Definitions

  • the present invention relates generally to packages made from cardboard or the like according to the preamble of claim 1, in particular for the combination of several containers, e.g. Bottles.
  • the documents US-A-3394800 and DE-U-8605398 disclose generic packs.
  • the conventional method for producing such a closed folding box is to start from a one-piece blank from folded and pre-glued cardboard, to set up the blank in the first step, to put the contents in the partially set-up package, and then to complete the molding process and the various fastening parts of the blank to connect with each other.
  • the invention has for its object to propose a new cardboard box, which is economical and easy to set up and which also requires no glue.
  • Figs. 1 and 2 show two blanks which are intended to work together to form a closed package.
  • Each of these two blanks is one on both sides of a central longitudinal axis xx and on both sides central transverse axis yy symmetrical.
  • Figs. 1 and 2 show two blanks which are intended to work together to form a closed package.
  • Each of these two blanks is one on both sides of a central longitudinal axis xx and on both sides central transverse axis yy symmetrical.
  • only one section of each blank is therefore described in detail (the northwest quarter of the drawings), because the other sections can be derived because of the symmetry already mentioned and the same areas or elements are identified by the same reference numbers.
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 are shown on the same scale.
  • the blank 100 shown in Fig. 1 consists of a central main area 110 which defines a bottom wall of the package, in which two rows of four locking openings 112 each are provided which are intended to interact with locking tabs belonging to the other blank and later to be discribed.
  • the bottom region 110 also has four rectangular openings 114, which are arranged outside the two rows of the openings 112 and are intended for the transport of the blank with the aid of fingers or the like when the pack is being manufactured on a machine.
  • two rectangular tabs 120 are arranged, which are of the same length.
  • the bottom area 110 and the tabs 120 are connected by fold lines 115.
  • two areas adjoin the base area, which form front walls, each of these areas consisting of a first section 130, which is adjacent to area 110 and is intended to form a lower vertical section of the front wall, and a second section 140, which forms an upper section is to form the front wall, which runs somewhat obliquely at a protruding angle to the vertical, in order to adapt to the neck area of the bottles which are to be combined in the pack.
  • a fold line 116 connects the area 110 to each area 130 and a fold line 135 connects each area 130 to the respectively adjacent area 140.
  • the fold lines 115 run parallel to one another and to the longitudinal direction of the blank.
  • the fold lines 116 and 135 run parallel to one another and transversely to the longitudinal direction of the blank
  • Fold lines 136 separate the areas 130 from the respective tabs 150 and extend in the longitudinal direction of the blank.
  • Fold lines 145 separate the areas 140 from the respective tabs 160. These lines 145 start from the areas 130 and run somewhat obliquely inward with respect to the longitudinal direction of the blank.
  • a substantially rectangular opening 155 is provided at the transition between each pair of flaps 150, 160, which extends from the end of the flaps next to the corresponding fold line 135 and extends over part (approximately half) of the width of these flaps.
  • Each opening is extended to the free edge of the tabs 150, 160 by two fold lines, one of these fold lines 156 delimiting the tab 150 and extending essentially as an extension of the adjacent fold line 135, while the other 157 delimits the tab 160 and is somewhat oblique moved away from line 156.
  • the opening 155 and the fold lines 156, 157 delimit a compensation area 180 provided for the purposes set out below.
  • each tab 150 terminates with an edge which runs obliquely with respect to the adjacent straight edge of the tab 120.
  • each tab 160 terminates with a beveled edge, that with the outer edge 140a of the blank meet in the longitudinal direction at a point which is offset to the outside with respect to the point at which the fold line 145 meets the said edge 140a.
  • each flap 160 In its area opposite the compensating area 180, each flap 160 finally consists of a locking opening 162, which in the present example is characterized by a straight edge 162a, which is collinear with the adjacent fold line 145, by a further straight edge 162b, which is substantially perpendicular to said fold line 145 extends through a further straight edge 162c which extends substantially along the beveled edge 160a and finally is delimited by a substantially curved edge 162d which connects the straight edges 162a and 162c to one another. It is of course also possible to give the openings 162 other shapes.
  • FIG. 2 a second blank (200) will be described that is used with the blank 100 to define a closed package according to the invention.
  • the blank 200 consists of a central area 210 which is to form a top wall of the pack.
  • a central area 210 which is to form a top wall of the pack.
  • conventionally designed cut lines 211 with the shape of parts of an ellipse are provided, which are articulated on transverse fold lines 212 and which together with these fold lines delimit tabs which are to be pressed downward into the package in order to hold them to facilitate the pack.
  • two fold lines 216 are arranged, which meet the articulation line in the vicinity of the cutting line 211 and which prevent the lids of the containers from being an obstacle in this process when the flaps are pressed down by the aforementioned.
  • pre-cut lines 213 which start from the pre-cut lines 211 and diverge towards the transverse edges of the cover area 210. These pre-cut lines 213 allow the package to be opened in a conventional manner to remove the containers.
  • Fold lines 214 also extend from the four corners of area 210 and extend to the corresponding free ends of cut lines 211. Their purpose is to optimize the distribution of the stresses when the filled package is defined by the tabs pressed down Handle is gripped, and in particular to prevent tearing of the box in the area of these tabs.
  • Areas are provided on each side of the central region 210 in the longitudinal direction, which are intended to form side walls of the pack.
  • Each area consists of a first section 230 and a second section 240.
