Description

The invention relates to a connector with an integrated Shielding, preferably for electrical contacting multicore cables with each other or with a printed circuit board or like. The connector preferably consists of a Knife and a corresponding female connector that can be detached are interconnectable.

From DE 100 51 819 A1, which goes back to the applicant a connector with shielding is known in which both the knife and female connectors Shielding plates are provided. With these shields is achieved the electrical connection of the knives and springs against electromagnetic interference from outside is shielded as well as the crosstalk from an electrical Contact on the other is prevented. At this Plug connections are the individual contacts of the multi-pole Knife and female connectors in several parallel to each other Arranged rows.

For the transmission of electrical signals or a Supply voltage, it is often necessary to have two or more electrical contacts of the connector pair or to be grouped together and with a shield to provide. The respective shielding plates are on Knife and female connectors designed such that they at least two electrical connections, preferably in the form of knife and feather, in pairs or in groups essentially encompass all the way around and to the outside shield.

With such a connector, however, the alignment of the two elements of the connector to each other specified. Due to the design of the shielding plates shielding two neighboring ones in pairs Contact elements in a row only if the the two elements in the correct position with respect to each other or e.g. two male connectors from two sides on a circuit board, Board or the like. Are attached.

However, it is often desirable that the two Connector elements from two sides at a 90 ° angle, relative to each other, to be plugged onto a circuit board. With the known connectors is a continuous, at least in pairs shielding two contact elements not possible.

Starting from the prior art, the person skilled in the art is ahead of the Task to design a connector so that the two connector elements at a 90 ° angle to each other offset, seen relative to their respective longitudinal extension, connectable with one another or from two sides PCB are pluggable, and in pairs or groups Shielding of the contact elements is given; optionally, the Connectors are compatible with standardized components.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by a Shielded connector with the characteristics of Claim 1 or claim 3 solved; advantageous developments and refinements of the invention are the subject of claims 2 and 4 to 11.

A key concept of the invention is that the in arranged several rows parallel to each other Contact elements, that is, each knife or springs, the respective connector element offset from each other are arranged. That means at least two of the several rows of contact elements to each other on gap or offset from each other in the connector are arranged. With a projection perpendicular to The longitudinal direction of the respective row is therefore the Contact elements of at least two of the rows are not direct one above the other. The shielding plates are also such configured that at least two contact elements, each made essentially in a row, in pairs or in groups are covered with shielding technology. The shield can two contact elements from two adjacent rows or several contact elements from several adjacent rows rewrite. The contact elements are preferably each shielded in pairs. The respective shielding plates of the Knife and female connectors are designed such that in mated condition of the connector or if it is plugged onto a circuit board from two sides Shielding around the two or more contact elements is all the way round.

With the staggered arrangement of the rows of Contact elements and the cross-row shielding it is possible that the two connector elements for Example offset at 90 ° to each other, in their respective Seen longitudinal extension, are interconnectable. The Contact elements have one, seen in plan view preferably square arrangement to each other, so that the Connectors also seen on their longitudinal extent different positions can be connected to each other. Due to the arrangement of the shielding plates is nevertheless one continuous shielding to the outside or against Interference from the outside of at least two contact elements given.

In principle, can be on a connector or on a several additional connectors rotated by 90 ° can be arranged.

Preferably, the multiple rows of contact elements are in the respective connector elements arranged such that two groups of rows are formed. The first one Group and the second group are arranged such that in the case of a projection perpendicular to its longitudinal extension, the individual contact elements lie on each other. The first and however, the second group of the rows is offset from one another arranged.

With an even number of rows, especially four, is a symmetrical formation of the Connector element possible, so that when connecting two connector elements at a 90 ° angle to each other Contact elements of the several rows can be connected to one another are.

In an advantageous development of the invention, the respective shielding plates are arranged at a 45 ° angle to the longitudinal extent of the rows of the contact elements. They encompass at least two contact elements of two adjacent rows. This also ensures that all contact elements of the several rows are circumscribed by shielding plates in pairs or groups.
In a further development of the invention, the shielding plates are essentially U-shaped. With a suitable dimensioning of the shielding plate and the spacing of the rows or the individual contact elements from one another, by plugging the two connector elements into one another, the respective legs of the adjacent U-shaped shielding plate together with the rear of the first shielding plate provide at least essentially continuous circumferential shielding form two contact elements.

