Es ist weiterhin von Vorteil, wenn der geneigte Strangführungsabschnitt den Faserstrang oberseitig und der horizontale Streifenführungsabschnitt des Formatbandes den Faserstrang unterseitig begrenzt. Auf diese Weise kann durch die von oben erfolgende trichterartige Verengung der Führungsabschnitte der Faserstrang gezielt auf den auf dem horizontalen unteren Führungsabschnitt in Querrichtung bereits konkav vorgeformten Hüllmaterialstreifen überführt und anschließend faltenfrei umhüllt werden.

Der Zigarettenpapierstreifen 22 gelangt bei der Umlenkrolle 23 in einem Übergabebereich 26 des Tabakstranges 16 auf das über eine horizontale Streifenführung 27 geführte Formatband 21, worauf beide zum Format 19 gefördert werden.
Der im Strangaufbau- und Strangformungsbereich 7 bzw. 17 entlang eines horizontalen Strangführungsabschnitts 28 der Führung 9 bewegte Saugstrangförderer 6 wird im Übergabebereich 26 an einem gegen die horizontale Streifenführung 27 des Formatbandes 21 geneigten Strangführungsabschnitt 29 der Führung 9 entlangbewegt und führt dabei den egalisierten Tabakstrang 16 von oben her mit dem bereits im Bereich der horizontalen Streifenführung 27 in Querrichtung konkav vorgeformten Zigarettenpapierstreifen 22 zusammen.