  • Each area 240 defines a lower, vertically oriented part of the side wall, while each area 230 defines an upper part of the side wall, which is arranged somewhat obliquely at a protruding angle to accommodate this Adjust the neck area of the container.
  • Transverse fold lines 215 separate the area 210 from the adjacent areas 230.
  • Transverse fold lines 235 separate the areas 230 from the respective areas 240.
  • Each area 230 includes longitudinally pre-cut lines 233 that extend the pre-cut lines 213 of the top wall 210.
  • the free ends of these pre-cut lines 233 are connected to one another by a corresponding fold line 234 which extends in the transverse direction.
  • a tab 250 is disposed on each side of each area 230.
  • Fold lines 236 separate each area 230 from the adjacent tabs 250. These fold lines 236 extend from the ends of the fold lines 217 and extend somewhat obliquely outwards.
  • a square opening 255 is provided in the area of each flap 250 near the adjacent corner of the deck area 210, one straight edge of this opening being aligned with the fold line 236, while the other straight edge is aligned with a fold line 225 which is aligned extends somewhat obliquely outwards and delimits the respective side tab 220.
  • a fold line 256 which runs approximately as a bisector between the adjacent fold lines 225 and 236, also starts from the corner between the two other straight edges of the opening 255.
  • This fold line does not extend to the free longitudinal edge of the flap 250. It becomes extended by a cutting line consisting of a first straight section 257a, which is oriented at a protruding angle to the opposite end of the adjacent tab 250, and a second straight section 257b, which the free end of the straight section 257a with the free longitudinal edge of the adjacent flap 250 connects and has an orientation that is slightly closer to the transverse direction than the fold line 256.
  • Each opening 255 in conjunction with the respective fold line 256 and section line 257a, 257b, forms the separation between the adjacent flap 250 and an area 270 with a complicated shape.
  • This area 270 is separated from the adjacent side flap 220 by the fold line 225 described above.
  • each flap 250 terminates with an oblique edge which meets the corresponding end of the fold line 235.
  • Each area 240 is rectangular and has no side tabs.
  • the blank shown in FIG. 2 has two areas 260 at its longitudinal ends, which are intended to form bottom walls of the package, which cover the bottom wall 110 of the other blank, as will be described below.
  • Transversal fold lines 245 separate each area 240 from the adjacent area 260.
  • Each region 260 includes a plurality of longitudinally projecting locking tabs 262 (four in this case) having a generally trapezoidal shape which are intended to cooperate with the openings 112 of the blank shown in Fig. 1 in a manner which is inherent is known and is not described.
  • trapezoidal openings 264 are also arranged along each folding line 245 in the adjacent region 260 and are intended in particular to facilitate the folding of the blank along the folding lines 245.
  • the tabs 150, 160 and 120 are folded 90 ° against the bottles.
  • the blank 200 is placed over the blank 100 so that its longitudinal direction y-y is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction x-x of the blank 100 and its central region 210 lies on the top surfaces of the bottles.
  • the upper wall portions 140 have previously been folded slightly inward to conform to the shape of the neck portion of the bottles, the angle between each portion 130 and the adjacent portion 140 being slightly less than 180 degrees. During this movement, the lines 156, 157 are folded to form a Z-shaped profile with the subsequent superimposition of the areas 180 and the adjacent parts of the tabs 150, 160.
  • the blank 100 set up according to this method can now interact with the blank 200, which is set up by the following steps: the aligned tabs 220, 250 are at least partially folded down and - while they are held in this position - the side wall-forming regions 230, 240 are folded against the open sides of the blank 100.
  • the oblique fold line 256 of each region 270 supports the Z-shaped folding of the material along the fold lines 225, 256 in these regions in order to finally bring the regions 270 and the adjacent parts of the tabs 220, 250 into position with respect to one another.
  • each carton section defined by the cut lines 257a, 257b defines a locking tab 270a which temporarily protrudes inward into the carton by being pushed into an opening 162 of the blank 100 opposite it.
  • each flap 250 and each adjacent area 270 has been folded against the inside of the side wall area 230 and the cardboard section between the beveled edge of each flap 160 and the adjacent straight one Edge 162c of opening 162 has been enclosed between the locking tab 270a and the inside of the corresponding side wall region 230.
  • the neck regions of the bottles provide for holding in this position and mutual locking at an intermediate height between the floor and the top surface, which is determined by the position of the locking tabs 270a and therefore the cutting lines 257a, 257b between the upper sections 140, 230 of the front walls and the Side walls, is achieved.
  • tabs 250 and the areas 270 ensure that the tabs 220 are held in an obliquely slightly less than 90 ° downward position with respect to the surface of the deck area 210.
  • These tabs 220 thus represent upper front walls, which in turn have the function of holding the front wall areas 130, 140 by acting on the plane of their upper areas.
  • the final step in setting up the package is to place the portions 260 of the blank 200 under the bottom portion 110 of the blank 100 fold and make the final locking of the package through the tabs 262 and 112 openings.
  • the side walls 230, 240 ensure that the tabs 120, 150, 160 of the blank 100 are held which extend inwards against the side walls.
  • Figure 3 is a diagrammatic representation of the shape of the finished package. It is noted that all surfaces of the package are substantially flat, which is particularly advantageous from an aesthetic point of view.
  • FIG 4 shows the interaction between a tab 160 in the area of its opening 162 and an area 270 and the adjacent tabs in order to ensure the above-mentioned locking between the side wall and the front wall at intermediate height.
  • the slanted fold line 256 after installation is substantially parallel to the straight edge 162c of the opening 162.
