Definitions

  • the invention relates to a muzzle closure for a discharge cartridge for multicomponent systems, with at least two parallel plugs protruding from a common base, which plugs fit into adjacent discharge channels in the muzzle of the cartridge according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • a mouth closure of this type for a discharge cartridge for two-component systems is known from DE-OS 20 17 292 .
  • two parallel plugs which protrude from it are provided on a common base and fit into two discharge channels opening out next to one another in the mouthpiece of a cartridge.
  • the dimensions of the discharge channels are exactly matched to the outer dimensions of the plugs and the two-part base also consists of a base plate and an insert piece rotatably mounted thereon, which is designed as a further sealing surface.
  • the plugs themselves are combined as a cap with an internal thread and this is connected to the cartridge via an external thread of an attachment; ie the base with the two protruding plugs is screwed into the discharge channels by a screwing movement for the purpose of closing. This then results in a large sealing surface over which it is to be prevented that neither one nor the other component escapes during or after the closing process.
  • muzzle closure is known, for example, from US Pat. No. 3,828,980. In that case, it is a cartridge that is manufactured with a sealed mouth that remains closed during the sale and storage of the filled cartridge. Only when the contents of the cartridge are used is the muzzle tip cut off in order to open the discharge channels. The simply designed closure part is only used when the cartridge is only partially emptied and the mouth has to be closed temporarily, i.e. only for a short time.
  • Another generic muzzle closure is known from EP publication no. 0 261 466. If such a closure is to be used for a cartridge manufactured with open discharge channels, it is used immediately after it has been filled and must then close reliably during the entire storage period until the contents are used by the consumer.
  • the closure part is not subject to vibrations, pressure surges on the cartridge contents, temperature fluctuations, etc., such as occur during storage and transport loosens, its plugs should be stuck in the discharge channels with considerable pressure. However, this would make it considerably more difficult for the user to insert the closure and, in particular, to remove it. In addition, with the frequently occurring, non-circular or corner cross sections of the discharge channels, it is not easy to produce the required exact fit between the channel and plug cross sections.
  • bottle stopper systems are also known, for example ( US Pat. No. 3,215,298 ), which have a circumferential sealing cone in the actual closure area.
  • the latter is surrounded by an elastic material and is designed such that, with increasing internal pressure, it increasingly lies against the inner surface of the rounded bottle neck that lies against the outside.
  • progressively acting anchor means prevent the conical part from being pushed out of its sealing function.
  • Such systems have a large sealing surface in the actual sealing area, but are very expensive to manufacture and are therefore not suitable for simple and inexpensive mass devices.
  • closure caps without such plugs are used, which are either designed as screw caps or for bayonet fastening.
  • the sealing takes place on a flat end face of the mouthpiece, into which the discharge channels open side by side.
  • the sealing cap In the case of two-component or multi-component cartridges with two or more discharge channels, the sealing cap must contain an elastic sealing insert, which is pressed against the sealing surface on the front. It must namely be avoided with certainty that the material components stored separately in the cartridge and in the closely adjacent discharge channels reaching as far as the sealing surface mentioned come into contact with one another.
  • the object of the present invention is to design a muzzle closure of the type mentioned at the beginning, that it avoids the difficulties mentioned, meets all requirements, is simple and inexpensive to manufacture and is easy to use.
  • a muzzle closure according to claim 1.
  • Such a muzzle closure can be produced simply and efficiently, preferably in one piece (although multi-part designs are not excluded). Since the seal is mainly created by edge pressure at the mouth edges of the channels, a high pressure in the cross section of the plug is not necessary. This allows easy insertion and removal of the closure on the one hand, but on the other hand the anchor means engaging on the cartridge ensure a high level of functional reliability.
  • the mouth closure 20 according to FIGS. 1 and 3 is intended to close the mouth fitting 3 of a two-component discharge cartridge 10 according to FIG. 2.
  • the material components of the two-component system - for example a resin and a hardener - are filled into storage cylinder 2 of the cartridge by the manufacturer and stored separately therein.
  • the two storage cylinders 2 are separated by an intermediate wall 9 and each have a discharge channel 4. Both discharge channels 4 extend side by side in the mouthpiece 3 up to its end face 6.
  • Corresponding parallel plugs 14 of the mouth closure 20, which are adapted to the cross section of the channels 4, are used to close the channels 4.
  • storage cylinders 2, discharge channels 4 and sealing plugs 14 are provided in a corresponding number.
  • the cylinders 2, the discharge channels 4 and the suitable plugs 14 can have the same or different cross-section. Not infrequently - as shown - the cross-section is angular, ie the plugs 14 have longitudinal edges, which practically makes it impossible to use O-rings or the like for sealing.
  • the mouth closure 20 has the purpose of filling the cartridge during to guarantee a secure closure of the muzzle channels during the entire storage time and the distribution of the cartridge until the cartridge content is used and, above all, to prevent mutual contact of the material components in the muzzle area.
  • the plugs 14 protrude in parallel from a common base 11, which in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 3 is designed as a handle plate.
  • Anchoring means are connected to the base 11 and are intended for engagement on the cartridge 10 in order to axially secure the inserted closure 20. 1 and 3, two legs 17 extending approximately parallel to the stopper 14 are formed on the edge of the handle plate 11 forming the base. These can spring transversely to the stopper 14 and have locking cams 18 at the free ends.