Another, second, equivalent core concept of the invention, according to which the two plug connection elements are also offset at a 90 ° angle to one another, seen relative to their respective longitudinal extent, can be connected to one another or can be plugged onto a printed circuit board from two sides, is that by a Cranking of the contact elements, ie the electrically conductive pins, on the one hand the arrangement of the contact elements in straight rows, in each case in alignment with one another, and compatible with conventional connectors is made possible, on the other hand, with the cranking of the contact elements, ie with an essentially Z-shaped design of the metallic Pins, achieved that the outwardly facing or protruding third sections of the contact elements, seen in the longitudinal direction of the contact elements, are arranged offset to the first sections of the contact elements arranged in parallel, mutually aligned rows. These third sections, as seen in the axial longitudinal extent of the contact elements, are laterally offset from the first sections.
The offset, which is determined, inter alia, by the size or length of the second section, which extends essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the contact element, is preferably selected in accordance with the standardized connector systems.
With the staggered arrangement, seen in the longitudinal direction of the contact element, of the third sections to the first sections, it is possible for the third sections, which are staggered in each case, of two knife strips of the same design, as already mentioned above, from two sides onto a board provided with openings can be plugged on, so that the respective third sections touch approximately in the central plane of the circuit board and in this way an electrical connection is established between the contact elements of the male connectors. The inner wall of the openings can itself be designed to be electrically conductive, so that the tolerances in the manufacture of the contact elements themselves do not have to be kept as narrow as for the insertion of the contact elements into the circuit board, which has a cost-reducing effect.

According to an advantageous development of this variant of Invention is the alignment of the three sections of the Contact elements such that the first and third sections, each in their longitudinal extent, parallel to each other are aligned and the second sections which are the actual Form crank, aligned perpendicular to it. In special, Such cranked contact elements are cost-saving from known straight contact elements or metallic pins by two preferably at the same time ongoing bending processes can be produced.

Advantageously, the shielding plates are here also essentially formed as a U-shaped component, the two parallel legs of the "U" each having the same or different lengths. In particular, two first sections of two contact elements, which are arranged next to one another in parallel rows, are jointly encompassed by the U-shaped shielding plate.
For this purpose, it is advantageous that there is an even number of rows of contact elements, so that two adjacent contact elements are each provided with a common shielding plate. Four rows of contact elements are preferably arranged in the knife or female connector.

The knife or female connectors are preferably made of plastic, preferably by injection molding, the respective contact elements either being releasably insertable and attachable via a snap-in connection or being cast in during manufacture.
The shielding sheets are obtained, for example, by bending a flat sheet or cutting a sheet profile to length, and are likewise either detachably insertable in the connector element or already cast in.

The U-shaped shielding plates, in the form of bent or angled metal sheets, can also be the bottom of a Reach through the male connector so that it is on the other side project over the surface of the floor. This can for example in the manufacture of a male connector Plastic automatically during an injection molding process respectively.

To place the male connectors on a circuit board in the correct position and in particular the bending of the other Variant to avoid staggered third sections further, outwards over the bottom surface of the male connector protruding guide elements provided. These are preferably integrally formed on the male connector e.g. e.g. trained during injection molding.

The facing the other connector element Back of a component is either designed such that another knife or female connector with the element is connectable or that a multi-core cable directly with the Element is connected.

In the first exemplary embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 1, two male connectors 1 are plugged onto a printed circuit board 6 from two sides. The two male connectors 1 are arranged at a 90 ° angle to one another, as seen in their respective longitudinal directions. The two male connectors 1 are provided with contact elements 4. These are designed here in the form of electrically conductive pins which reach through the bottom 8 of the male connector 1. Together with the side walls "A" and "B", an interior is circumscribed into which a correspondingly designed female connector with contact elements in the form of springs can be inserted. For better clarity of the drawings, the known female connector is not shown here.
The contact elements 4 are arranged here in four mutually parallel rows 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d. In each case, two of the rows 5a to 5d are arranged offset from one another, so that in the case of a projection perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the contact elements 4 of the first 5a and third 5c or the second 5b and fourth 5d row lie one above the other. The shielding plates 3 each encompass two contact elements 4 of two adjacent rows, namely rows 5a and 5b or 5c and 5d. The shielding plates 3 are arranged at a 45 ° angle to the longitudinal extent of the rows 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d.

The shielding plates 3 are essentially U-shaped formed, the two legs 10 and 10 'of the "U" not aligned perpendicular to the bottom of the "U", but perpendicular are arranged to extend the rows 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d.

When looking at the male header 1 is one of the Leg 10 of the "U" is longer, so that it is approximately extends to the neighboring row in such a way that for example with a shield 3, each one Contact element 4 of the rows 5a and 5b, the one Leg of the U-shaped shielding plate 3 formed longer which engages around the contact pin 4 arranged in the row 5b.

The female connector is with corresponding shielding plates provided so that when the female connector is inserted in the male connector 1 is inserted, two contact elements 4 of one Shielding plate 3 of the male connector 1 and a shielding plate the female connector is essentially wrapped all around are.

