Definitions

  • the invention relates to a shielded connector having a metal shield housing, to which at least one shielded cable is connected on the connection side and a plug or socket insert having a metal collar is provided on the connector side.
  • a connector is known from DE-U-87 13 046.
  • the connector as a link between closed electronic systems and the periphery is subject to increasingly high demands with regard to electromagnetic compatibility.
  • the development of electronic systems is characterized by an ever increasing processing speed, ie by higher clock frequencies in digital computing and control systems. This increases the sensitivity to high-frequency interference. These interferences can lead to malfunctions that have a direct impact on the quality of these systems.
  • interference also comes from electronic systems or devices themselves, which work with steep-edged, high-frequency signals in the control and power sections.
  • the connector is of crucial importance as an interface element between a closed electronic system and the environment.
  • the connector known from DE-U-87 13 046 is provided for such purposes.
  • the metal connector body is arranged with its collar on the outside of the connector on the connector-side end of the lower housing part.
  • the connecting cable is mechanically connected to the lower housing part by means of a clamp and electrically to a shield plate arranged in the lower housing part.
  • the housing is composed of two half-shells, between which there may be small gaps which significantly influence the shielding effect.
  • Various shielding materials are used for such housings, such as solid cast aluminum half-shells, metal sheets inserted in plastic half-shells or metallized plastic half-shells. These half shells are each electrically connected to the braided shield of the cable and to the metal collar of the built-in connector.
  • the metal collar of the built-in connector is usually fixed above on the front of the housing.
  • the flow path of the interference signals to be derived to ground being as follows: cable shield braid - housing wall - metal collar of the plug - metal collar of the mating plug - device wall (ground).
  • Surface currents can be conducted into the interior of devices and / or interference can originate from the device itself.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a connector of the type mentioned, the increased shielding requirements of e.g. > 80 dB fulfilled.
  • the metal housing of the connector is made in one piece and with one shell.
  • the contact between the cable shield and the housing of the connector is made by a direct face contact, ie the cable shield is not only partially or via intermediate transitions as with screwed clamps, but all around and without intermediate transitions in direct contact with the shield housing.
  • an end-side contact from the housing of the connector to a device wall is provided, so that an unimpeded flow of surface currents is ensured.
  • the support point for the metal collar of the plug or socket insert is set back so far that the plug or socket insert is largely inside the shield housing.
  • the plug or socket insert is arranged largely mechanically and electrically protected within the shield housing.
  • the inside width of the shield housing at the plug-side end is selected such that, in the case of a connector fastened to a device wall, the plug or socket insert, its mating connector on the device wall and the passage opening of the device wall laterally from the plug-side housing edge are surrounded. This encapsulates the plug or socket insert and mating connector as well as the recess in the device wall in an electrically shielded manner.
  • a contact plate is arranged between the plug-side end face of the shield housing and the device wall.
  • a contact plate can e.g. consist of a feathered spring plate.
  • the cable is expediently connected by means of a union nut which can be screwed into the connection area of the shield housing.
  • a union nut which can be screwed into the connection area of the shield housing.
  • an end-face contact can be made produce the cable shield on the transverse wall of the shield housing in a simple manner by sliding a sleeve over the exposed cable shield, over which the cable shield is turned over on one side by 180 ° and on which the union nut engages on the other side.
  • the connector can only be inserted freely when connecting to the mating connector and without being influenced by the fastening process and then after the plug connection has been made, by means of the fasteners are locked.
  • the connector has a metal shield housing 1 made of a one-piece and one-shell die-cast part, in particular made of aluminum.
  • the shield housing 1 is funnel-shaped with a further plug-side area 2 and, on the other hand, a narrower connection area 3 formed by a gradation. In this connection area at least one shielded cable 4 is connected in a manner described in more detail later.
  • a plug or socket insert 6 having a metal collar 5 is provided, which is connected to the cable 4.
