Definitions

  • the invention relates to a backwashable filter element for installation in a pressure vessel, consisting of a filter fabric, which surrounds a support body made of perforated tubes and a central tube for removing the filtrate, and a head part.
  • a filter element of the type is known from CH-A-655859.
  • the known filter element which is suitable for residual volume filtration, consists of a central tube which is closed over its entire length. A filtrate is discharged through the central tube and, after the filtration has ended, a backwashing medium is fed in against the direction of filtration for cleaning the filter media.
  • a backwashing medium is fed in against the direction of filtration for cleaning the filter media.
  • the central tube is surrounded by perforated tubes.
  • the filtrate can only be removed via the lower opening of the central tube. This has the disadvantage that the capacity of the filter is severely limited by the limited lumen of the central tube, and the speed and efficiency of the backwashing are also very limited.
  • the object of the invention is to increase the performance of a filter element of the type and at the same time to enable drying and dry discharge of a filter cake.
  • the central tube is expediently connected to the openings of the tubes serving as support tubes by means of one or more bores or channels. This has the advantage that the filtration performance can be increased considerably. and a large backwashing performance is available.
  • the valve can be a diaphragm valve or a ball valve.
  • the pressure control in combination with a diaphragm valve is particularly useful.
  • the filter element consists of a filtration part 1 and a head part 2.
  • the filtration part 1 has a central tube 3, around which perforated tubes 4, 4 'are arranged as support elements, which are surrounded by a fabric 5 as filter medium, which is attached in a known manner.
  • the head part 2 consists of a plate 6, which is provided with a bore 7 and a bore 8 and a seat 9. The bores 7 and 8 can be closed by an inflatable membrane 10 in the seat 9.
  • the membrane 10 is formed as part of a membrane valve.
  • the upper part of the head 2 forms a flange 11 which serves to fasten the entire filter element.
  • the filter element is closed by a base plate 12 with a central opening.
  • FIG. 2 A variant of the head part 2 is provided in FIG. 2.
  • a plate 6 ' is provided with a lower bore 7' and an upper bore 8 'and with a seat 9'.
  • a ball 13 is provided in the seat 9 'for closing the seat 9' and functions as part of a ball valve.
  • Fig. 3 the left part of the head 2 of Fig. 1 is shown.
  • the valve is designed as a double diaphragm valve with a support element 14.
  • FIG. 4 is a variant according to FIG. 1, but with only one support element.
  • the filter element according to the invention When the filter element is in operation, during the filtration phase, the filter element according to the invention is provided in a pressure vessel, being completely immersed in a slurry. Due to the pressure difference inside and outside the filter element, the filtrate flows through the filter medium 5, on which a filter cake made of solids is deposited. The filtrate is now able to pass down through the pipes 4, 4 'into the central pipe 3 to drain or to escape via the pressure-controlled valve in the head part 2. The direction of filtration is indicated by arrows.
  • a backwashing agent which can be a gas or a liquid, is fed to the filter element over the entire cross section of the head 2 against the direction of filtration.
  • the backwashing agent penetrates down through the central tube 3 and through the filter means 5 from inside to outside via the tubes 4, 4 '. If necessary, the amount of the backwashing agent can be drastically increased by opening the valve in the head part 2. In this case, it is possible to act directly on the pipes 4, 4 and thus supply the fabrics with any desired amount of backwashing agent.
  • the advantage of the filter candle according to the invention is that an individual filter element can be controlled through all channels, through the central tube and the support tubes and can be operated with greater flow rate and lower resistance.
  • a filter cake is only dried over the central tube by blowing back, for example by means of a drying gas, whereby the filter candle can also be completely emptied.
  • central pipes and support pipes can be blown back with a high flow rate and less resistance.
  • the control of the channels can be controlled in a known manner by check valves taking into account the pressure and flow conditions prevailing in the filter container.
