Definitions

  • the invention relates to a pipe plug for closing a defective heat exchanger tube, in which a hollow cylindrical part merges into a hollow conical part closed at the free end and the cylindrical part has an outer diameter which is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the heat exchanger pipe to be closed, and through Widening is brought into sealing contact with the inner surface of the heat exchanger tube, means for inserting and locking a drawing tool being fitted in the cylindrical part and / or in the conical part.
  • a pipe plug of the type mentioned is known for example from EP-A-0 137 984.
  • This pipe plug is provided with burrs on its outer circumference in the area to be expanded in order to achieve a good press fit and a good sealing effect.
  • a threaded hole is provided in the pipe plug, into which a threaded shaft can be screwed. Due to the ridges arranged on the outer circumference, however, high forces are required for pulling and the removal of the pipe plugs is difficult
  • US-A-4 513 786 discloses a pipe plug having a substantially constant outside diameter, with a portion of the plug near its open end having a slightly larger diameter so as to ensure an easy interference fit in the pipe.
  • a band of deformable material either gold, silver or pure iron, is applied to a portion of the outer surface of the plug.
  • the pipe plug is then inserted flush into the pipe end. It is then expanded by means of a rolling device in the section provided with the deformable material, so that a tight connection with the tube is produced.
  • This pipe plug is difficult to remove and can only be removed using special gripping tools.
  • corrosion-promoting deposits can collect in the unexpanded area between the pipe plug and the heat exchanger pipe. These lead to the destruction of the pipe plug or the pipe.
  • the present invention has for its object to provide a rolling plug of the type mentioned, which has greater holding forces compared to the known pipe plug with improved sealing effect and is still easy to pull, and in which the formation of high mechanical stresses and thus the development during rolling Risk of subsequent stress corrosion cracking is avoided.
  • the indentations are ring-shaped.
  • This design of the pipe plug enables the use of a simple drawing tool which is provided with expandable barbs. A simple, time-saving pulling of the pipe plug is possible, so that the dose load on the operating personnel can be kept very small.
  • a nickel material is preferably used as the deformable metal. This results in a particularly high corrosion resistance and good ductility of the pipe plug, which leads to a particularly tight connection in heat exchanger pipes, which mostly consist of Inconel.

  • FIG 3 shows the cylindrical part 3 of a cut pipe plug 1, which has on its inside on the pipe plug wall 11 a web 12a, which is preferably meandering. By melting the pipe plug 1 on such a track 12a, the pipe plug 1 can be easily removed from the heat exchanger pipe 2.
  • FIG. 4 shows a section of the conical part 4 in cross section, which is provided with means 6 for inserting a drawing tool 15.
  • the means are designed as a recess 13. Extendable claws 14 of a drawing tool 15 can be hooked into the recesses 13.
  • the turns 13 are annular.
  • Such a drawing tool 15 is particularly quick and easy to use, as a result of which particularly short operating times are achieved. This also keeps the dose burden on the operating personnel very low.
  • the pipe plug 1 is then removed from the heat exchanger pipe 2 by means of the drawing tool 15.
  • FIG. 5 shows a further embodiment of the pipe plug 1, in which the means 6 are designed as threads 16.
