Description

The present invention relates to an automatic packaging press, with continuous feeding of the material to be treated and automatic strapping of the pressed bales.

It is known that, in order to press in the form of bales many types of materials such as textiles, solid waste and the like, fed continuously, and to increase the production of bales at the output, presses equipped with two vertical boxes, interconnected, liftable and rotating about a central axis of a supporting structure so as to assume two positions, one for loading and the other for pressing; successively, the filled box is pushed upwards and the strapping is carried out using several channels provided in the plates, see for example GB-A-1 384 080.

In these known presses, the pressing plate has the dimensions which correspond to that of the internal boxes and it is positioned above the box which is in said second position, while the two boxes are closed from below by a plate. secured to the boxes.
During rotation, the boxes are unlocked while during pressing, they remain stationary on the supporting structure which supports the pressing force.
Most of these presses are also equipped automatic strapping devices which make it possible to pass, tension and bind the straps, but the strapping devices known today, due to the high precision and reliability necessary for strapping, have a very high cost and a relatively strapping cycle long, also given the large number of straps to be applied (from 6 to 12 and more) due to the fact that sometimes it is necessary to strap the bales both longitudinally and transversely.

In addition, in packaging presses known to date, the presence of two individually sliding boxes which can be lifted jointly results in a complex and costly construction, especially if they include several strapping heads to better distribute the times of the different operations to be carried out on the press, that is to say from the loading of the material to be packaged to the final strapping of the pressed bale.

The object of the present invention is to eliminate the aforementioned drawbacks and to propose an automatic packaging press with boxes with vertical axis, rotating with carousel, of high production, of reduced cost, for bales even of large dimensions and, by Therefore, operating with high pressures.

This result was achieved, in accordance with the invention, by producing a press comprising:
a structure supporting at least two identical vertical boxes, open at the upper and lower ends, integral with each other, angularly equidistant and rotating with carousel around a vertical axis with intermittent movement between a loading position and a pressing position; a hopper for feeding the material to be pressed, situated above the box which is in the loading position; a horizontal plane, fixed to the supporting structure, in the touching position of the base of said boxes and with an opening corresponding to the pressing zone; a prismatic box extending horizontally, of rectangular section, open at one end, which is fixed to the supporting structure and is provided with a material inlet opening in correspondence of the pressing chamber; a head movable in said box in the longitudinal direction and a shutter movable transversely with respect to the box to delimit a chamber for pressing the material and pushing the pressed bale forward; a pressing cylinder with a compression head with alternating vertical stroke, aligned with the body which is in the pressing position; means for the automatic strapping of bales at the outlet of the box.

The advantages obtained thanks to the present invention essentially consist in obtaining a high reliability thanks to the absence of movements such as the sliding of the boxes, the lifting and rotating the trays; high working speed even for large bales and even very high pressures; a reduced strapping time although using a single head arranged in correspondence of the outlet mouth; the possibility of using the press for bulk materials of very small dimensions, such as fibers, rice straw, paper, dust or materials containing liquids, such as garbage waste; great cleanliness around the press, even in the case of polluting material, thanks to the possibility of discharging liquids and the like; the possibility of weighing the material before loading with a belt conveyor mounted on a scale; the possibility of automatic transport of bales at the outlet, with possible weighing, labeling, packaging with heat-shrink film; completely automatic management of the entire work cycle using a simple programmable logic computer.

  • a pressing cylinder (10) mounted vertically in position above the box (12) which is located in the pressing station and the head (11) of which is intended to be introduced precisely into said box (12) with a sufficient downward stroke to compress the material contained in the box in the chamber (2) of the box (7) located below.

As an alternative and with reference to FIG. 3 of the accompanying drawings, provision is made, in accordance with the invention, for positioning said pressing cylinder (10) vertically in position below the box (7); in this case, the body with the shutter (16) is arranged vertically above or on the side of the box (7) and the latter has the openings (20) and (22) respectively in the lower and upper part.

According to the invention, it is provided that said plane (6) is provided with a planking (60) of sufficient height to allow the collection and retention of material residues if they are small or possibly liquid leaving the cases.

In addition, it is advantageously provided that the outlet outlet of the box (7) is provided with two converging appendages (18) to impart pressure on the ball (19) at the outlet sufficient to maintain it in position during the transverse strapping at by means of several strips (23), the pitch of which is determined by an equal advance of the head (15) repeated intermittently.

According to the invention, it is advantageously provided to manage the entire operating cycle by means of a programmable logic computer.

The operation is as follows. While one of the boxes (12) is in the filling position under the hopper (5), the other box already filled with material is in the unloading position in the box (7) located below, through the coincident openings (21, 20).
At this time, the shutter (16) is in the front end-of-travel position in the box (7) and the head (15) is in the rear end-of-travel position so as to delimit with the side and bottom walls of the box. (7) the filling and pressing chamber (22) and which defines the dimensions of the bales (19) to be obtained at the outlet.

The head (11) of the pressing cylinder (10) then lowers by entering the box (12) located below and pushing the material it contains in the chamber (22) of the box (7) and pressing her into this room definitively. At the end of compaction, the shutter (16) retracts, releasing the compacted material towards the outlet of the box (7), after which the head (15) of the cylinder (14) advances to push the compacted material and bring it to protrude from the mouth of the box (7) of what is necessary to apply by means of an automatic strapping device (8) a first strapping strip (23); at this stage, the head (11) is raised to allow the successive rotation of the boxes (12). Depending on the number of strips (23) to be applied, the ball is pushed forward by the cylinder (14) several times, intermittently, with advances of constant pitch.
After completing the strapping operation, the ball (19) thus strapped is evacuated from the box (7) and the head (15) of the cylinder (14) is controlled to move back to the initial position. At this point, the shutter (16) is moved completely forward and, meanwhile, the boxes (12), by turning a half-turn, are arranged with the empty one under the hopper (5) and with that full placed above the opening (20).
In the case where the bales (19) have to be bagged, it is sufficient to thread the bag fully onto the terminal part of the box (7), letting the latter completely wrap the bale as and as it is pushed to its expulsion, with or without the application of strapping.
