Definitions
- the present invention relates to a timepiece comprising a rotating bezel, on which are recorded, for example, time indications.
- a timepiece forming a wristwatch comprising a box, as well as a crystal fixedly mounted on this box, and a rotating bezel of the aforementioned type, guided in rotation relative to the crystal and to the box.
- Wristwatches fitted with such a bezel are generally intended to be used for scuba diving and allow the indication of an elapsed or remaining time to elapse.
- the telescope cooperates with latching means which are mounted on the glass and / or on the case and which allow a unidirectional rotary movement of the telescope, as well as the indexing thereof in predetermined angular positions. compared to the means for displaying the time of the watch (EP-A-0 216 420).
- the present invention therefore aims to overcome this drawback by providing a timepiece comprising a rotating bezel which can be used in any type of environment, without the presence of solid impurities interfering with the operation of this bezel.
- the subject of the present invention is a timepiece comprising a box, a crystal fixedly mounted on the box and a rotating bezel guided in rotation relative to the crystal and to said box, this bezel being further associated with a latching mechanism, characterized in that said bezel includes means for sealing against solid impurities, these means being intended to isolate at least the latching mechanism from the outside and to prevent solid impurities from becoming lodged at least between said bezel and the crystal and in that it further comprises means allowing these impurities to be removed outside the timepiece.
- this invention relates to a timepiece in which the crystal comprises a lower part secured to the box and an upper part, called the display, visible from outside the part, characterized in that the sealing means comprise an annular groove formed between the upper part of the crystal and a corresponding upper part of the bezel, this groove being open and flared towards the outside of the timepiece according to the invention.
- the groove has, in cross section, an essentially frustoconical shape.
- a timepiece according to the invention will be described below, represented by the general reference 1.
- the timepiece 1 comprises a case 2 made in this example of a plastic material in a conventional manner.
- the box 2 is shown more precisely in top view in FIG. 2.
- the case 2 comprises a middle part 4 on which are fixed fixing horns 6 intended to allow the connection of the timepiece according to the invention with a bracelet, not shown.
- the glass 10 is fixedly mounted on the box 2 by conventional means not shown, such as welding or bonding.
- the mounting, fixing and positioning of the lens 10 on the box 2 being carried out in a conventional manner and not forming part of the characteristics of the invention, are not explained here in detail.
- the crystal 10 therefore has an upper part 12, called the display part, which is visible from the outside of the timepiece 1, as can be seen in FIG. 1, and whose essential function is to allow a user to perceive through the glass 10 display means, not shown.
- the glass 10 also comprises a lower part 14 which is integral with the box 2, as specified above.
- the timepiece 1 further comprises a rotating bezel 16 guided in rotation relative to the crystal 10 and relative to the case 2 by means of rotation guide represented by the general reference 18.
- the guide means 18 are of conventional design and are constituted here by a groove 20 ( Figure 3) formed directly in the rotating bezel 16 and by a collar 22 formed, meanwhile, directly in the lower part 14 of the glass 10.
- the mounting of the rotating bezel 16 on the glass 10 is made from the upper part 12 by elastic snap-fastening of the bezel 16 onto the collar 22 which is housed in the groove 20 having in section a shape corresponding to this collar.
- the rotating bezel 16 is therefore held axially by means of these guide means 20, 22 on the glass assembly 10-Box 2 and is also guided in rotation about the central axis X (FIG. 2) of the part 1 according to the invention.
- the telescope 16 is made of a plastic material, such as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), so that this telescope has sufficient elasticity allowing it to be snapped onto the glass 10.
- ABS acrylonitrile butadiene styrene
- the timepiece 1 further comprises a latching mechanism M, shown here very schematically.
- This mechanism which is of a conventional design and which is not part of the invention is not described here in more detail.
- the rotating bezel 16 can be moved in rotation relative to the glass 10 and relative to the box 2, in a unidirectional rotary movement around the central axis X of the part 1.
- the rotating bezel 16 further comprises means for sealing against solid impurities, and means for ejecting these impurities to drive them out of the room, means that the 'will be described in more detail below.
- the ejection means firstly comprise an annular groove 24 formed between the upper part 12 of the crystal 10 and a corresponding upper part 26 of the telescope 16. It will be noted that inside this upper part 26 is formed a orifice, called upper orifice 28 (FIG. 3), defining a wall of the groove 24 and into which the upper part 12 of the glass 10 engages.
- upper orifice 28 FIG. 3
- the bezel 16 further comprises a lower part 30 in which a lower orifice 32 is defined (FIG. 3) in which the collar 22 formed on the glass 10 is housed.
- the annular groove 24 is more particularly constituted by a chamfer 34 formed directly on the upper part 26 of the bezel 16, this chamfer also giving the orifice 28 which it defines, a frustoconical shape open upwards (in the position Figures 1 and 3).
- the annular groove 24 is open and flared towards the outside of the timepiece 1.
- the groove 24 therefore also has in cross section, as can be seen in FIG. 1, an essentially frustoconical shape.
- this annular groove 24 opens towards the outside of the part 1 at an angle A at least greater than 5 °, formed between the outer peripheral wall 12a of the upper part 12 of the glass 10 and the chamfer 34 of the bezel 16.
- the angle A has a value between 20 and 30 °.
- the annular groove 24 is terminated downwards by sealing means formed by a sealing lip 36 which is in contact with the glass 10 and which makes it possible to isolate the latching mechanism M from the outside of the part. according to the invention.
- the lip 36 rests on a frustoconical middle part 13 of the glass 10, part median which is formed by a wall 13a contiguous to the wall 12a of the upper part 12.
- sealing lip 36 is maintained in pressure contact on the corresponding wall 13a of the glass 10 because this sealing lip 36 forms the counter-support of the bezel 16 on the glass 10, the bezel which is put under elastic tension on the glass 10 when it is snapped on by the guide means 18. It will be noted for this purpose that the wall 13a is much more flared than the wall 12a and therefore has an angle greater than this wall relative to the vertical 12a.
- the timepiece 1 further comprises a second lip 40 formed this time between the lower part 30 of the bezel 16 and the case 2, and also forming part of the sealing means. More particularly, the sealing lip 40 is formed directly on the box 2 and comes in one piece with it, and it is constituted by a bead (same reference) having in section a semi-circular shape extending, as we seen in Figure 2 around the entire circumference of the middle part 4, coaxially with the axis X.
- the lower part 30 of the bezel 16 therefore rests axially in abutment on the sealing lip 40 which also prevents the passage of solid impurities from the outside towards the glass 10 and isolates the means for guiding the bezel 16 from the 'outside.
- the sealing lip 40 is formed, relative to an edge 42 forming the upper outer edge of the middle part 4, at a distance D whose value (referenced D1) at time axis level 3h-9h is greater than the distance (referenced D2) at the time axis level 6h-12h.
- the second lip 40 is formed on the box 2 at a distance from the edge 42 of this box which decreases in at least one direction around the central axis X of the part 1.
- the lateral space between the second lip 40 and the edge 42 of the box 2 forms a surface (and means) for ejecting solid impurities.
- This surface 44 has in plan ( Figure 2) a shape in two crescents end to end, shape which allows to remove any solid impurity which would slip between the lower part 30 of the rotating bezel 16 and the box 2, because during rotation given to the bezel 16 the impurities arrive towards a region which decreases to be almost zero at the level of the axis 6h-12h, and these impurities fall on the side of the middle part 4.
- FIG. 4 shows another embodiment of a telescope 16a fitted to the part according to the invention.
- the bezel 16a differs from the bezel 16 in that it comprises several sealing lips 36a (only one being referenced) having a helical shape.
