Definitions
- the invention relates to a flame-retardant noise barrier made of acrylic glass, consisting of supports anchored in the ground and fastened to them, e.g. 10 to 30 mm thick acrylic glass panes.
- German utility model G 92 02 844 A suitable carrier system is described in German utility model G 85 24 319.
- Such noise barriers must withstand a limited fire load, e.g. grass fire at the installation site.
- This property can be easily achieved by incorporating the usual flame-retardant additives based on phosphorus or halogen compounds into the acrylic glass during manufacture. These additives are largely harmful to health and therefore require special protective measures in the manufacture and processing of acrylic glass.
- DE-U-9 216 548 discloses a flame-retardant noise protection wall made of acrylic glass, consisting of supports and attached acrylic glass panes, the acrylic glass being free of halogen- or phosphorus-containing flame-retardant additives.
- the noise barrier meets the additional technical regulation for noise barriers ZTV-Lsw 88 of the Federal Minister of Transport and withstands a limited fire load. In practice, however, it turns out that the acrylic glass panes used can easily become dirty or that the transparency can decrease over time due to rubbing or scratching stress.
- the invention has for its object to provide acrylic glass panels for noise barriers without halogen and phosphorus additives flame retardant.
- the additional technical regulation for noise barriers ZTV-Lsw 88 of the Federal Minister of Transport is to be met.
- this object can be achieved on a noise protection wall made of acrylic glass, consisting of supports and attached acrylic glass panes, in that the acrylic glass is free of halogen- and phosphorus-containing flame-retardant additives and on the surfaces of the panes a layer of up to temperatures of 250 degrees C contains non-decomposable and non-melting material.
- the material is considered non-decomposable if it shows a weight loss of less than 1% during thermogravimetric analysis under nitrogen at a temperature increase of 20 degrees C / min up to a temperature of 250 degrees C.
- a test arrangement is used in which a wall element, which is enclosed in a U-profile frame made of metal, is placed vertically on a 25 cm high non-flammable base. Immediately in front of the front, two wire baskets of 30 x 30 x 20 cm, each filled with 600 g wood wool, are placed on the floor in the third points of the element and simultaneously lit. After an hour, the same treatment is repeated on the back of the element.
- the tested wall element may be around the Fire test, do not catch fire and do not burn in places. There should be no burn holes of more than 6 cm 2 in area and no cracks of more than 5 cm in length.
- Wall elements according to the invention (manufactured according to Example 1) with the dimensions 2000 x 1000 x 15 mm meet the fire test described.
- wall elements of the same dimensions made of uncoated cast acrylic glass, consisting of pure polymethyl methacrylate only meet these test conditions to 50%. The other elements caught fire and had to be extinguished after the end of the experiment.
- Acrylic glass refers to homopolymers and copolymers of at least 80% by weight of polymethyl methacrylate and optionally up to 20% by weight of comonomers, such as lower alkyl acrylates and methacrylates. Cast and extruded acrylic glass are suitable.
- the acrylic glass panes In order to achieve a sufficient noise protection effect, the acrylic glass panes must have a considerable thickness. The sound-absorbing effect is too low for thicknesses below 10 mm. At thicknesses over 30 mm, the increase in effectiveness is not economically feasible in relation to the increasing material consumption.
- the disks are preferably 12 to 25 mm thick. The production of correspondingly thick slices by extrusion is difficult. A suitable extrusion die is described in German utility model G 90 015187.
- panes with clearly visible longitudinal or horizontal stripes at intervals of a few centimeters or opaque colored panes are sometimes preferred.
- the acrylic glass panes usually have dimensions of 2 to 4 m in length and 1 to 2 m in width. They are usually fastened to vertical supports or posts that are anchored in the ground. The edges are preferably edged with U-profiles made of metal.
- the layer arranged on the surface of the acrylic glass can have a thickness of 0.1 to 100, preferably 0.3 to 15 micrometers.
- Silicon dioxide fulfills the requirements with regard to melting and decomposition temperatures.
- a layer of colloidal silicon dioxide particles can be produced in a manner known per se in accordance with EP 149 182 by applying an aqueous silicon dioxide colloid sol.
- the primer layer need not meet the requirements of the outermost layer according to the invention.
- Suitable are e.g. Copolymers of lower alkyl esters of acrylic and / or methacrylic acid, which as polar groups e.g. Units of hydroxyalkyl acrylate or methacrylate, N-methylol acrylamide or methacrylamide or their alkyl ether or methacryloxypropyl trimethoxysilane may contain.
- the layer of colloidal silicon dioxide particles also has a water-spreading effect. This has the advantage that rainwater drops on the surface of the acrylic glass panes form a closed film and flow off on the upright plate. Loosely adhering dust and dirt particles are entrained, so that the noise barrier cleans itself over a long period of time.
- Another type of surface layer consists of a cross-linked organic polymer material that is not decomposable up to 250 ° C.
- the crosslinking must be so high that the polymer material does not melt up to a temperature of 250 ° C. As a result of the crosslinking, it is insoluble in organic solvents.
- Polymers or copolymers of ethylenically unsaturated, free-radically polymerizable monomers are preferred, the construction of which involves at least 10% by weight, preferably 30 to 80% by weight, of monomers with two or more unsaturated polymerizable groups.
- Examples are diesters, triesters or higher-functional esters of acrylic and / or methacrylic acid with dihydric or polyhydric alkanols, such as ethylene glycol, 1,2-propylene glycol, 1,4-butanediol, glycerol, trimethylolpropane and pentaerythritol.
- the lower alkyl esters of acrylic and / or methacrylic acid are particularly suitable as monounsaturated comonomers.
- the polymers and copolymers built up from these monomers generally meet the prerequisite for a decomposition temperature not below 250 ° C.
- the layers built up from this have a high mechanical strength and at the same time protect the surface of the acrylic glass against a reduction in transparency due to the action of scratching or rubbing stresses.
- Coatings of this type are produced from a layer of the underlying liquid monomers applied to the surface of the acrylic glass by radical polymerization. Suitable polymerization processes are known from the scratch-resistant coating technology. The polymerization is effected, for example, by free-radical-forming photoinitiators under UV radiation. A method of this type is described, for example, in DE-A 2928512.
- a 2.5 percent solution of a copolymer made from 88% by weight of methyl methacrylate and 12% by weight of methacryloyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane in a mixture of isopropyl alcohol and toluene was prepared as the primer.
- the primer was applied to several acrylic glass plates measuring 1000 x 1600 x 15 mm (PLEXIGLAS® GS 233, Röhm GmbH). For this, a textile strip, which was wound on a straight rod, was soaked with the solution and drawn across the width of the acrylic glass plates. The remaining liquid film was dried.
- a 3%, weakly anionic silica sol which had been surface-modified with aluminum oxide was then applied in the same way with the addition of 0.01% by weight of a nonionic surfactant (isotridecyl alcohol, eight-fold ethoxylated) and dried in a hot air stream at 80 ° C. for 5 minutes. Both layers were approximately 300 nm thick.
- a nonionic surfactant isotridecyl alcohol, eight-fold ethoxylated
- a coating solution was prepared from 3900 g of pentaerythritol tetraacrylate (Sartomer®), 5900 g of 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate and 200 g of a photoinitiator (Darocur® 1116, Ciba-Geigy AG).
- the solution was applied to several acrylic glass plates (as in Example 1) using a roller application machine and cured with a UV lamp with a power of 120 W / cm (high-pressure mercury lamp) under nitrogen.
- the layer thickness was 10 - 12 micrometers.
- Thermogravimetric analysis of the coating material showed a decomposition of 1% at about 310 ° C under the conditions described above.
