to ensure high stability and thus safe installation.
- the spring elements 8 are bent such that their spring force is directed essentially parallel to the first printed circuit board 4 (arrow C). The spring force thus has a component which is oriented perpendicularly to a second printed circuit board 13 carrying a liquid crystal display.
- a cover part 15 which has pins 16 which can be inserted into the recesses 14 together with the spring elements 8.
- the cover part 16 is placed on the top of the base part 2 so that the pins engage in the recesses 14. In the inserted state, the pins 16 wedge the spring elements 8 against the walls of the recesses 14.
- the cover part 15 is provided with molded brackets 17 which engage projections 18 formed on the base part 2 (FIG. 2), so that the cover part 16 is fastened on the base part 2 is. Both the base part 2 and the cover part 16 are injection molded from plastic.
- the metal strips 5 are of uniform thickness and shaped so that the soldering feet 7 are narrower than those as the contact surfaces 9.
- the base part 2 has on its lateral surfaces flexible plug-in bases 19 which extend through corresponding bores in the printed circuit board and with an edge 20 Reach behind the circuit board. During production, all spring elements 8 are used together in one piece and separated by punching after insertion.
- a contact strip 1 is shown, which is not composed of two parts, but in one Base body 21 is injected.
- the spring elements 22 are bent into a hook shape (section BB).
- the spring elements 22 also act with a component of their spring force parallel to the first printed circuit board (not shown) in the direction C.
- recesses 23 are provided on the rear side of the contact strip 1 between individual projections 24.
- FIGS. 3 and 4 The functional principle of the contact strips according to FIGS. 3 and 4 is similar to the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2.

Abstract
