Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for producing Decorative labels as well as those obtainable by this process Decorative labels themselves.
  • a common process for making Decorative labels consist of having an embossing foil applying pressure and / or heat to a substrate shapes.
  • This is generally a first heat transferable stamping foil, which has a carrier layer, a Separating layer, one or more decorative layers and one Hot melt adhesive layer contains, on a substrate, the one Release paper, an adhesive layer and a plastic film comprises, applied such that the hot melt adhesive layer the stamping foil and the plastic film of the substrate opposite.
  • stamping foil and substrate with a heated stamp whose stamp area bears a certain motif and raised edges towards the inside of the stamp surface has and on the carrier layer of the stamping film acts, embossed, so that in the area of the stamp surface Stamping foil and substrate with each other over the Hot melt adhesive layer can be connected.
  • the edges of the Stamp surface act like a punch line at the same time, with the embossing process in the area of the edges Separating layer, decorative layer (s) and hot melt adhesive layer the stamping foil, as well as plastic film and adhesive layer of the Melt substrate and punched.
  • the carrier layer of the stamping foil is then removed, including the parts of the stamping foil from the Substrate that are not connected to this are.
  • a method of the above kind is e.g. in USP 4,581,088 described.
  • the plastic film used in the substrate consists of usually made of colored polyvinyl chloride (PVC), whereby between the adhesive layer of the substrate and the PVC film an aluminum foil can be provided.
  • PVC polyvinyl chloride
  • a plastic film made of polyvinyl chloride is however out Environmental protection and due to health hazard due to in the polyvinyl chloride any plasticizers or residual monomers present Vinyl chloride is no longer desirable, so an urgent There is a need to use the PVC film in the jewelry labels, which are often handled especially by children replace.
  • so far no plastic material besides PVC has become because of its Heat resistance and its melting behavior for a hot stamping process of the type mentioned above would.
  • the object of the present invention is a Process for the production of decorative labels create that the use of a polyvinyl chloride film avoids. Another job is To provide decorative labels without PVC.
  • the process is a plastic film in the substrate suitable low density polyethylene (LDPE) is used.

  • the plastic film of the substrate is turned on or with an adhesion promoter layer (primer) on both sides Mistake.
  • the thickness of this adhesive layer is preferably 2 to 10 ⁇ m.
  • the surface the plastic film of the substrate by a corona or Plasma discharge to be pretreated.
  • stamping foil is used as a carrier layer for reasons of Heat resistance advantageously a polyester film used, preferably a thickness of 4 to 10 microns owns.
  • a wax layer can be used as a separating layer in the stamping foil be used, which melts when exposed to heat and easy separation of the carrier layer Stamping foil enables.
  • the individual layers of paint preferably have a Thickness from 0.5 to 5 microns, while the Metal layers by evaporation or by Sputtering are applied, preferably one Have a thickness in the range of 50 nm.
  • the single ones Layers can continue with a two or three layers three-dimensional pattern.
