Description

The invention relates to an electrical connector for data technology, in particular a RJ45 plug, with a plurality of substantially parallel, one-piece contacts with cable conductor connecting sections, contact sections for engagement with contact sections of another connector and plate-shaped mounting sections, on the underside of the connection sections are arranged, wherein the plate-shaped fastening portions of at least one first pair of contacts on its upper side contact portions and are arranged in alignment with each other.

Gattungsgemäße RJ45-Stecker sind für höhere Übertragungsfrequenzen aufgrund des zu hohen Nahnebensprechens nicht geeignetGeneric RJ45 plugs are widely used and are characterized by cost manufacturability. The one-piece contacts are overall plate-shaped and arranged side by side in alignment. At the bottom, the contacts carry self-tapping terminals and rounded at the top contact surfaces. Generic RJ45 plugs are not suitable for higher transmission frequencies due to the excessive near-end crosstalk

International patent application WO 99/23 729 A further discloses an electrical connector in whose plug eight contacts are arranged, which run parallel to one another and are combined to form contact pairs. Sections for connecting cable cores and sections for engaging contacts of a socket are provided on the contacts. The portions for engagement with contacts of a socket are plate-shaped and have on the side facing the contacts of a socket, contact portions. The contact portions of each pair of contact pairs are in the same direction and the contact portions of the other pairs of contacts are oriented in the opposite directions.

With the invention, an electrical connector for the data technology is to be created, in which the cross-talk between the contacts is reduced.

According to the invention for this purpose, an electrical connector for data technology, in particular a RJ45 connector, with a plurality of substantially mutually parallel, one-piece contacts with connection sections for cable cores, contact portions for engagement with contact portions of another connector and plate-shaped mounting portions, on the underside of the terminal portions are arranged, wherein the plate-shaped fixing portions of at least a first pair of contacts on its upper side contact portions and are arranged in alignment with each other, wherein the plate-shaped mounting portions of at least one second contact pair with respect to the plate-shaped mounting portions of the at least one first pair of contacts in a plane parallel to the plate-shaped mounting portions Direction are arranged offset.

Due to the staggered arrangement of the plate-shaped attachment portions, an overlap of these attachment portions and thus the crosstalk between the contacts can be reduced. Nevertheless, a simple and inexpensive to produce construction is maintained by the plate-shaped mounting portions, possibly in conjunction with self-tapping terminals on the bottom.

In a development of the invention, the plate-shaped fastening sections of the at least one second contact pair are offset against an insertion direction of the connector.

As a result, a compact, narrow design of the connector is achieved, which is particularly suitable for RJ45 connector.

In a further development of the invention, the plate-shaped mounting portions of the at least one second contact pair are offset relative to the plate-shaped mounting portions of the at least one first pair of contacts so that viewed perpendicular to the plate-shaped mounting portions, the plate-shaped mounting portions of the at least one first contact pair and the plate-shaped mounting portions of the at least one do not cover the second contact pair.

By these measures, the crosstalk between contact pairs can be significantly reduced.

In a development of the invention, the contact sections of the at least one second contact pair have contact arms which, starting from the offset, plate-shaped fastening sections, extend into the region of the contact sections of the at least one first contact pair.

By means of these measures, a standardized arrangement of the contact sections, in particular for an RJ45 plug, can be achieved. The contact arms have a total and especially perpendicular to the plate-shaped mounting portions on a much smaller surface than this, so that the transfer behavior of the connector is only slightly influenced by the contact arms.

In a development of the invention, a wire guide element is provided for guiding cable wires to the terminal sections of the contacts, wherein a length of the cable wires routed within the wire guide element is shorter than a cable core to be arranged within the wire guide element Length of the cable leads routed to the at least one first contact pair.

As a result of these measures, the area in which the cable cores of different pairs of contacts in the wire guide element run substantially parallel is shortened, so that a further improvement of the crosstalk behavior is achieved. The wire guide element may for example consist of metal, of metallized plastic or only of plastic. If the wire guide element is at least partially made of conductive material, the behavior of the connector with respect to near-end crosstalk can be improved.

In a development of the invention, the wire guide element has means for guiding the cable wires guided to the connection sections of the at least one first contact pair at least in sections in a vertical direction parallel to the plate-shaped fastening sections and perpendicular to an insertion direction of the cable wires routed to the connection sections of the at least one second contact pair Offset to arrange connector.

In this way, a greater distance is achieved between cable cores of different contact pairs, so that the crosstalk behavior is improved. Due to the greater distance, it may be possible to arrange a shield plate between cable cores of contact pairs.

In a development of the invention, the connection sections of the at least one first contact pair are arranged offset relative to the connection sections of the at least one second contact pair in a vertical direction parallel to the plate-shaped fastening sections and perpendicular to an insertion direction of the connector.

In this way, the cable cores can be guided in a straight line within the connector and between the cable cores of different contact pairs, the distance is increased. Optionally, a shield plate can be arranged in the resulting gap between cable wires and terminal sections of different pairs of contacts.

In a development of the invention, the plate-shaped fastening sections of the at least one first contact pair and / or of the at least one second contact pair have a central recess.

By these measures, the size of the opposite surfaces of the contacts are reduced, whereby the transmission behavior is improved.

In a development of the invention, an electrically conductive screen element is provided which surrounds the cable cores to be arranged in the wire guide element and / or the contacts at least in sections.

In this way, the influence of electromagnetic fields on the connector can be reduced.

