Abstract

The door retainer for a door or window comprises a lever (18) whose upper end (19) is fixed by a pivot (21) which is itself mounted to slide in a groove (22) in the rebate of the door frame.   • et lorsque ledit levier 18 est écarté de cette position de repos verticale, cette extrémité 19 définit avec la butée 38 une seule zone de contact 41 (ou 42) décalée par rapport au plan médian vertical 36 engendrant, au niveau de ce levier 18 et sous l'influence des moyens de rappel élastique 37, un couple de rappel en position de repos verticale jusqu'à ce que les deux zones de contact 41, 42 soient rétablies.

Stay for a door, window or the like, comprising a lever (18) the upper end (19) of which is fixed by means of a hinging pivot (21), which is, in turn, slidingly fitted in a groove (22), on a support (7) arranged in the fillister of the stile (9) of the sash-frame (4) or of the leaf (3) and allows said lever (18), on the one hand, to pivot about an axis (20) parallel to the plane (10) of the door, window or the like and perpendicular to said stile (9) and, on the other hand, to slide, parallelly to the longitudinal direction of this latter, in the groove (22), the lower end (23) of this lever (18) being capable of co-operating with a coupling organ (24) that can be operated through a control knob (25) fitted, as the case may be, on the leaf (3) or on the sash-frame (4), springy restoring means (37) acting on this lever (18) to restore its hinging pivot (21) in abutment (38) in the upper portion (39) of this groove (22), characterized in that:
    the springy restoring means (37) are located in the upper extension of the lever (18);
    this latter has a symmetrical configuration with respect to its vertical median plane (36);
    this stay includes indexing means (40) ensuring the restoring into a vertical position of the lever (18) under the action of the springy restoring means (37);
    these features acting in combination to authorize the reversibility of said stay (1) for a left-hand or the right-hand fitting on the sash-frame (4) or, as the case may be, on the leaf (3).
  2. Stay according to claim 1, characterized in that the springy restoring means (37) are formed of a helical spring arranged in a recess (43) provided for this purpose at the level of the support (7) and located in the upper extension of the groove (22).
  3. Stay according to claim 2, characterized in that one end of the helical spring co-operates with coupling means (44) located at the bottom of the recess (43), whereas the opposite end is made integral with the end (19) of the lever (18).
  4. Stay according to claim 3, characterized in that the end of the helical spring aimed at being made integral with the end (19) of the lever (18) acts on the hinging pivot (21) slidingly fitted in the groove (22).
  5. Stay according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the lever (18) includes, at its lower end (23), two elongated holes (35, 35A) arranged on both sides of the vertical median plane (36) and capable of receiving the coupling organ (24).
  6. Stay according to claim 1, characterized in that the indexing means (40) are formed by an end (19) of the lever (18) and a thrust (38) aimed at co-operating with this latter, which are determined as follows:
    when the lever (18) is in its vertical resting position, its end (19) defines, with the thrust (38), at least two contact areas (41, 42) symmetrically located on both sides of the vertical median plane (36) of this lever (18);
    and when said lever (18) is separated from this vertical resting position, this end (19) defines, with the thrust (38), one single contact area (41) or (42) offset with respect to the vertical median plane (36) causing, at the level of this lever (18) and under the action of the springy restoring means (37), a couple of restoring into the vertical resting position until both contact areas (41, 42) are restored.
  7. Stay according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the support (7) is fitted in the fillister (8) of the stile (9) of the sash-frame (4) or of the leaf (3) by fixing means (11) in the shape of screws (12) made unremovable through means for locking in rotation (13) accessible from the inside of the room.
  8. Stay according to claim 7, characterized in that the support (7) includes countersinkings (15) in which are aimed at being sunk the head (14) of the screws (12), whereas the means for locking in rotation (13) these screws (12) are formed of a pin (16) inserted in a hole (17) provided for in this support (7), perpendicularly to the axis of the countersinkings (15), while crossing these latter, so that said pin (16) passes above the screws (12), impeding these latter from being unscrewed.
