Da sich die Federelemente jeweils über die ganze Ausdehnung der Matratze erstrecken, ist jedoch eine flexible Anpassung der Federcharakteristik an lokal zu erwartende Belastungen nicht möglich. Erfindungsgemäss besteht jedes Federelement 1 aus mehreren übereinandergestapelten und fest miteinander verbundenen Rohrabschnitten 2 aus elastischem Material, vorzugsweise einem Elastomer und weist an seinem oberen und an seinem unteren Ende je eine Auflagefläche 3 auf zur Abstützung der jeweiligen Auflage. Einzelne Rohrabschnitte 2 weisen beidseitig Verbindungselemente 4 zur Herstellung von Schnappverbindungen mit benachbarten Federelementen auf. Die Federelemente 1 können je nach der gewünschten Federcharakteristik verschieden ausgebildet sein (Fig. 2). Z. B. können einzelne Rohrabschnitte zur Versteifung horizontale Verstrebungen 5 enthalten, die bei Halbierung der äusseren Rohrabschnitte auch als Auflageflächen 3 dienen können. Federelemente 1 verschiedener Charakteristik können nach Massgabe der zu erwartenden örtlichen Belastung in der Obermatratze verteilt werden. Auch durch das Herstellen oder Nichtherstellen von Schnappverbindungen zwischen benachbarten Federelementen 1 können lokale Steifigkeit und Federeigenschaften der Obermatratze beeinflusst werden.According to the invention, each

- Upper mattress for a mattress system comprising an upper mattress and a lower mattress, which upper mattress comprises resilient elements (1) between an upper cover layer and a lower cover layer, characterised in that each resilient element (1) substantially comprises a horizontal cylindrical tubular section (2) made of elastic material, or comprises a plurality of tubular sections (2) of this kind stacked one above another and fixedly connected to one another, and in that the resilient elements (1) are arranged in the upper mattress distributed side-by-side over the area of the upper mattress.
- Upper mattress according to claim 1, characterised in that the upper end and the lower end of each resilient element has a respective supporting surface (3).
- Upper mattress according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that, when a plurality of said resilient elements (1) is provided, a connector element (4) is arranged on both sides of at least one of the tubular sections (2) to form a connection to a neighbouring resilient element (1).
- Upper mattress according to claim 3, characterised in that the connector elements (4) are suitable for forming snap connections.
- Upper mattress according to one of the claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the resilient elements (1) substantially comprise man-made materials.