The circuit board 6 has holes 7 for receiving the Provide contact elements 4, the thickness of the circuit board 6 or the length of the contact elements 4 is preferably chosen in this way is that from two sides knife strips 1 on the PCB 6 can be plugged in and the respective Contact elements 4 approximately in the central plane of the circuit board 6 touch or put together and so the electrical Establish a conductive connection; the holes 7 can, however also be provided with an electrically conductive layer.

The two male connectors 1 are at a 90 ° angle to one another offset, so that only one of the number of Contact elements 4, the number of rows 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d corresponds to other male connector 1, contacted with each other become. On the side facing the circuit board 6 "D" of Bottom 8 of the male connector 1 can also other elements 9, preferably in one piece, be molded to guide and / or orientation of the male connector 1 and in corresponding openings or holes in the circuit board 6 in Intervention. When attaching the male connector 1 the guide pins 9 are first on the circuit board 6 introduced and thus aligned the male connector 1 in the correct position, so that the contact elements 4 bend, at least almost, is prevented.

The shielding plates 3 can also be arranged such that they reach through the bottom 8 of the male connector 1 and, in attached state, at least partially in the Extend PCB 6 into it. At least that's one partial shielding of the electrical connection inside given the circuit board 6. To accommodate the floor 8 protruding shielding plates 3 can in the circuit board 6 corresponding grooves or depressions may be provided.

FIG. 2 shows a schematic projection of two male connectors 1 when plugged onto a printed circuit board 6, not shown here. The contact elements 4 are each offset in four rows 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d.
In addition, guide pins 9 are also present here, which are preferably of square design.
The contact elements 4, here the knives of the male connectors 1, but it can also be springs of a female connector, are arranged such that their mutual distances "Q" both in the respective rows 5a, 5b, ... and between the rows 5a, 5b, ... are chosen to be the same size. A square diagonal dimension of the contact elements is thus achieved.
Two of the contact elements 4 are circumscribed by an essentially U-shaped shielding plate 3, the legs 10, 10 'of which are aligned perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the rows 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d, the leg 10 being longer than the leg 10' is. It can thus be seen in the plan view that a shielding of the electrical contact is achieved over the longitudinal extent of the electrical contact between the two male connectors 1, which does not physically pass through the printed circuit board 6, but has a technically all-round effect.

In Figure 2a, the arrangement of male connectors according to the Representation shown in Figure 2, but here the better For the sake of clarity, point to the shielding plates waived the distance "Q" between two Contact elements of a pair of contact elements clarify.

In FIG. 2b the two in FIG. 2 are at 90 ° to one another Knife strips 1 shown rotated, the outer surface "D" their floors 8 are facing each other to illustrate the Position of the contact elements and the shielding plates so far moved that they are not on top of each other. From one Knife strip, the outer surface "D" of its bottom 8 can be seen and looks in the male connector 1 shown below in this figure one on the inner surface of the bottom 8 of the male connector 1. In two male connectors 1 are the pairs of contact elements that in FIG. 2 lie one above the other and in terms of circuitry are interconnected, with the same reference numerals attracted, with the reference numerals 4a to 4d.

With a correspondingly designed female connector, e.g. in the interior of the floor 8 and walls Male connector 1 is inserted, is also one continuous shielding of the electrical connection between the contact elements 4, e.g. Knives, and that Contact elements, e.g. Springs reached on the female connector.

In the further embodiment shown in Figure 3 the invention are two male connectors 11 from two sides attached to a circuit board 6, as in Fig. 1. Die two male connectors 11 are provided with contact elements 41. These are in the form of electrically conductive pins, which also reach through the bottom 8 of the male connector 11. Together with the side walls "A" and "B" is a Circumscribed interior, corresponding to one trained, standardized female connector with contact elements can be inserted in the form of springs. To simplify the This female connector is also not shown here.

The cranked contact elements 41 are here in four to each other parallel rows 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d arranged. The four rows 5a to 5d are arranged in alignment with one another, so that at a projection perpendicular to the longitudinal direction the first Sections 4 'of the contact elements 41 of the four rows 5a to 5d lie on top of each other.

The shielding plates 31 encompass two first ones Sections 4 'of the contact elements 41 of two adjacent ones Rows, here the rows 5a and 5b or 5c and 5d. The The reason for the shielding plates 31 is at a 90 ° angle The longitudinal extent of the rows 5a to 5d is arranged.

The shielding plates 31 are essentially U-shaped formed, the two legs 100 and 101 of the "U" in aligned substantially perpendicular to the bottom of the "U" and arranged parallel to the longitudinal extent of the rows 5a to 5d are. The two legs 100 and 101 are in FIG. 3 different lengths.

