Definitions
- the invention relates to a cover strip for gluing to window frames or the like for the purpose of covering a gap between the window frame and reveal, in which a foam strip protrudes transversely to the adhesive fastening surface.
- the object of the invention is based on the object of designing a cover strip of the type in question in a technically simple manner so that the attachment of the cover strips at the construction site is facilitated.
- cover strips can be equipped with the compressed foam strip from the outset and delivered. Before gluing, the foam strip is then in the cover strip or in the channel the same in a compressed state. The foam strip is prevented from expanding by the cover strip closing the channel. There are therefore no disruptive protrusions from the foam strip during transport. Only at the construction site before the cover strip is glued on, the cover strip is disengaged without tools, by pulling it out or the like from its marginal interlocking engagement connection, in particular a clip connection to the end edges of the channel side walls, so that the foam strip can then expand to fit tightly Soffit surface to achieve high tightness.
- the front edges of the cover strip can extend to the reveal surface, so that the foam strip is protected from the weather and ensures a long service life.
- the foam strip is preferably such that it always includes a tension reserve when the cover strip is mounted, so that the foam strip always lies tightly against the reveal surface.
- the foam strip it can be one that has a delayed restoring effect due to appropriate impregnation. If the delayed reset takes more time than the sticking time when sticking on, this makes work easier when attaching the cover strip, since it is not necessary to support the cover strip.
- the foam strip is not pressed on until the adhesive has been bonded.
- the clip connection of the cover strip overlaying the foam strip can be produced with simple means.
- the front edges of the channel walls form the inwardly directed ribs.
- the ribs enlarge the area with which the cover strip can step against the window reveal.
- the overlap of the rib over the cover strip preferably corresponds approximately to the thickness of the channel wall. This measure is sufficient to securely tie the cover strip.
- Another possibility of producing the clip connection is to provide the channel walls on their longitudinal edges near the end edges with longitudinal grooves into which the edges of the cover strip enter.
- the flexible cover strip can be detached from its clip connection by bulging the cover strip. This process is facilitated by the rebounding channel walls of the cover strip, which is preferably made of appropriate plastic.
- the cover strip In order to detach it, one end of the cover strip must be grasped and a force exerted thereon in the direction of the channel opening. Another possibility is to pull the cover strip out of the cover strip in the longitudinal direction after grasping its end. The aforementioned manipulations can be easily accomplished in the short term. If the cover strip is made, for example, of wood and not, as in the example, of plastic, it may be cheaper to produce the positive-locking engagement connection by means of pointed teeth or the like, which protrude from the edge of the cover strip and dig into the wood. Variations in the cross-sectional design of the cover strip are possible.
- the channel can thus extend on one broad side surface of a hollow profile, which can be adapted in a favorable manner to the window frame profile in order to achieve the best possible adaptation.
- the hollow profile also has the advantage that the adhesive fastening surface between the cover strip and window frame can be made relatively large, combined with increased fastening stability of the glued cover strip.
- the channel wall facing away from the window frame can be preceded by a protective longitudinal wall made of the same material as the cover strip, forming a prechamber.
- a protective longitudinal wall made of the same material as the cover strip, forming a prechamber.
- the protective longitudinal wall creates a labyrinth in a way, so that moisture, etc. cannot get directly to the foam strip. It is advisable, to design the clear width of the antechamber so that it is the same or slightly thicker than the channel wall.
- the sealing protection is further improved by the fact that the protective longitudinal wall projects slightly beyond the adjacent channel wall.
- the number 1 denotes masonry, which has a stepped reveal 2 for installing a window 3.
- the latter is composed of a window frame 4 and a window sash 5.
- a cover strip 6 is used to cover an existing gap between the window frame 4 and the reveal 2.
- the aforementioned cover strip 6 is U-shaped in cross section. It is composed of a U-web 7 and the legs 8, 9 extending therefrom.
- a channel 10 for receiving a foam strip 11 is formed by the U-web 7 and the U-legs 8, 9. Accordingly, only the legs 8, 9 represent the channel walls.
- the foam strip 11 is inserted in the compressed state. By appropriate impregnation of the foam strip 10, a delayed reset of the same can be achieved.
- ribs 14 and 15 At the end edges 12, 13 of the U-legs 8, 9 or the channel walls formed by them there are inwardly directed ribs 14 and 15. Their task is to hold a cover strip 16 overlapping the compressed foam strips 11 in a clip connection on the cover strip 6 . This cover strip 16 prevents the foam strip 11 from expanding. It therefore remains in a compressed state within the channel 10 of the cover strip 6.
- the ribs 14, 15 are dimensioned 50 thick, moreover, so that they only overlap the cover strip 16 by a fraction of the channel width.
- the present overlapping of the ribs 14, 15 is equal to or less than the thickness of the channel wall or leg 8, 9. Accordingly, the ribs 14, 15 do not represent an obstacle to the expansion of the foam strip 11.
- the corresponding sections are glued to the window frame 4.
- the adhesive fastening surface K is located between the outer surface of the U-leg 8 and the corresponding area of the window frame 4: before gluing however, the cover strip 16 is removed from the channel 10. This can be done either by pulling out or by arching out the cover strip, in which case the legs 8, 9 deflect resiliently in order to then return to their starting position.
- the foam strip 11 is reset, which comes into a tight contact position with the reveal and produces a good seal of the gap between the window frame and the reveal.
- the cover strip 17 is shaped into a hollow profile.
