Description

The invention relates to a terminal block for high transmission rates in telecommunications and data technology, made of a plastic body with chambers arranged in at least one row for Insulation displacement contact elements and with slots for shield plates arranged in the transverse walls between the chambers and running axially parallel to these.

A terminal block of the generic type is previously known from US Pat. No. 5,160,273. In this case, the problem of crosstalk or crosstalk via the cable wires connected to adjacent insulation displacement contact elements is to be solved by inserting a large number of electrically conductive shielding plates between the individual pairs of insulation displacement contact elements. The problem of crosstalk or crosstalk arises when large amounts of information are transmitted via electrical lines, the information being transmitted at high frequencies. The transmission at such high frequencies generates radiation and interference between adjacent cable cores, especially if these cable cores are arranged closely adjacent to one another in the terminal block. By using the electrically conductive shield plates, greater crosstalk or crosstalk attenuation is achieved at high transmission rates.

The known terminal block comprises two parallel rows of chambers for insulation displacement contact elements, to each of which a shield plate is assigned, the opposite shield plates of the two rows being connected to one another by a large-area connecting plate which is inserted into the associated lower part of the terminal strip. However, the use of large-area, electrically conductive shielding plates in the terminal strips requires an enlargement the volume of the terminal strips and a higher cost in the manufacture of the terminal strips.

The invention is therefore based on the object to provide a terminal block in which the arrangement of specially shaped shield plates ensures an effective reduction in cross-talk and crosstalk and a substantial simplification of the assembly of both the shield plates and the cable cores on the insulation displacement contact elements are.

To achieve this object, the invention provides that the chambers of a connection unit are arranged at the smallest possible distance from one another in the plastic body and the slots for receiving the shielding plates are formed in the thicker transverse wall between two adjacent connection units from the bottom. This makes it possible to shield a pair of chambers which are arranged at a short distance from one another in the plastic body and form a connection unit by means of only two shielding plates. The greater distance between the chambers of adjacent connection units reduces the risk of crosstalk and crosstalk.

According to a preferred embodiment, the shield plates have a latching opening in the upper region, which latches with a latch in the plastic body when the shield plate is inserted into the terminal block. The shield plates are inserted from the underside of the terminal block. Furthermore, the Shield plates in the area of the contact pin on a cutout, through which a cheap conductor routing takes place. The transmission values are improved by a magnetic field structure favorably influenced by this measure. The shield plates are connected to one another via the contact pins and a conductor track, for example on a circuit board.

The inventive design of the cable core insertion area of the insulation displacement contact elements, according to the invention, enables an easier connection of cable wires by reliably fixing the cable wires inserted by hand before pressing them in with a tool via the knobs in the insertion area.

According to a further embodiment, the shield plates can be connected to one another in at least one chamber by narrow webs which are inserted into grooves in the bottom of the plastic body. This design of the shield plates allows a technically and cost-less installation of the shield plates directly into the upper part of the terminal block, so that the arrangement of the shield plates according to the invention is also possible with wire connectors that consist of only a single row of chambers for insulation displacement contact elements and no lower part exhibit.

Furthermore, three shield plates of two adjacent pairs of chambers can be connected to one another by a narrow web to form a shield plate cage. Show the three shield plates and the narrow webs connecting them in the plane of the webs have an eight shape formed from seven short metal strips.

In a particularly preferred manner, one slot each is arranged in the transverse wall between two pairs of closely adjacent chambers and two parallel slots each for receiving the shield plates are arranged in the transverse wall between two pairs of closely arranged chambers. This enables a particularly compact design, in particular of a wire connector.

Due to the paired arrangement of the chambers with a small distance from each other in a row of the plastic body, the crosstalk attenuation of the insulation displacement contact elements used in these chambers is significantly improved, especially since the distance between each pair of closely adjacent chambers of a connecting element to the adjacent pair of another connecting element is greater than the distance between the closely adjacent chambers. As a result, the capacities of adjacent pairs of insulation displacement contact elements arranged in a row are further reduced and the cross-talk or crosstalk values are further improved.

