Definitions

  • the invention relates to a lasting jaw for machines for nail production, consisting of an elongated, prism-shaped base body with a trapezoidal cross section, one end of which has an exchangeable prismatic insert made of wear-resistant material, which is provided on at least one side surface with a lasting profile for shaping and separating the nail end.
  • Such jaws are used in pairs in machines in which wire is formed into nails. They are arranged there so that the lasting profiles of the lasting jaws lie opposite one another. In the course of the workflow, the lasting jaws are brought together and opened. When the jaws are brought together, the tip of the nail is first molded on and then the nail is pinched off to the desired nail length. The specially designed pinch profile of the pinch jaws results in a reshaping and a cutting operation.
  • the pinch jaws were previously largely made of steel. However, due to the limited wear resistance of steel, they only have a limited service life. If the wear of the lasting profile is inadmissibly high, the lasting jaws must be replaced.
  • DE-OS 28 20 259 describes a machine for nail production, in which the lasting jaws have an insert made of wear-resistant material at one end.
  • the insert is provided on the front with a lasting profile for forming and separating the nail and clamped in a recess in the lasting jaw with a screw and a wedge-shaped clamping piece.
  • a nail beating jaw for shaping the nail head is known.
  • One end of the base body is slotted and provided with a recess which serves to receive an essentially cylindrical insert made of wear-resistant material with a plurality of clamping grooves in the lateral surface.
  • the insert is clamped in the base body by means of a tensioning screw passing through the slot.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a lasting jaw for machines for nail production with an interchangeable insert made of wear-resistant material, which allows a simpler and more space-saving clamping of the insert on the base body compared to known designs and also a clamping of inserts with a lasting profile on all side surfaces allowed.
  • the insert is arranged in an end-side recess of the base body, with lateral and / or rear contact surfaces and with a support surface inclined at an angle between 10 ° and 30 ° to the base surface of the base body, and via a bore penetrating the insert can be screwed to the base body.
  • the insert made of wear-resistant material can be specifically dimensioned small and can be provided with one or more lasting profiles that can be used one after the other.
  • the price / performance ratio compared to pinch jaws with a soldered hard metal end is much cheaper.
  • the special mounting and attachment of the insert ensures that the production is only briefly interrupted when replacing or moving the insert and that no new readjustment or adjustment work is required.
  • the changeover to other nail profiles is only possible in large areas by changing the insert, without having to replace the base body of the lasting jaws.
  • the basic bodies themselves are practically not subject to wear and can therefore be used over a very long period. Even if the insert is destroyed prematurely due to poor adjustment or improper operation, the base body is generally not damaged.
  • the insert made of wear-resistant material is well supported by the base body, so that the forces occurring when the nail tip is formed and when the nail is pinched off are fully absorbed by the base body without the fastening screw being loaded.
  • the screw can therefore be dimensioned small and is only used for positioning and holding the insert in the recess.
  • An inclination of the support surface for use in relation to the base surface of the base body in the range of approximately 20 ° has proven particularly advantageous for the lasting jaws according to the invention.
  • the insert is screwed to the base body by means of a countersunk screw, the axis of the threaded bore in the base body and the axis of the counterbore in use being offset from one another by a distance in the longitudinal direction of the base body, so that use in Tightening the screw against the support surface and at the same time against the rear (s) contact surface (s) of the recess of the base body is pressed.
  • the insert is only provided with a lasting profile, it has proven useful to design the insert with a cuboid basic shape and to provide the rear surface opposite the end profile incorporated in the front with strongly rounded side edges. This ensures a particularly advantageous production of the insert without the safe contact and support of the insert being adversely affected in the recess in the base body.
  • the insert can be implemented multiple times, a truncated-tetrahedral or truncated-pyramid shape with gusset profiles incorporated into the side surfaces has proven particularly useful. This means that the assignment can be implemented twice or three times after the first use.
  • Hard metal is particularly suitable as a material for use from wear-resistant material, but the use of other wear-resistant materials cannot be ruled out.
  • Figures 1-3 show a lasting jaw according to the invention, made of an elongated, prism-shaped base body -1- made of steel.
  • the side surfaces of the base body -1- are inclined 10 ° or 15 ° to each other, depending on the machine type in which the jaws are used, so that the base body -1-has a trapezoidal cross section.
  • the base body -1- has an oblique flattening with a recess -6- for receiving a cuboid insert -3- made of hard metal, which can be screwed to the base body -1-.
  • the recess -6- has two lateral contact surfaces which run parallel in the longitudinal direction of the base body -1- and which are connected to one another by a rear contact surface.
  • the base-side support surface is inclined at an angle ⁇ of 20 ° to the base of the base body -1-, which ensures good support of the insert -3-by the base body -1-.
  • the recess -6- is somewhat shorter than the length of the insert -3-, so that it protrudes slightly on the end face of the base body -1-.
  • a threaded hole -7- is made in the base body -1- perpendicular to the support surface for screwing the hard metal insert -3-.
  • the lasting profile -4- is introduced on the end face of the hard metal insert -3-.
  • the special design of the lasting profile -4- allows the nail tip to be formed in one operation when the lasting jaws are brought together and at the same time the pinched material and the nail end are pinched off the wire.
  • the hard metal insert -3- is provided with a countersunk hole -5- for connection to the base body -1- by means of a fastening screw -2-.
  • the back surface opposite the lasting profile -4- has strongly rounded side edges.
  • the axis of the threaded bore -7- in the base body -1- and the axis of the countersunk bore -5- in the hard metal insert -3- are offset in the longitudinal direction of the base body -1- by a distance -d- so that when the fastening screw is tightened -2- there is a surface pressure between the bottom surface of the hard metal insert -3- and the contact surface in the recess -6- and at the same time the insert -3- is pressed against the rear contact surface of the recess -6-.
  • Figure 4 shows the variant of a hard metal insert -3- which can be used several times.
  • the insert -3- has the basic shape of a tetrahedral stump.
  • a lasting profile -4- is introduced into each of the three lateral surfaces.
  • the insert -3- can be used three times.
  • Due to the tetrahedron-shaped basic shape of the insert -3-, the correspondingly adapted recess -6- in the base body -1- of the jaws suitable for such an insert -3- has two rear contact surfaces running at an angle of 60 °.
  • the working pressure acting on these contact surfaces counteracts the notch effect occurring in the pinch profile -4- of the insert, as a result of which this type of insert -3- can also withstand higher loads.
  • FIG. 5 shows another embodiment of a reusable hard metal insert -3-.
  • This insert -3- has the basic shape of a truncated pyramid.
  • a lasting profile -4- is introduced into each of the four lateral surfaces, which enables the insert -3- to be used four times.
  • Corresponding baffles on the lasting profile -4- are used to support the insert -3- on the rear contact surface of the correspondingly adapted recess -6- of the associated base body -1- of the lasting jaw, which at the same time largely prevent the direct collision of the cutting edges even when improperly adjusted.
  • Such a design of a hard metal insert -3- is particularly suitable for smaller machines for the production of smaller nail types, where lower loads occur.
