Definitions
- the invention relates to a display case for secure access to objects, in particular art objects in museums and exhibitions, with at least two glass panes arranged at an angle to one another, of which one glass pane with its entire end face lies opposite the edge of the flat side of the other glass pane.
- Preventive fire protection is particularly important in museums and exhibitions because of the mostly valuable exhibits.
- many museum and exhibition buildings are of older construction, so that the possibilities of contemporary fire protection can often not be consistently realized, especially with a historical monument in mind.
- Fire protection glazing is known from EP 0 498 021 B1, with which the passage of fire and smoke in the event of fire from one room into another can be avoided.
- the fire protection glazing is therefore part of a building's technical equipment, so that with this glazing, building technical issues must be taken into account, such as the statics of the glazing as a whole.
- a system of profiles arranged on both sides of the fire protection panes is proposed, it being only these profiles that give the fire protection panes the required lateral support.
- This publication does not contain references to the manufacture of display cases.
- the invention has for its object to achieve improved fire protection in museums, exhibitions, etc., even in those cases in which the respective exhibition rooms are not or only insufficiently suitable for preventive fire protection measures.
- all glass panes are fire protection panes which contain an agent which foams up under the action of heat, and that a narrow, preferably with one melting away in the event of a fire Sealant sealed joint remains, which is closed in the event of fire by the protective agent emerging from the end face.
- Such a display case is particularly suitable for preventive fire protection in those rooms of museums, galleries, exhibitions, etc. in which other fire protection measures cannot be implemented or can only be implemented incompletely.
- the fire protection panes used offer the additional advantage of active cooling through the layers in the fire protection panes made of a protective active ingredient that foams when exposed to heat. So that it can emerge from the end faces of the fire protection panes after its activation, a narrow joint remains between the end face of one fire protection pane and the edge of the flat side of the other fire protection pane, which is closed in the event of a fire by the protective agent emerging from the end face.
- the joint is preferably closed with a sealing compound, so that the inside of the display case is hermetically sealed off from the outside atmosphere.
- Such a display case is also suitable for cases in which the objects exhibited therein require air conditioning.
- the edge area including the joint is covered by an angle. This measure prevents damage to the sensitive glass edges and also improves the visual appearance of the display case.
- an additional angle can be attached in the corner area between the two fire protection panes.
- Fire protection can be further improved by arranging a layer of sealing compound between the angle and the edge of the respective fire protection window.
- the sealing compound also has the advantage of preventing smoke from entering the interior of the showcase prematurely.
- the one fire protection pane is connected via a hinge to the other, arranged at an angle to the one fire protection pane. In this way, it is not necessary to dismantle the entire display case when changing the objects to be exhibited.
- the hinge is preferably formed at an angle which covers the edge area including the joint.
- the display case is closed at the bottom by a base plate which is made of fire protection material and in the top of which grooves are formed for receiving the lower edges of the vertically arranged fire protection panes.
- a showcase constructed in this way can be set up freely in the room, for example on supports screwed to the underside of the base plate.
- the display case according to the invention is also possible to attach to the floor of the room, or to a wall or in a wall recess. It is essential in each case that in the edge region of two fire protection panes, the entire end face of one fire protection pane is opposite the edge of the flat side of the other fire protection pane, forming a joint. In this way, it is securely closed in the event of a fire by the protective agent emerging from the end face of the fire protection panes, so that a box which cannot be penetrated by fire and heat is produced.
- the all-closed showcase shown in Fig. 1 consists of a base plate 1, which is supported on a total of four supports 2, and a glass case arranged on the base plate 1 with a total of five transparent glass surfaces 3.
- a glass case arranged on the base plate 1 with a total of five transparent glass surfaces 3.
- In the interior formed by the glass surfaces 3 can be Exhibit art objects in a way that is secure and protected from the effects of fire and smoke.
- the base plate 1 is composed of two interconnected plates 1a, 1b made of a fire protection material.
- Such fire protection panels are commercially available in many sizes and thicknesses.
- the upper 1b of the two plates forms a groove 4 with a rectangular cross section for receiving the lower edge of the vertical glass surface.
- This vertical glass surface is formed by a fire protection pane 5, on which, as can be seen in FIG. 2, a horizontal glass surface in the form of a fire protection pane 6 is also arranged.
- a total of three fire protection panes 5,5 ′, 6 meet one another, so that there is at least three-sided glazing in the manner of a display case.
- the fire protection panes 5,5 ', 6 are panes made of a special laminated glass, which consists of several glass panes with fire protection layers 7 arranged in between. These fire protection layers 7 contain a protective agent that is activated in the event of a fire, absorbing heat radiation and thus forming an effective insulation layer that prevents the passage of fire and smoke. Such fire protection panes have hitherto been used as a component of fire protection glazing, which are used for the fire-safe subdivision of rooms or parts of buildings.
- a corresponding silicone-based sealing compound is also used to ensure that the fire protection panes 5, 6 are sealed against metal angles 11, 12.
- the outer metal bracket 11 covers the edge area including the joint 10, while the metal bracket 12 is arranged in the corner area between the two fire protection panes 5, 6.
- the outer metal bracket 11a is provided with a hinge 11b.
- Metal bracket 11a and hinge 11b are designed in the manner of a piano hinge, so that for the purpose of exchanging the objects arranged in the display case, the fire protection window 6 can be pivoted about the fire protection window 5.
- a total of three fire protection panes 5, 5 ′, 6 collide, it also being advantageous here if a joint 10 remains in each case.
- the three fire protection panes 5,5 'and 6 meet each other in such a way that in the edge region of two glass surfaces arranged at an angle to one another, one fire protection pane with its entire end face lies opposite the edge of the flat side of the other fire protection pane.
- the fire protection panes 5, 5 'arranged at right angles to one another both face the edge of the flat side of the horizontally lying fire protection pane 6 with their end faces arranged in the same plane.
- the outer metal brackets 11 are shown cut open in FIG. 4 in order to make it easier to see the arrangement of the three fire protection panes 5, 5 ′, 6.