The female connector, not shown here, is with corresponding Shielding plates provided so that when the female connector in the Knife strip 11 is inserted, two first Sections 4 'of the contact elements 41 from one Shield plate 31 of the male connector 11 and a shield plate the female connector essentially wrapped all the way around and thus against electrical interference from outside or behind are shielded on the outside.

The circuit board 6 has holes 7 for receiving the third Sections 4 "'of the contact elements 41 provided, the Thickness of the printed circuit board 6 or the length of the third sections 4 "' the contact elements 41 is preferably selected such that from Knives 11 on two sides of the printed circuit board 6 are pluggable and the respective third sections 4 "' of the contact elements 41 approximately in the central plane of FIG Touch circuit board 6 or put them together and so the Establish an electrically conductive connection. The holes 7 can also be used with an electrically conductive coating be provided or in the form of metal sleeves in a Printed circuit board 6 made of plastic.

The two male connectors 11 are at a 90 ° angle to one another twisted so that only a number of each Contact elements 41, the number of rows 5a to 5d corresponds to other male connector 11, contacted with each other become. On the side facing the circuit board 6 "D" of Bottom 8 of the male connector 11 can also other elements 9, preferably in one piece, be molded to guide and / or orientation of the male connector 1 and in corresponding openings or holes in the circuit board 6 in Intervention. When inserting the male connector 11 the guide pins 9 are first on the circuit board 6 introduced and thus the male connector 11 in the correct position aligned so that bending of the third sections 4 "' the contact elements 41, at least almost, is prevented.

The shielding plates 31 provided here can also be of this type be arranged so that they cover the bottom 8 of the male connector 11 reach through and, when plugged in, at least partially extend into the circuit board 6. So that's one at least partially increased shielding of the electrical Connection given inside the circuit board 6. To record of the shielding plates 31 projecting above the bottom 8 can in the circuit board 6 corresponding grooves or depressions be provided.

In Figure 4 is a schematic projection of two Male connectors 11 on a circuit board 6, not shown here, shown attached state. Here are the first Sections 4 'of the contact elements 41 each in four rows 5a up to 5d aligned. The third Sections 4 "'of the contact elements 41 are offset to this Rows 5a 'to 5d' arranged. The second sections 4 " run essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the respective first and third sections 4 ', 4 "' in the Plane. As can be seen from the illustration in FIG. 3 are these second sections 4 "here to the outside over the Bottom 8 of the male connector 11 over, but can also in Wells of the bottom 8 arranged or in the manufacture already poured into the bottom 8.

The alignment of the offset or offset is selected such that two third sections 4 "'of two adjacent rows, for example 5a and 5b, are offset from one another, so that the distance between these third sections 4"' is greater than the distance between the associated rows first sections 4 '.
The second sections 4 ″ of a male connector 11 are preferably all aligned parallel to one another.

In addition, they are square-shaped Guide pins 9 available. The contact elements 41, here the Knife of the knife bars 11, but it can also springs Be female connectors are arranged so that their mutual distances both in the respective rows 5a to 5d - distances "a" - as well as between rows 5a up to 5d distances "b" - are chosen to be the same size. So that's a square diagonal dimension "Q" of the contact elements reached.

According to the embodiment in Figure 4, two of the first Sections 4 'of the contact elements 41 of one essentially U-shaped shielding plate 31 circumscribed Legs 100, 101 parallel to the longitudinal extent of the rows 5a to 5d are aligned, the leg 100 being longer than that Leg 101 is formed. So that is in the top view it can be seen that a over the longitudinal extent of the electrical Contact between the two male connectors 1, though not physically passing through the circuit board 6, however, all-round shielding of the electrical contact is reached.

B. zwischen 5a und 5b.4a shows a male connector 11 as shown in FIG Figure 4 shown, here the shielding plates 31 each in pairs, two first sections 4 'of the contact elements embrace. The distance "a" between two contact elements 41 in one Row, e.g. 5a, is larger than the mutual Distance "b" between two rows, e.g. B. between 5a and 5b.

In Figure 4b, the male connector 11 is upside down displayed. The outward-facing surface "D" of the Bottom 8 can be seen. In addition to the third sections 4 "' the guide pins 9 are shown here. Just like that third sections 4 "'are also perpendicular thereto running, respective second sections 4 "over the Floor area "D" of floor 8 above. The second sections 4 " all contact elements 41 are parallel to each other aligned. The third sections 4 "'of two adjacent Contact elements, for example rows 5a 'and 5b' arranged so offset that their mutual distance is greater than the distance between the first, not shown here Sections 4 '.

Federn, erreicht. With a correspondingly designed female connector, e.g. in the interior formed by floor 8 and walls "A", "B" the male connector 11 is inserted, is also a continuous shielding of the electrical connection between the contact elements 4, e.g. Knives, and that Contact elements on the female connector, e.g. Springs, reached.