  • the anchor means 17, 18 thus formed cooperate with bayonet bases 7, which are formed on the front side of the cartridge 10 on both sides of the mouth piece 3.
  • bayonet bases 7 are known to later hold a discharge nozzle, in particular the tube of a static mixer, in the extension of the outlet nozzle 3 when the contents are discharged through the channels 4.
  • the plugs 14 When the muzzle closure 20 is put on, the plugs 14 are axially inserted into the channels 4, whereupon the latching cams 18 slide over the bayonet base 7 while the legs 17 are deflected, and finally engage behind them. As a result, the underside of the handle plate 11 is held against the end face 6 of the mouth piece 3.
  • the plugs 14 keep the channels 4 free from the stored material components; If the closure is already inserted before the material components are filled in, the plugs 14 also prevent air inclusions which could otherwise form in the outlet channels 4.
  • the actual sealing of the mouth during long-term storage does not primarily take place by fitting the plugs 14 in the channels 4, but rather along the mouth edge 5 of each channel, specifically by means of a special measure, as described in detail with reference to FIG. 4 is explained.
  • the plugs 14 each have a circumferential thickening 15 at the transition to the base 11. This thickening 15 comes to bear tightly against the mouth edge 5 of the discharge channel 4 in question as soon as the mouth closure 20 is fully inserted and is held on the cartridge 10 by the anchor means.
  • the circumferential thickening 15 at the base of each plug 14 can, as shown in FIG. 4, be designed as a conical bevel; Other configurations are also conceivable, for example in the form of a rounded fillet or a transition radius from the plug 14 to the base 11 5 slightly deformed by the circumferential thickening 15, or the mouth edge 5 is pressed into the thickening 15 while deforming it.
  • a circumferential sealing bead 19 can be provided as an additional seal, which is integrally formed on the stopper 14 at a certain distance from the base 11. Such a bead brings about an additional seal by radial pressure against the inner wall of the discharge channel 4.
  • the cross section of the plugs 14 and that of the discharge channels 4 can have an asymmetry, for example by providing a surface 14 'or 4' on one side. Such an asymmetry prevents the interchanged insertion of the plugs 14 into the channels 4 (by 180 ° against 1 twisted mouth closure 20).
  • the measure is expedient if the mouth closure is used by the user of the cartridge to close the mouth again after the cartridge has been partially emptied. This prevents cartridge contents adhering to the stopper 14 from coming into contact with the other material component when it is reinserted.
  • resilient legs 17a connected to the base 11a are again provided as anchor means.
  • the free ends of the legs 17a have hooks 18a which engage behind the bayonet base 7 on the cartridge 10. Since the legs 17a start from a cover plate 16 arranged at a distance from the base 11a, they are longer than in the example according to FIGS. 1 to 3.
  • the closure according to FIGS. 5 and 6 is secured against unintentional pulling away from the cartridge 10: around the closure
  • the resilient legs 17a must first be pressed against one another by hand in order to release the hooks 18a from engagement with the bases 7.
  • a cylindrical collar 13 which surrounds the stopper 14, protrudes from the base 11a and overlaps the mouth piece 3.
  • Such a collar offers additional security in order to ensure the tightness of the closure, if, for example, lateral forces act on the closure part 20a during transport, which could push it wrong.
  • the embodiment of a mouth closure 20b according to FIGS. 7 and 8 is formed in two parts.
  • a first part has the base 11b, from which the plugs 14 and a collar 13 surrounding them protrude.
  • the second part is designed as a bolt 21 which engages over the base 11b and is rotatably mounted thereon.
  • a central centering cam 26 engages in a corresponding recess on the base 11b.
  • the bolt 21 is provided with two diametrically opposed bayonet anchors 23 with lugs 24, the latter intended for engaging behind the bayonet base 7 on the cartridge 10 are.
  • the latch 21 has gripping surfaces 22 for rotary actuation. When the latch 21 is in the position indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG.
  • the plugs 14 can be inserted axially into the discharge channels, and by rotating the latch 90 °, the lugs 24 engage under the bayonet bases 7.
  • the closure 20b is then securely anchored to the cartridge 10;
  • the lugs 24 can be provided with a suit on their upper side in order to increase the axial pressure on the base 11b.
  • the mouth closure 20c according to FIGS. 9, 10 and 11 is again made in one piece.
  • Two legs 33 running approximately parallel to the plugs 14 are provided as anchor means. These each have a hook 34 at one end and a grip cam 35 at the other end. In between, in a central area, they are resiliently connected to a plate 31 which is formed on the lower edge of the collar 13 projecting from the base 11c.
  • the cartridge 10a, for which the closure 20c is intended has an end plate 7a, which connects the end sides of the cartridge cylinders 2 and protrudes on both sides of the mouth piece 3 (seen in FIG. 10). When the mouth closure 20c is inserted, the hooks 34 engage behind the end plate 7a mentioned, as a result of which the closure is axially secured.
  • the two legs 33 are pressed against one another by hand on the grip cams 35, as a result of which the hooks 34 are released and the closure can be removed. Openings 32 in the plate 31 facilitate the resilient bending of the plate edges connected to the legs 33 when the legs are actuated.
  • a projection 36 projecting upward from the base 11c serves as a stop when the handle cams 35 are pressed together.
