A device, in particular for carrying out the method according to claim 1, comprising deflection rollers, over which the at least one continuous strip comprising card-pocket material is guided, a card feeder for repeatedly supplying cards, a carrier feeder for supplying a carrier (24), at least one connecting device (17) for connecting the at least one continuous strip (23) to the carrier (24) to form a card pocket (21) on the carrier (24), and a cutting arrangement (18) for cutting off one card pocket (21) at a time, wherein the card pocket (21) is fixable to the carrier (24) by means of the connecting device (17) in such a manner that an upper part (23) of the card pocket (21) projects beyond its connection (27, 28) to the carrier (24) on at least one of its sides in such a manner that the upper part (23) can be pulled away from the carrier (24), characterised in that the card feeder (11, 12) positions the supplied cards (12) between two continuous strips (2, 3) guided over the deflection rollers (4, 5, 6, 7), and in that a first connecting device (10) interconnects the two continuous strips, enclosing the card to form the card pocket (21), and a second connecting device (17) repeatedly connects a card pocket (21) to the carrier (24) in such a manner that the covering part (23) can be pulled away from a lower part (22) of the film to release the card (12).