The electrical connector shown in FIG. 1 is designed as an RJ45 plug 10 and has a plastic front part 12, a wire guide element 14, contacts 16, an electrically conductive shield plate 18 and a flexible cable guide 20. In the wire guide element 14 guided ends of cable wires are shown only in sections. The front part 12 has a plurality of slot-shaped recesses 22 arranged parallel to one another, in which the plate-shaped contacts 16 are arranged and secured. The contacts 16 are combined in pairs to form contact pairs. The wire guide member 14 is in the illustrated embodiment of plastic, but this may also be made of metallized plastic or metal, thereby the crosstalk can be improved, but measures must be taken to prevent short circuits under the contacts 16.

In the illustration of FIG. 2, the wire guide element 14 with the cable wires and the contacts 16 is shown in more detail. Two contacts 16a, 16b, 16c and 16d each form a contact pair. The contacts 16a, 16b and 16c are arranged parallel to each other and in alignment. In contrast, the contacts 16d with their plate-shaped mounting portions and end portions relative to the contacts 16a, 16b and 16c against a direction of insertion of the RJ45 connector 10 are offset and each have a contact arm 24 which extends from the plate-shaped attachment portion of a contact 16d in the insertion direction into the region of the contacts 16a, 16b and 16c. As a result, contact portions of all contacts 16a, 16b, 16c and 16d are parallel and aligned with one another, so that a standardized arrangement of the contact portions is achieved.

Based on the illustration of Fig. 4, the structure of the contacts 16a, 16b, 16c and 16d will be explained in detail. The contacts 16a, 16b and 16c are identically constructed and each have a plate-shaped mounting portion 26 which is provided with a central bore. The central bore reduces the opposing surfaces of the contacts 16a, 16b and 16c, resulting in a reduced rate of transmission. On an underside of the plate-shaped mounting portion 26 each self-separating terminals 28 are arranged. If one of the contacts 16a, 16b, 16c is placed on a cable core, the self-tapping terminals 28 penetrate the insulation of the cable core and establish an electrical connection. At the top of the plate-shaped mounting portions 26 is in each case a contact portion, which is formed by two semicircular projections 30 each. These semicircular protrusions 30 are intended to engage with contact portions of an RJ-45 jack.

The contacts 16d, like the contacts 16a, 16b and 16c, have a plate-shaped fastening section 32 which carries self-tapping connection terminals 34 on its underside. However, the plate-shaped attachment portion 32 has no central bore. On both sides of the plate-shaped mounting portion 32, a rectangular recess is formed in each case, which serves for fastening the contacts 16d. At the top of the plate-shaped mounting portion 32 of this goes in each case in the contact arm 24. A the plate-shaped mounting portion 32 remote from the end of the contact arm 24 respectively forms the contact portion of the contacts 16d and is aligned with the semicircular protrusions 30 of the remaining contacts 16a, 16b and 16c.

As can be seen in FIG. 4, the contact arms 24 have a substantially smaller surface area than the contacts 16a, 16b and 16c. This applies in particular to the surfaces of the contact arms 24 which are arranged parallel to the plate-shaped fastening sections 26. As a result, a superposition tendency between the contacts 16d and the contacts 16a, 16b and 16c is markedly reduced. In addition, a Überspäubeigung between the contacts 16a, 16b and 16c is reduced because there is a comparatively large gap between the contacts 16a, 16b and 16c of the respective contact pairs compared to conventional R45 plugs.

Referring again to FIG. 2, it can be seen that cable routing channels are disposed in the wire guide member 14 such that cable wires 36 leading to the terminal portions of the contacts 16d face the cable wires 38, 40 and 42 leading to the terminal portions of the contacts 16a, 16b and 16c, are offset in a vertical direction of the connector 10. In this, parallel to the contacts 16a, 16b and 16c and perpendicular to the direction of insertion of the RJ45 connector 10 extending direction is thus a gap between the cable cores 36 of the contacts 16d and the cable cores 38, 40 and 42 of the contacts 16a, 16b and 16c. At the same time, in a transverse direction of the RJ45 plug 10, there is a comparatively large gap between the cable cores 38, 40 and 42 of the respective contact pairs. As a result, a Überspäubeigung between the cable cores 36, 38, 40 and 42 of the respective contact pairs is reduced.

42 verringert. In addition, the arranged in the wire guide element 14 length of the cable wires 36 is opposite to that in the wire guide element 14 arranged length of the cable cores 38, 40 and 42 reduced because the terminal portions of the contacts 16 d relative to the terminal portions of the contacts 16 a, 16 b and 16 c are offset against the insertion direction. As a result, the Überspäubeigung between the cable cores 36 and the cable cores 38, 40 and 42 is reduced.

The plate-shaped attachment portions 32 of the contacts 16d are opposite to the insertion direction so far opposite the attachment portions 26 of the contacts 16a, 16b and 16c offset that in a transverse direction of the RJ45 connector 10 no overlap between the attachment portions 32 with the terminal portions 34 and the attachment portions 26th is present with the connection sections 28 and the contact sections 30.

In the illustration of FIG. 3, the staggered in the vertical direction arrangement of the cable cores 36 and the cable cores 38, 40 and 42 is clearly visible. This results in a space between these pairs of cable cores 36, 38, 40 and 42, which contributes to a reduction in the tendency to overspill. The wire guide element 14 has intermediate walls in these intermediate spaces.
