Abstract

A wall for a bath (2), including at least one liftable panel (4) pivotably mounted on a frame, and a spring (20) for assisting lifting of the panel (4). Said wall is provided with portions (24, 26, 28, 30) for deflecting the force of the spring (20) from its point of engagement with the panel (12) to an abutment (26) on the frame (10) when the wall is lowered onto the rim of the shower tray. The deflecting portions include opposed sloping bearing surfaces (28, 30) for dividing the force (1, 3) imparted by the user to cause translation of the wall into a vertical thrust moving the wall and a thrust acting perpendicularly to the spring (20) to move said spring (20) in the transverse direction.

Description

The invention is in the field of housing amenities, and its purpose is a wall, said shower screen to use a bathtub as a receiver shower.

De telles parois sont notamment décrites dans FR-A-2683441 et WO-A-93/24042.We know walls for equip bathtubs to screen against projection of water out of the tank. These walls include one or several panels connected to each other by sliding or in pivoting, which can rest in abutment against the edge of the tank or alternatively to be raised and folded down against the wall above the fittings. A spring, such that a gas spring provides assistance in lifting the or panels by the user. Such walls are in particular described in FR-A-2683441 and WO-A-93/24042.

It is important for the contact of the panel on the edge of the tank is waterproof, the wall weighs full weight to compress a joint at the bottom edge of the panel, and therefore in the lower position of the panel the spring does not push against the compression of the joint; it is also important to compensate for a possible lack of squareness between the frame and the edge of the bathtub.

The wall of the invention is of the kind abovementioned comprising at least one panel consisting of a frame formed of profiles supporting a glazing, the said panel being sliding mounted along a wall profile fixed to the frame by through a profile on which it is mounted swivel, so that the panel can either be in support against the edge of the tank in a so-called low position, or be raised, in a so-called high position, and be folded down against the frame above the tap, the said wall being equipped with lifting assistance means comprising a spring, gas in particular, housed in the wall profile and interposed in compression between support members respectively supported by the intermediate profile and the wall profile, so that the spring exerts a upward push on the intermediate profile slightly greater than the weight of the panel.

To meet the requirements mentioned above, the inventive step consisted in equipping the wall of means for deflecting the spring thrust of the support it takes on the support member supported by the intermediate profile, towards a stop supported by the wall profile, when the wall is brought to the low position.

It follows from these provisions that the spring no longer exerting an upward thrust on the wall in low position, it can rest naturally from all its weight on the edge of the tub.

Advantageously, the so-called means of deviation include means for breaking down the effort provided by the user to move the wall in translation with a view to raising or lowering it, a vertical thrust inducing said displacement of the wall on the one hand, and in a push perpendicular to the general orientation of the spring inducing an offset transverse of it on the other hand.

It follows from these provisions a automatic implementation of said deviation means for place the spring, either in abutment against the support member supported by the intermediate profile, either pressing against the stop supported by the wall profile, depending on the direction of displacement in translation of the wall. In others terms, the user has means of assistance to lifting the wall that it uses to raise the wall or alternatively it retracts when lowering of the wall, without having to worry, that is to say, perform additional gestures to those aimed at relieving and lower the panel.

For example, the deflection means comprise antagonistic inclined support planes formed respectively on the stop and on said panel lifting support member, the distance d transversely separating the stop from the lifting support member of the panel being less than its transverse dimensions, so that the spring, depending on the upward or downward thrust exerted by the user on the panel, takes a sliding bearing alternately along each of the inclined planes, and finally is biased alternately towards the stop or the support member for lifting the panel, stop and support member against which it alternately bears when these are in a position overhanging it.

