Definitions
- the invention relates to a cord embroidery device for an embroidery machine with a thread transmitter coupled to the up and down movement of the sewing needle, which has an eyelet for the cord, and with two cord guides arranged in the range of motion of the eyelet.
- cords in particular elastic cords
- an electronically controlled unwinding device In practice, cords, in particular elastic cords, are applied to the embroidery material with an electronically controlled unwinding device.
- the tension of the cord is measured and the pull-off speed of the cord is regulated by an assigned spool in accordance with the tension.
- Such an unwinder is relatively large, heavy and requires an electrical supply.
- the cord is first passed through a fixed eyelet, then through the eyelet of the thread take-up device and finally through another eyelet to the embroidery foot (see for example US-A-4 215 641).
- the thread transmitter with its eyelet moves between the two fixed eyelets vertically between an upper and lower dead center.
- the cord cannot be applied to the embroidery material without strain relief.
- the object of the invention is to provide a cord embroidery device of the type described at the outset, which has a small design, no electrical supply required and the cord relieves the embroidery material.
- the cord guides have backstops, with a backstop blocking the cord return from an embroidery foot to the thread take-up device and another backstop blocking the cord return from the thread take-up device to a cord storage device.
- the cord can only move in one direction between the cord guides and the embroidery foot. There is usually enough loose material between the two cord guides so that the cord, the cord consumption of which is determined by the movement of the embroidery material, is fed to the embroidery material with strain relief.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the cord guides are formed from rollers with associated backstops and that the rollers are arranged on both sides of the path of movement of the eyelet on the thread take-up device.
- the rollers are expediently arranged at the same height.
- the rollers should preferably be arranged in a plane below the path center of the thread feeder.
- the cord is first guided by the cord storage via a first roll with a large wrap angle, this first roll having a backstop in such a way that withdrawal of the cord to the cord storage is prevented. From this first roll, the cord is then passed through the eyelet of the thread take-up device via the second roll, also with a large wrap angle, to the embroidery foot.
- the backstop of the second roll prevents the cord from retracting from the embroidery foot to the roll.
- the backstops can be designed as a freewheel.
- the rolls can have a roughened peripheral surface. Furthermore, the rolls can have circumferential rings on both sides of the circumferential surface so that the cord does not slip off the rolls.
- the cord guides can be designed as eyelets, which are each assigned backstops.
- the drawing shows the housing arm 1 of an embroidery machine, in which a driven needle bar 2 is guided up and down.
- the needle bar 2 carries a needle 3 for a sewing thread 4 at its lower end.
- a holding bar 5 for an embroidery foot 6 extends parallel to the needle bar 2.
- a thread transmitter 7 is fastened, which in the embodiment shown has an upwardly extending, angled end with an eyelet 8.
- a bracket 9 is attached to the end face of the arm 1 and has two axes 10 for rollers 11, 12 mounted thereon.
- the two rollers 11, 12 have a roughened circumferential surface and circumferential rings 13 on both sides of the circumferential surface.
- Each roller 11 or 12 is equipped with a backstop, which is not shown in detail and which can be a freewheel.
- a cord 14 is first passed from a cord spool, not shown, over the right-hand roller 12 in FIG and finally led to the embroidery foot 6.
- the backstop of the roll 12 is set up so that withdrawal of the cord 14 from this roll 12 is blocked. Accordingly, the roller 12 can only rotate in the direction of arrow 15.
- the backstop of the roller 11 is set up so that a withdrawal of the cord 11 from the embroidery foot 6 via the roller 11 is blocked. Accordingly, the roller 11 can only rotate in the direction of the arrow 16.
- Both rollers 11, 12 are arranged in a horizontal plane below the path center of the eyelet 8 on the thread transmitter 7.
- the thread transmitter 7 catches up the cord 14 from the cord spool. Since the rollers 11, 12 have an opposite direction of rotation, the roller 11 blocks and due to the looping of the roller 11, the cord 14 is relieved of tension to the embroidery base via the roller 12 by the cord spool.
- the cord 14 is embroidered. Since the eyelet 8 of the thread transmitter 7 has a smaller distance from the center of the axis of the rollers 11 and 12 when embroidering, the cord 14 is applied to the embroidery material 17 with strain relief. The cord consumption is determined by the movement of the embroidery material 17.

Description
The invention relates to a cord embroidery device for an embroidery machine with a thread transmitter coupled to the up and down movement of the sewing needle, which has an eyelet for the cord, and with two cord guides arranged in the range of motion of the eyelet.
In practice, cords, in particular elastic cords, are applied to the embroidery material with an electronically controlled unwinding device. The tension of the cord is measured and the pull-off speed of the cord is regulated by an assigned spool in accordance with the tension. Such an unwinder is relatively large, heavy and requires an electrical supply.
In another generic cord embroidery device, the cord is first passed through a fixed eyelet, then through the eyelet of the thread take-up device and finally through another eyelet to the embroidery foot (see for example US-A-4 215 641). The thread transmitter with its eyelet moves between the two fixed eyelets vertically between an upper and lower dead center. However, the cord cannot be applied to the embroidery material without strain relief.
The object of the invention is to provide a cord embroidery device of the type described at the outset, which has a small design, no electrical supply required and the cord relieves the embroidery material.
This object is achieved in that the cord guides have backstops, with a backstop blocking the cord return from an embroidery foot to the thread take-up device and another backstop blocking the cord return from the thread take-up device to a cord storage device. When this cord device is in operation, the cord can only move in one direction between the cord guides and the embroidery foot. There is usually enough loose material between the two cord guides so that the cord, the cord consumption of which is determined by the movement of the embroidery material, is fed to the embroidery material with strain relief.
A preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the cord guides are formed from rollers with associated backstops and that the rollers are arranged on both sides of the path of movement of the eyelet on the thread take-up device. The rollers are expediently arranged at the same height. The rollers should preferably be arranged in a plane below the path center of the thread feeder. The cord is first guided by the cord storage via a first roll with a large wrap angle, this first roll having a backstop in such a way that withdrawal of the cord to the cord storage is prevented. From this first roll, the cord is then passed through the eyelet of the thread take-up device via the second roll, also with a large wrap angle, to the embroidery foot. The backstop of the second roll prevents the cord from retracting from the embroidery foot to the roll. The backstops can be designed as a freewheel.
In order to improve the adhesion of the cord to the rolls, the rolls can have a roughened peripheral surface. Furthermore, the rolls can have circumferential rings on both sides of the circumferential surface so that the cord does not slip off the rolls.
In another embodiment, the cord guides can be designed as eyelets, which are each assigned backstops.

At the lower end of the needle bar 2, a thread transmitter 7 is fastened, which in the embodiment shown has an upwardly extending, angled end with an
As can be seen in particular from FIG. 1, a

In the position shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the thread transmitter 7 catches up the
In the position shown in Figures 3 and 4, the