According to the representation in FIG. 1, the connection strip is formed from a plastic body 1, which comprises four connection units 26, each with two chambers 2 arranged at a distance d. The chambers 2 are formed by the top 5 of the bar and serve to accommodate insulation displacement contact elements 28. Each pair of chambers 2 of a connection unit 26 is delimited by a transverse wall 27, in which a slot 25 for inserting a shielding plate 24 from the bottom 23 a contact pin 32 is arranged. The distance d between the chambers 2 of a connection unit 26 is significantly smaller than the distance D between the chambers 2 of adjacent connection units 26. The distance D is at least 1.5 times the distance d. Each connection unit 26 consists of a pair of chambers 2 with the insulation displacement contact elements 28 and a shield plate 24. The shield plate 24 shown on the left in FIG. 1 is only necessary if a further strip is attached. The terminal block can also be formed from separate plastic body assemblies for each connection unit 26, which are arranged in any number of connection units 26. The plastic body 1 can be either smooth or with locking elements with the end faces 37 to be strung together.

Die Schneidklemm-Kontaktelemente 28 sind von der Oberseite 5 der Anschlußleiste zugänglich.2 shows the side view of the terminal strip, the position of the insulation displacement contact elements 28 in the plastic body 1 and the spatial design of the individual connection units 26 and the distances d between the chambers 2 of a connection unit 26 and the adjacent connection units 26. The insulation displacement contact elements 28 are accessible from the top 5 of the terminal block.

According to the illustration in FIG. 6, the insulation displacement contact elements 28 have an insertion region 29 for cable cores (not shown), which is formed from opposing knobs 30 which terminate a circular expansion 31 at the top. As a result, a cable core inserted by hand into the expansion 31 is pre-fixed and can subsequently be easily pushed into the clamping slot 6 using a suitable tool.

Die Fig. 3 zeigt mit der Unteransicht der Leiste die Lage der Kontaktpins 33 der Schneidklemm-Kontaktelemente 28 und der Kontaktpins 32 der Schirmbleche 24 zueinander und in Bezug auf die Unterseite 23 der Leiste.3 shows the position of the contact pins 33 of the insulation displacement contact elements 28 and the contact pins 32 of the shield plates 24 relative to one another and with respect to the underside 23 of the strip with the bottom view of the strip.

The shield plates 24 have a latching opening 34, which latch with corresponding latches 35 in the upper region of the plastic body 1 (FIG. 4). In the region of the contact pin 32 there is a recess 36 provided to ensure optimal routing.

The position of the shield plates 24 in the plastic body 1 is shown in FIG. 4. It is clear that the contact surface of the shield plate 24 is reduced as a result. The contact pin 32 is formed eccentrically to the longitudinal axis of the shield plate 24, so that there is sufficient space for the recess 36.

In a further embodiment according to FIGS. 7 to 12, according to FIG. 7, each chamber 2 comprises a clamping slot 6 with lateral clamping webs 7 for clamping in the insulation of a cable core, the conductor of which is pressed into the insulation displacement contact element 3 and is thus solder-free, screw-free and stripping-free is contacted with the insulation displacement contact element 3. On the underside 23 of the plastic body 1, plastic fastening pins 8 are formed, which are used to fasten the wire connector, e.g. on printed circuit boards.

In die zwischen zwei Paaren eng benachbarter Kammern 2 gebildete Querwand 9 ist von der Unterseite 21 her ein Schlitz 11 und in die zwischen zwei Gruppen eng benachbarter Paare angeordnete breitere Querwand 10 sind von der Unterseite 23 her zwei Schlitze 11 eingebracht, die auf der Unterseite 23 im Boden 12 des Aderverbinders durch Nuten 13,14,15 miteinander verbunden sind, wie es die Untersicht in Fig. 9 zeigt.7 and 9, the distance d between two immediately adjacent clamping slots 6 used for inserting a pair of insulation displacement contact elements 3 is also less than the distance D between the clamping slot 6 of the chamber 2 of the one pair and the clamping slot 6 the chamber 2 of the adjacent couple. In the transverse wall 9 formed between two pairs of closely adjacent chambers 2 there is a slot 11 from the underside 21 and in the one arranged between two groups of closely adjacent pairs wider transverse wall 10, two slots 11 are made from the underside 23, which are connected to one another on the underside 23 in the bottom 12 of the wire connector by grooves 13, 14, 15, as the bottom view in FIG. 9 shows.