- the latter has a trapezoidal profile with the trapezoidal walls 18, 19, 20 and 21.
- the trapezoidal wall 21 continues in alignment beyond the trapezoidal wall 18 to form a channel wall 22.
- This is parallel to a channel wall 23 which is at a distance from the trapezoidal wall 19 and from the trapezoid wall 18 goes out.
- Both the channel walls 22, 23 and a section of the trapezoidal wall 18 form a channel 24 for receiving a foam strip 11. This is used in a compressed state and is prevented from expanding by a cover strip 26.
- the channel wall 23 facing away from the window frame is preceded by a protective longitudinal wall 29 which is made of the same material as the cover strip 17 and forms a prechamber 30.
- the protective longitudinal wall 29 extends from one end region of the trapezoidal wall 18 and is opposite the one Trapezoidal wall 19 stepped.
- the clear width of the pre-chamber 30 is somewhat larger than the thickness of the channel wall 23.
- the designed as a hollow profile cover strip 17 forms with its trapezoidal wall 21 and the aligned channel wall 22, the adhesive mounting surface K ', which is larger in area compared to the previously dealt with embodiment with appropriate dimensions of the channel.
- the hollow profile 17 allows, moreover, a favorable adaptation to window frames, so that corresponding windows are given a cheap appearance.
- the attachment of the cover strip 17 covering a gap between the window frame 4 and reveal 2 is done in a similar manner.
- the cover strip 17 is preferably positioned such that the protective longitudinal wall 29 is supported with its free end edge on the reveal 2, cf. Fig. 6. In this way, the expanding foam strip is largely protected from the weather. It should be emphasized that in this second embodiment, no protruding parts of the channel walls interfere with the expansion of the foam strip.
- FIGS. 8 to 10 largely corresponds to the second embodiment.
- the same parts therefore have the same reference numbers.
- the clip connection is now formed by ribs 31, 32 projecting into the channel, which emanate from the end edges of the channel walls 22, 23 and overlap the cover strip 26.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a cover strip for gluing to window frames or the like for the purpose of covering a gap between the window frame and reveal, in which a foam strip protrudes transversely to the adhesive fastening surface.
It is known to supply the foam strips made of foamable material in rolls and to roll them up in laborious assembly at the construction site onto the cover strip, which is then used to cover a gap between the window frame and reveal, preferably when installing windows.
The object of the invention is based on the object of designing a cover strip of the type in question in a technically simple manner so that the attachment of the cover strips at the construction site is facilitated.
This object is achieved by the invention specified in
The subclaims represent advantageous developments of the solution according to the invention.
As a result of such a configuration, a generic cover strip of increased utility value is created. The cover strips can be equipped with the compressed foam strip from the outset and delivered. The front edges of the cover strip can extend to the reveal surface, so that the foam strip is protected from the weather and ensures a long service life. The foam strip is preferably such that it always includes a tension reserve when the cover strip is mounted, so that the foam strip always lies tightly against the reveal surface. With regard to the foam strip, it can be one that has a delayed restoring effect due to appropriate impregnation. If the delayed reset takes more time than the sticking time when sticking on, this makes work easier when attaching the cover strip, since it is not necessary to support the cover strip. The foam strip is not pressed on until the adhesive has been bonded. The clip connection of the cover strip overlaying the foam strip can be produced with simple means. For this purpose, according to one version, the front edges of the channel walls form the inwardly directed ribs. These overlap the cover strip only by a fraction of the channel width, so that the ribs the foam stripes do not hinder its expansion. Furthermore, the ribs enlarge the area with which the cover strip can step against the window reveal. The overlap of the rib over the cover strip preferably corresponds approximately to the thickness of the channel wall. This measure is sufficient to securely tie the cover strip. Another possibility of producing the clip connection is to provide the channel walls on their longitudinal edges near the end edges with longitudinal grooves into which the edges of the cover strip enter. The flexible cover strip can be detached from its clip connection by bulging the cover strip. This process is facilitated by the rebounding channel walls of the cover strip, which is preferably made of appropriate plastic. In order to detach it, one end of the cover strip must be grasped and a force exerted thereon in the direction of the channel opening. The channel can thus extend on one broad side surface of a hollow profile, which can be adapted in a favorable manner to the window frame profile in order to achieve the best possible adaptation. The hollow profile also has the advantage that the adhesive fastening surface between the cover strip and window frame can be made relatively large, combined with increased fastening stability of the glued cover strip.
Then the channel wall facing away from the window frame can be preceded by a protective longitudinal wall made of the same material as the cover strip, forming a prechamber. These protect the foam strip even better from the weather. Furthermore, the protective longitudinal wall creates a labyrinth in a way, so that moisture, etc. cannot get directly to the foam strip. It is advisable,
to design the clear width of the antechamber so that it is the same or slightly thicker than the channel wall. The sealing protection is further improved by the fact that the protective longitudinal wall projects slightly beyond the adjacent channel wall.

The
At the end edges 12, 13 of the U-legs 8, 9 or the channel walls formed by them there are inwardly directed
After the cover strips have been cut to the required length at the construction site, the corresponding sections are glued to the
After the
According to the second embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 5 to 7, the
The
The designed as a hollow
Fig. 6. The attachment of the
The third embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 8 to 10 largely corresponds to the second embodiment. The same parts therefore have the same reference numbers. Deviating from this, the clip connection is now formed by