  • It will be understood that, in an equivalent manner and without departing from the general rule stated and illustrated in this example:
  • 1.- the said inclined planes can be either curved or planar, and can be indifferently arranged, or on the part of the spring bearing on the stop and on the support member for lifting the panel, and / or on the stop and said support member.
  • 2.- in the event that the wall is articulated between the intermediate profile and the wall profile, the panel would be slidably mounted along the intermediate profile and the spring would bear against the intermediate profile and on the panel in view of its lifting, and that the provisions relating to the arrangement of the preferred deflection means of the invention would then be applied in correspondence for the intermediate profit and for the profit of the frame of the panel opposite thereon, of the same way as has just been described respectively for the wall profit and the intermediate profit.

  • The present invention will be better understood, and details will be apparent from the description which will be made of a preferred embodiment, in connection with the figures in the appended plates, in which:
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 are illustrations of a wall of the type of those to which the invention relates, placed in its context of use,
  • FIGS. 3 and 4 are successive block diagrams of the invention, according to a preferred embodiment,
  • FIGS. 5 and 6 are sectional views, respectively longitudinal and transverse, of a wall of the invention according to the preferred embodiment illustrated in the preceding diagrams,
  • fig.7 is a detail of fig.6,
  • Fig.8 is a partial perspective view partially broken away of a wall illustrated in the previous views.
1 and 2, a bath 2 is equipped with a wall composed of several panels, such that 4, articulated to each other and made up of a glazing 6 supported by a frame formed from profiles, such as 8. An end panel 4 is slidably mounted along a wall profile 10, via a profile 12 on which it is pivotally mounted 14, so that the panels 4 can either be lowered to a low position resting against the edge 16 of the bath 2 (fig. 1), or be raised to a high position to be folded down above valve 18 (fig. 2).

5 and 6, a spring 20 to gas exerts a thrust greater than the weight of the wall to provide the user with assistance in lifting it, the spring 20 being housed in the wall profile 10 and bearing on a member 22 fixed on the wall profile on the one hand, and on a member 24 supported by the profile intermediate 12. So that the panels 4 making up the wall rest tightly on the edge 16 of the bath 2, the invention proposes to break the support of the spring 20 on the wall so that it naturally rests from all its weight on the edge 16 of the bath 2.

3 and 4, the thrust of the spring 20 is deflected between two supports, from one under the support member 24 supported by the intermediate profile 12, to another under a stop 26 supported by the wall profile 10. Support planes 28 and 30 antagonists are respectively provided on the stop 26 and on the support member 24 of the spring 20 on the intermediate section 12. It will be noted that the distance d separating transversely the stop 26 and the said support member 24 is less than the transverse size of the spring 20. The support planes 28 and 30 transversely urge the spring 20 and places it in engagement, either under the stop 26 under the effect of a downward movement ( arrow 1) of the intermediate section 12, as illustrated in fig.4 and dotted on fig.5 and 8, either under said support member 24 under the effect of an upward movement (arrow 3 ) of the intermediate section 12, as illustrated in FIGS. 3, 5 and 8.

Thus structured, the wall 4 is automatically freed from all ascending constraints for naturally rest on the edge 16 of the bath 2 when of its lowering by the user, and automatically placed under the thrust effect of the spring 20 during its lifting.

We will understand that it is enough to do naturally rest the wall 4 on the edge of the sink the thrust exerted by the spring 20 of the support it takes on the panel 4, and that the presence of the stop 22 at against the expansion of the spring 20, which would be without this presence freed from any compression, allows to place spring 20 again on its path for lifting from panel 4.

In FIGS. 5 to 8, which illustrate a preferred embodiment of the invention according to which the inclined planes 28 and 30 are formed on the stop 26 and the said support member 24:
    • the stop 26 supported by the wall profile 10 is formed by an elongated trapezoid-shaped rod, made of plastic for example, extending over a length substantially equivalent to that of the spring 20, for maintaining the latter along its axis of expansion, or in other words to avoid bending of the spring 20 when the panel 4 is in the high position; the rod 26 is preferably attached, for example by gluing, in a corridor 32, said first, formed inside the wall profile 10.
    • the support member 24 for lifting the panel 4 is shaped as a short trapezoid and is attached, for example by screwing, against an outer face of the intermediate section 12, the latter being slidably mounted in a corridor 34, called second, arranged in the wall profile 10 opposite the first corridor 32.

