Description

The invention relates to saddle stitches for the production of magazines, brochures or the like formed from folded printed sheets, consisting of a conveyor line having a saddle-shaped support, along which feeders forming a collecting section are arranged for loading the collecting section with printing sheets, the collecting section along the support along the investors interacting cyclically, the printed sheets placed at regular intervals to a drive means continuously conveying to a stitching section adjoining the collecting section of the conveying section, and the stitching section is designed with a stapling device of a stitching station which passes through the fold of the printed products formed from collected printed sheets with staples.

Among the saddlestitchers of the type described at the outset there are those in which the printed sheets are briefly stopped during stapling on a conveyor path and others in which the printed sheets to be stapled are moved by a staple running over a stapling time Stitching sled on the back fold can be combined (read in CH - A - 337 177 and the relevant state of the art). The latter achieve a production output of around 18,000 copies in an hour and thus reach a mechanical load limit on the saddle stitcher.

Das Heften erfolgt bei drehender Trommel und auf den Förderstrecken stillstehenden Druckbogen.DE-B-36 16 566 discloses a saddle stitcher in which a plurality of conveying sections are arranged on the circumference of a rotating drum, on which the printed sheets are collected on a collecting section of the conveying section and conveyed to a subsequent stitching section. Stapling takes place with the drum rotating and the printed sheets stationary on the conveyor lines.

Saddle stitchers of this type have a double production output compared to the traditional saddle stitchers described above; they are several times more expensive in terms of their nature and their use proves to be economical if long runs are processed. I.e. on the other hand, that orders in smaller print runs prove to be unprofitable, or that the high operating costs would increase the selling price of the printed products to an unbearable level.

The object of the present invention is therefore to create a saddle stitcher of the type mentioned at the outset, with which the processing of printed products can be improved economically, taking into account the setting times and the order sizes.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that at least one further stapling device driven in a clocked manner with the stapling device along the stitching section Stapling station is arranged.
As a result, the rotary movement leading to the oscillating movement of the stapling devices, for example. by doubling the flight circle of a crank drive used for driving compared to the previous circular path of the crank and the centrifugal forces generated so far with the rotary motion without loss of performance of the saddle stitcher, and on the other hand the possibility arises by increasing the speed of the rotary movements or the oscillating movements of the stapling devices to increase the performance of a saddle stitcher along the stitching section.

Subsequently, the invention is explained with reference to the drawing, to which reference is made with regard to all details not mentioned in the description, using two exemplary embodiments. Show it:

1 illustrates a conveyor section 2 of a saddle stitcher 1 at the end of a saddle section 3 to which a saddle section 7 is connected. The conveyor section 2 is designed as a saddle-shaped support on which printed sheets (not shown) astride in the area of the collecting section 3 by means of feeders arranged next to one another in the conveying direction F. Printed products are placed one on top of the other and are fed to a stapling section 7 adjoining the collecting section 3 by a conveying device 4 having a drive means 6 or a driver. The conveying device 4 acting along the conveying path consists of an endlessly rotating traction element, to which the drive means 6 or drivers are fastened at regular intervals. The printed products 5 formed on the collecting section 3 from spread sheets placed one on top of the other are gripped by the drive means 6 striking the rear edge of the printed products 5 for stapling. Both the stitching and the collection of the printed sheets is carried out with the conveyor 4 running continuously, ie during the stitching process on the stitching section 7, the stitching device 9 of the stationary stitching station 10 follows the printed products 5 with the same resp. at approximately the same speed.
For this purpose, the stitching device 9 is fastened to a stitching carriage 11 which is guided along the stitching section 7 and is driven in an oscillating manner.
As can be seen in FIG. 1, the stapling device 9, which is formed here from two stapling heads 12 in each case, is driven by means of a crank drive 13, which is connected to the stapling carriage 11 via a link 14 shown. In the illustrated position of the crank drive 13, the stapling carriage 11 moves at the highest speed, which corresponds to the conveying speed of the printed products 8 on the conveying path 2, and then experiences a delay due to the ongoing change in the crank position, which in the one end position of the carriage by beginning acceleration ends. At this acceleration, which changes into a deceleration, the stitching carriage 11 is on the way back to the starting position, where the stitching cycle or the stitching movement of the Stapling carriage 11 is initiated with a renewed acceleration to the conveying speed of the printed products 5. By arranging a further stapling station 20 on the stapling section 7 of the conveyor section 2, the stapling device 19 of which is connected to the stapling device 9 of the stapling station 10 via the stapling carriage 21 assigned to it and a connecting device 15 or connecting rod, the stapling performance of the stapling devices 9, 19 can be increased Stapling stations 10, 20 can be reduced in the sense of a gentle procedure, without having to impair the performance of the saddle stitcher 1. That is, each stapling device 9, 19 staples only every second printed product 5, of which the ones labeled A are exclusively assigned to the stapling device 9 at the stapling station 10 and the printed products 5 denoted A 'are only assigned to the stapling device 19 of the stapling station 20. As a result, the staple preparations made in the stapling devices 9, 19 and the stapling itself (= stapling cycle) can be carried out over a longer period of time than before, and consequently the stress on the affected machine parts and their wear on the stapling devices can be considerably reduced.

Of course, this arrangement also allows the use of two coupled crank drives 13, each of which acts on a stapling device 9, 19 instead of the connecting device 15.

Otherwise, the staples of the stapled printed products 5 are denoted by 16 in the drawing.

In Fig. 2 ist eine Ausführung eines Sammelhefters 1 gezeigt, die aufbauend auf dem Prinzip mehrerer Heftstationen an einer Förderstrecke gemäss Fig. 1 eine weitere erhebliche Verbesserung der Ausbildung eines Sammelhefters erlaubt.FIG. 2 shows an embodiment of a saddle stitcher 1 which, based on the principle of a plurality of stapling stations on a conveyor line according to FIG. 1, is a further considerable improvement allowed to form a saddle stitcher.

In contrast to FIG. 1, in the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the stapling devices 9, 19 of two stapling stations 10, 20 located on the stapling section 7 are driven in opposite directions with respect to their movement along the conveyor path 2 and alternately with respect to the stapling. That is, one stapling device 9 carries out a stapling stroke while the other stapling device 19 is on the way back to the starting position, so that the moving masses of the stapling devices are balanced. In this regard, the arrow positions assigned to the stitching slides 11, 21 and the stitching devices 9, 19 convey this process. While the stapling device 9 then carries out the printing product A, the stapling device 19 runs against the conveying direction F into the starting position in order to then reverse in the same direction of movement as the printing product A 'which has arrived below it. According to FIG. 2, again a crank gear arrangement is used, consisting of two identical crank drives 13, 17, each of which is coupled by a link 14 to a stitching carriage 11, 21 of the stitching devices 10, 20.

A lever mechanism which is moved by a rotationally driven, endless control track 23 is connected to the stitching carriage 11 of the stitching device 9 at the front in the conveying direction F according to FIG. 1.

In the case of an embodiment as illustrated in FIG. 2, two control tracks 23 which are driven out of phase are required in order to drive the stapling devices 9, 19 on the conveyor section 2 in an oscillating manner in opposite directions.
