- the latch 10 is roughly diametrically opposite the projection 8. As can be seen in FIGS. 4 to 7, this latch has on its radially outer face a double convex cam ramp, consisting of an upper ramp 11 which forms a relatively large angle a with the vertical, and a lower ramp 12 which forms with the vertical a relatively small angle b .
- Frame 2 (Fig. 4 to 6) is also a molded piece of ductile iron. It consists of a sole 13 on which rises a cylindrical skirt 14 carrying at mid-height an inner annular flange 15. The latter has a constant section over its entire periphery, except in one location, of the same circumferential length as the latch 10, where this radial dimension is enlarged into a projection 16 forming a stop.
- the inner side of this stop has a double convex cam surface consisting of an upper ramp 17 and lower ramp 18 inclined at the same angle equal to the angle cited above, on the vertical (Fig.7) .
- the frame 2 comprises an upwardly open housing adapted to receive with play the projection 8 of the pad and constituting therewith a hinged device which allows the tilting of the pad, allows the extraction of the projection 8 when the tampon is in the open position, and retains this projection when the tampon is in the closed position.
- Said housing is designated by the reference 19 in FIGS. 16, 17 and 19, and the hinged device can in particular be as described in the abovementioned EP-A 286 562.
- the soundproofing lining 3 (not shown in Figs. 5 to 7 for clarity of the drawing) is therefore circular having almost the entire periphery of the constant section visible in Fig.2. It is an inverted L-shaped section adapted to fit together with an elastic clamping on the current flange part 15 of the frame. At a location on its periphery, over a length equal to that of the stop 16, the lining has a window 20 and, to ensure continuity of the lining, a lower heel 21 which borders the lower side of this window.
- the stop 16 passes through the window 20 and protrudes radially inwards, as seen in FIG. 4.
- the buffer closes and locks under the effect of its own weight by tilting around the hinge 8 - 19: when the latch 10 arrives at the stop 16, the upper ramp 17 of the latter acts on the lower ramp 12 of the latch to push it inward, then, after passing from the top of the double ramp 11, 12, the arm 9 straightens elastically to reach the locked position of Fig.4.
- the reduced angle b ensures the absence of jamming and deterioration of the arm 9 during this closure, which can take place following a rapid movement of the tampon.
- means opposite to the locking device 10 - 16 are provided for taking up horizontal forces.
- These means can be constituted by two stops 22 (Fig. 1) projecting from the web of the pad on either side of the projection 8 and coming to bear on the skirt 14 of the frame from the start of the action exerted on the crowbar to open the tampon.
- the veil 4 of the pad has, near its periphery, opposite the projection 8, a stepped orifice 23 which defines an annular bearing surface 24 of cylindrical shape, the axis of the cylinder being horizontal is oriented tangentially.
- a cylindrical head bolt 25 passes through the orifice 23, an elastomer block 26 and the latch 10A and maintains this stack against the web 4 by means of a nut 27.
- the latch 10A In the buffer closed position (Fig.10), the latch 10A, whose external configuration is the same as that of the latch 10 in Fig.1 to 7, locks the buffer by cooperation with the stop 16 of the frame as before.
- the latch 10A At the start of the opening of the buffer (FIG. 11), the latch 10A is pushed inwards by cam effect by compressing the radially inner part of the block 26, and the latter returns the latch to the initial position when the tops of the two double ramps are passed opposite each other.
- the latch 10B is carried by a slide 28 mounted radially movable against the underside of the veil of the pad, this by means of two bolts 29, 30 which pass through oblong slots 31, 32 of this veil.
- the slider is urged elastically to its outermost position by an elastomer block 33 interposed between the internal end of the slider and an element 34 of the lower rib of the pad, this block 33 being threaded on a radial stud 35 of the slider.
- the opening of the tampon can be carried out by inserting a crowbar in the central opening of the tampon as previously, or alternatively according to the variant illustrated in Figs. 13 to 15: the tampon comprises a lower cup 36 molded or attached , located under the slide 28, and openings 37, 38 roughly superimposed are formed in this slide and in the web.
- the lead bar 39 is introduced through the openings 37 and 38, until it stops against the bottom of the bucket 36, and the mine bar is tilted in the same diametrical plane as before (arrow F5) in bearing on the outer wall 40 of the bucket. This first causes the displacement towards the inside of the slide (Fig. 15) and therefore its disengagement from the stop 16, and the continuation of the tilting movement of the crowbar causes the swiveling of the buffer around the hinge 8 - 19 and its opening.
- the ramps 11 and 18 which cooperate when the pad is closed can be replaced by flat and horizontal surfaces.
- the stop 16C of the locking device is rigidly integral with the buffer, while the latch 10C is mounted on the frame.
