Definitions
- the present invention relates to a gliding board, in particular "snowboarding", comprising a sliding sole surrounded by an edge, as well as its manufacturing process.
- Such a gliding board is known in particular from document US-A-5,320,378.
- the structure generally includes elements of decoration and peripheral protection, forming the upper face and the faces side of the snowboard, internal resistance elements or resistance blades, made of a material having a large mechanical resistance and great stiffness.
- the structure also includes fillers such as a core in honeycomb or wooden structure, a sliding sole forming the underside of the ski and ensuring good sliding on the snow, and metallic edges forming the edges bottom of the ski or snowboard board.
- the manufacture of modern boards therefore calls for very diverse materials: the gliding soles are generally made of polyethylene, the honeycomb cores are made of foam synthetic, the edges are made of steel, the upper surfaces of the ski are made of thermoplastic sheet, the blades of resistance are metal or resin plates armed with fibers.
- the edge is preferably formed by a steel profile surrounding the sole including its raised parts at the back forming the heel, and at the front to form the tip, and this unlike an alpine ski or a cross-country ski on which the edge is arranged only on the lateral sides because its role is primarily to ensure the attachment of the ski to allow cornering, stopping, etc.
- snowboarding is a fun discipline where we use, in addition to its edges lateral, all the other parts constituting it, i.e. the spatula and the heel, in order to be able to make figures, take support, receive jumps, etc.
- edge In addition to snowboarding, the edge also plays a role of protection and must therefore withstand mechanical stress important in order to avoid a rupture during the bending of the board, do not tear off, resist abrasion, etc.
- edge of a snowboard in addition to being made of steel, is also arranged on all the periphery of the board.
- This reinforcement extended to the parties end, that is to say the heel and the tip, allows also to lighten the structure of these parts for a identical solidity, the edge compensating for the decrease in their thickness.
- Edges of this type are also known, but made in two parts, for ease of shaping, but the joined ends of each of which are not in connection.
- the object of the invention is therefore to improve the resistance to the shocks of the board at all points of the edge.
- the invention relates to a gliding board, in particular of snowboard with composite structure, comprising a slip sole surrounded by a metal edge peripheral consisting of at least one section of a steel profile of which the length is substantially equal to the periphery of the sole and whose free ends are joined together in a connection point at the end, by a connecting means effective mechanics, so as to obtain a closing edge on herself.
- the present invention also relates to the methods according to claims 5 and 6 for producing the edge and a gliding board respectively.
- Figures 1 and 2 show a ski board or snowboard essentially comprising a board 1 comprising a sole 12 around which the edge 3 is fixed.
- the ski board is structured composite and consists of a solid core 9 around which adheres on the one hand, at least one element of mechanical resistance higher 10 and on the other hand, at least one resistance element lower mechanical 11 on which a sole of slip 12 surrounded by a peripheral metal edge 3.
- the metal edge 3 is made up, according to the present exemplary embodiment, by two sections of steel profile 4 and 5 whose total length is substantially equal to that of the periphery of the sole 12 and of which their free ends respectively 4a, 4b and 5a, 5b are joined together at a connection point in butt by an effective mechanical connection means A, B so to obtain a square 3 closing in on itself.
- the effective connection points A, B of profile sections 4, 5 forming the edge 3 are located at the front and rear ends of the sole 12 in curved areas a, b, c, d of the profiles 4 and 5.
- the effective mechanical connection of ends 4a, 4b and 5a, 5b of sections of sections 4 and 5 forming the edge 3, is carried out by welds A, B.
- the annealing phase is not carried out not on the entire edge but only in one area enlarged welds A, B, to prevent steel from being breaking in this area and making it regain all of its original elasticity.
- the pressure P for holding the ends in place is around 2 bars. After merger, the race of penetration is approximately 1 to 2 mm.
- the board proper is then obtained by a process illustrated on Figures 5, 6 and 7, comprising a first step of preparation of the solid core 9 in a synthetic foam, a second step of making the edge 3 as described above and a step of assembling said core 9 and the edge 3 with the upper mechanical resistance elements 10 and lower 11 and with sole 12.
- the invention provides a additional advantage over the prior art in this sense that before, during this shaping operation, produced a tendency at the non-contiguous ends of the edge at the spacing of the ends thereof when reading the front spatula and rear heel. This is no longer allowed thanks to the invention because said ends are integral with one of the other.
- the second subset 10, 16 can be preformed in its final configuration in an operation separate prior.
- the lower adhesive means 15 and lateral 15a and upper 15b of the rigid core 9 are consisting of a solid bonding film arranged around said core 9 during the first stage of preparation of it and has lateral extensions 18 extending on either side on the other side of the plane of the joint of the mold 14, in order also to ensure the adhesion of the lateral edges of the resistance elements mechanical lower 12 and upper 10 between them, in this zoned.
