Description

The invention relates to a roll insulation for heat and sound insulation, in particular on flat roofs, with strip-shaped strips of rectangular cross-section made of polystyrene plastic foam which are connected to one another and can be rolled up on one side by means of a continuous, flexible carrier sheet.

In such roll insulation sheets, the carrier sheets usually consist of bitumen sheets which overlap at least on one side of the small-format segmented polystyrene plastic foam sheets arranged thereon. Such roll insulation sheets enable very efficient processing in building construction and especially on flat roofs. In addition, they relieve the roof sealing in the installed state, especially in flat roof applications, because the small-sized segmentation - in contrast to thermal insulation made of panels - in the joint area means that the stresses caused by thermal expansion and contraction cannot occur.

In addition to these advantages, there are also serious disadvantages. This is because laying inaccuracies often occur during laying, since during the laying process the longitudinal edges of the segmented polystyrene plastic foam are covered by the overlap of the bitumen membranes and a check is therefore practically no longer possible. In addition, the known roll insulation sheets with polystyrene plastic foam as well as with mineral fiber insulation panels are only available in conventional flat roofs, i.e. can be used underneath the roof waterproofing, since even when using extruded polystyrene foam there is a risk of moisture penetration because the bitumen membranes are located on the outside of the insulation material, which massively obstructs the passage of steam.

In recent times, however, so-called inverted roofs are often installed on flat roofs, i.e. Roofs where the roof sealing is below the insulation and whose sufficient lifespan has now been proven.

The present invention is therefore based on the object of providing roller insulation sheets which, while maintaining the advantages described at the outset, can also be laid on inverted roofs. In addition, such roll insulation sheeting should also bring about better sound insulation and, if necessary, can be used directly as a base for roof gardens.

The solution to this problem is disclosed in the accompanying claims 1, 2, 6 and 7 in the character.

The closest prior art is British Patent 1 103 551, which describes a roof covering in which strips of rectangular foam plastic strips lying side by side, which are connected to one another by means of a continuous, flexible carrier web, can be rolled up. Here, when the plastic foam is glued to the preferably bitumen-impregnated carrier web, a vapor-blocking layer, preferably made of bitumen, is produced.

In contrast to this, in the subject matter of the present invention, the flexible carrier web consists of a water-insensitive, vapor-permeable nonwoven; this is the opposite of a vapor barrier layer.

The literature reference Building Physics 12 (1989), which describes so-called Aquadrain mats, should also be mentioned regarding the state of the art. These drainage sheets are not insulation sheets, because the polystyrene extruder foam only fulfills the function of spacers to ensure free spaces for the water flow; the synthetic fiber fleece, which is glued to extruded polystyrene units, which are arranged at large intervals next to each other, has the function of filtering dirt particles and not the function of allowing water vapor to pass through.

As can be seen from the perspective view according to FIG. 1, the roll insulation sheet has strips 1 of rectangular cross-section made of extruded polystyrene plastic foam lying next to one another in the form of strips, onto which a continuous nonwoven fabric sheet 2 is laminated on the upper side according to the illustrated embodiment. This nonwoven web 2 expediently consists of a relatively dense mineral fiber material of sufficient strength. whose weight per unit area should be about 70 to 300 g / m². However, it is also possible to use nonwovens made of thermoplastic materials.

In the same way, however, it is also possible to use a layer of water vapor-permeable polyurethane as a flexible carrier web, which is sprayed onto the adjacent polystyrene plastic foam strips 1 in only liquid form.

Such a roll insulation sheet is generally delivered in the rolled-up state shown and then rolled out flat on the roof so that the polystyrene plastic foam 1 is at the bottom and the flexible carrier sheet in the form of the nonwoven fabric 2 or the polyurethane layer is at the top. This achieves optimal thermal insulation, since moisture can diffuse through the polystyrene foam 1 and is not further impeded by the nonwoven fabric 2 or the polyurethane layer. On the other hand, however, this flexible carrier web 2 prevents the penetration of sharp-edged pebbles between the joints of the individual plastic foam strips 1 and to the actual, underlying roof sealing, which is not shown here.

In order to give such roll insulation sheets better sound and fire protection properties, there is - as can be seen in particular from FIG. 2 - the direct lamination above the polystyrene foam segments 1 from a mineral fiber layer 3 in the form of mats or plates, the additional lamination with the nonwoven fabric 2 are. Here, the mineral fiber plate 3 is segmented in the same way as the polystyrene foam 1.

It is also possible, however, in accordance with the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 3, to dispense with the additional nonwoven layer 2 lying on top and instead to use a smooth, continuous mineral fiber layer 4, which then simultaneously assumes the function of the carrier spell.

In addition to the exemplary embodiments shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, it is also possible, as shown in FIG. 4, to also provide a further mineral fiber insulation layer 5 on the underside of the polystyrene plastic foam layer 1, or, according to FIG. 6, solely below the polystyrene foam layer 1 to arrange a mineral fiber layer 5. With such a design, it is possible to close these roll insulation sheets using hot bitumen, for example on trapezoidal steel sheet roofs glue, which can also result in certain advantages in the event of fire due to the mineral fiber insulation layer below.

A further possible application of such roller insulation sheeting results for roof gardens with inverted roofs, as is shown in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 6. In this case, a layer 6 of mineral fiber insulation material is laminated onto the polystyrene plastic foam layer 1, which is once thicker and, on the other hand, consists of a material that has proven itself for green roofs as a moisture store and as a replacement for the earth substrate. This means that planting can take place directly in the mineral fiber layer 6.

When used for green roofs, however, it can also be expedient to provide the individual polystyrene foam sheets 1 on their upper side with non-woven fabric 2 with longitudinal grooves 7, as is shown in FIG. 1 for the two outer strips and in FIG. 7. In addition or also alone, transverse grooves 8 can also be provided in accordance with FIG. 8. Through these grooves, horizontal drainage can be achieved in the green roof. In addition, the water in the grooves itself lasts longer, which, depending on the planting, can have a positive influence on the vegetation.

Thus, such a roller insulation sheet in roof gardens fulfills several functions at the same time, namely that of thermal insulation, a moisture accumulator and at the same time a planting ground, which saves several work steps when creating such a roof garden and enables particularly efficient laying.

If an elastic, water-vapor-permeable layer, for example made of polyurethane, is used as the flexible carrier sheet for such roll insulation sheets as a flexible carrier sheet, this results in a particularly economical production of such sheets. The individual segmented plates can then be strung together and coated continuously or sprayed with the polyurethane in still liquid form. The plates can be scratched beforehand, for example with a sharp knife, at the desired distance. After the coating has set, the panels are broken along the incisions and can then be rolled. If the panels were not completely cut before, then there is no cut loss in the finished roll insulation and therefore no thermal bridges when used later.

The roll insulation sheets according to the invention described can thus now also be used for inverted roof structures and installed more precisely, and they also offer better sound insulation. At the same time, they can perform several functions with special mineral fiber insulation board lamination or a corresponding grooving in the green roof, and with mineral fiber lamination on the underside they can be better installed in the heat-bonded, conventional roof without gravel weighting with better properties in use.

Finally, it is also possible that such roll insulation sheets are used as external insulation and protective sheets for building outer walls in the ground. Such sheets also adapt better to uneven surfaces. In addition, such tracks in a grooved design also serve for vertical drainage.