  • the support point 17 on the shield housing 1 for the metal collar 5 of the plug or socket insert 6 is so far inward compared to the plug end 7 of the shield housing that the plug or socket insert 6 is largely within the shield housing. For this reason, an end-side contacting of the shield housing on a device wall 8 can then take place exclusively via the plug-side end face 7 of the shield housing.
  • the support point 17 on the shield housing for the metal collar 5 of the plug or socket insert 6 is expediently formed by two mutually opposite steps on the inner walls of the shield housing.
  • Two screws 9 are provided as fastening elements for the detachable fastening of the shield housing 1 to the device wall 8 and can be displaced in the plugging direction, but are captively arranged on the shield housing.
  • the screws 9 are formed in the longitudinal direction with four different zones. These zones are, for example, a slotted screw head 10 for screwing on, a cylindrical neck zone 11, an external thread 12 whose diameter is larger than that of the neck zone, and also a small external thread 13 for screwing into threaded sleeves 14 on the device wall 8, the external thread 13 being provided with recesses 15 of the metal collar 5 of the plug or socket insert 6 fits.
  • the accommodation of the screws 9 in the shield housing is provided here so that a sufficiently large space for the passage of the screws 9 is provided on the side of the plug or socket insert 6, that is between the latter and the inside of the shield housing 1.
  • the plug or socket insert 6 is fixed laterally in the plug-in direction by two diagonally opposite screws 16, which are screwed radially between the support point 17 and the plug-side end face 7 of the shield housing into its wall and a floating, self-searching mounting of the plug or socket insert enable the mating connector 18 arranged on the device wall 8.
  • the plug or socket insert 6 and mating plug 18 are plugged together and electrically connected.
  • the plug-side end face 7 of the shield housing 1 makes contact on the end face on the device wall 8, the inside width of the shield housing 1 at the plug end being selected such that the plug or socket insert 6, its mating connector 18 on the device wall 8 and the passage opening 19 of the device wall laterally are surrounded by the edge of the housing. In this way, the connector is completely encapsulated for electromagnetic fields.
  • an additional contact plate 20 can be arranged between the plug-side end face 7 of the shield housing 1 and the device wall 8, which, for example, has corresponding cutouts is provided for carrying fasteners.
  • the cable 4 is now connected in the following way: After the plug or socket insert 6 - as in FIG. 1 - is mounted in the shield housing, the cable 4 is pushed back in a bushing 21 in a transverse wall 22 which is in the connection area 3 of the shield housing 1 provided transversely to the direction of insertion and is set back inwards relative to the connection-side end face 23 such that a connection bore 24 is formed.
  • a direct end contact is made between the cable shield 25 and the transverse wall 22 of the shield housing 1 with the aid of a union nut 27 which is pushed over the cable sheath 6 and consists of conductive material, for which purpose a sleeve 28, the inside diameter of which is approximately the outside diameter of the cable 4, is exposed via the exposed cable shield 25 corresponds to the cable sheath 26, is pushed, and over which the cable shield 25 is turned over on one side by 180 ° and on which the union nut 27 engages on the other side.
  • the union nut By tightening the union nut, the e.g. consisting of a wire mesh cable shield 25 pressed on the end face of the transverse wall 22 and thus electrically contacted.
  • the union nut 27 is then formed on the threaded region 29 with a neck 30 resting on the cable jacket 26, which is provided with a window-shaped opening 31, into which a cable tie 32 is inserted to relieve the strain on the cable 4 and is fixed on the cable jacket 26 (FIG. 3) .
  • an additional hose 33 is pushed out of a braided shield over the neck 30a of the union nut 27a and is fixedly connected and contacted with the neck 30a by means of a clamping ring 34.
  • This variant can be used to further improve the shielding effect.
  • the inside of the shield housing 1 is designed so that filtered connectors can also be installed. Thus, possibly induced in the cable Interference signals are also diverted to ground via the filter connector.
  • both the plug or socket insert 6 and the mating connector 18 are provided with a retrofittable coding element 35 or 35a (FIG. 5) in the form of a coding comb, with a coding hole of a coding element created by a broken-out coding tooth being opposite to a coding tooth of the mating element comes to allow a correct pairing.
