As a result, the energy of vibration of the charging member 2 can be reduced, thus reducing the produced charging noise level.
  • Figure 3 is a graph of the noise level relative to the specific gravity of the foamed material 2b. The hardness of the charging member 2 is approx. 45 degrees (Asker-C). From the graph of Figure 3, it will be understood that the specific gravity of the foamed material 2b is preferably 0.6 g/cm3 for the purpose of suppressing the noise to the non-uncomfortable level (not more than 50 dB).