According to another aspect of the invention, the intermediate section 12 is guided with play along the second corridor 34 via a couple of trains rollers 36 which it supports at each of its ends.

It follows from these provisions a certain seal between the entire wall and the edge 16 of tray 2 notwithstanding a bad squaring between the frame 38 and the edge 16 of tray 2, due to the possibility for each of the panels 4 to take a respective support on the edge 16 of tray 2 thanks to the presence of said clearance.

Note in fig. 7 the judicious structure of the roller trains 36, the rollers 40 and 42 making up each of said trains 36 being connected to each other by slightly floating socket.

Bien que l'on ait décrit et représenté une forme préférée de réalisation de l'invention, il doit être compris que la portée de cette dernière n'est pas limitée à cette forme mais qu'elle s'étend à toute paroi comportant les caractéristiques énoncées plus haut, telle que définie dans les revendicationsAlthough we have described and depicted a preferred embodiment of the invention, it should be understood that the scope of the latter is not not limited to this shape but extends to any wall having the characteristics set out above, such as defined in the claims

Screen for a shower tray or bath (2), of the type of screen which comprises at least one panel (4) consisting of a frame formed of profiled sections (8) supporting glazing (6), the said panel (4) being mounted so that it can slide along a wall-mounted profiled section (10) fixed to the supporting structure (38) by means of a profiled section (12) on which it is mounted in such a way that it can pivot (14), so that the panel (4) can either bear against the edge (16) of the tray (2) in a position known as the lowered position, or be raised into a position known as the raised position and be folded against the supporting structure (38) above the taps (18), the said screen being equipped with means for assisting with raising, these means comprising a spring (20) housed in the wall-mounted profiled section (10) and interposed in compression between the bearing members (22, 24) respectively supported by the intermediate profiled section (12) and the wall-mounted profiled section (10) in such a way that the spring (20) exerts an upward thrust on the intermediate profiled section (12), this thrust being slightly greater than the weight of the panel (4), characterized in that it is equipped with means (24, 26, 28, 30) for deflecting the thrust of the spring (20) from where it bears on the bearing member (24) supported by the intermediate profiled section (12) towards a stop (26) supported by the wall-mounted profiled section (10) when the screen is brought into the lowered position (Figs. 3, 4).
    2. Screen according to Claim 1, characterized in that the said deflection means comprise means (28, 30) for breaking down the effort supplied by the user to shift the screen (4) in translation with a view to raising it or lowering it, into, on the one hand, a vertical thrust which brings about the said shifting of the screen (4), and into, on the other hand, a thrust perpendicular to the overall orientation of the spring (20) causing this spring (20) to become offset transversely.
    3. Screen according to Claim 2, characterized in that the deflection means comprise antagonistic inclined bearing planes (28, 30) formed respectively on the stop (22) and on the said bearing member (24) for raising the panel, the distance d transversely separating the stop (22) from the bearing member (24) for raising the panel (4) being smaller than its transverse size (20).
    4. Screen according to Claim 3, characterized in that the stop (22) supported by the wall-mounted profiled section (10) is formed of a strip in the form of an elongate trapezohedron extending over a length substantially equivalent to that of the spring (20), the said strip (22) being attached inside a channel (32) known as the first channel formed inside the wall-mounted profiled section (10), and in that the bearing member (24) for raising the panel (4) is shaped as a short trapezohedron and is attached against an external face of the intermediate profiled section (12), the latter (12) being mounted in such a way that it can slide in a channel (34) known as the second channel formed in the wall-mounted profiled section (10) on the opposite side to the first channel (32).
    5. Wall according to Claim 4, characterized in that the intermediate profiled section (12) is guided with clearance along the second channel (34) by a couple of sets (36) of rollers (40, 42) which it supports at each of its ends.
