Definitions

  • the invention relates to a vacuum packaging machine with a safety device of a two-part chamber for deep drawing and / or evacuation.
  • Vacuum packaging machines usually have two chambers.
  • the chambers are formed in two parts and generally exist from an upper and a lower part.
  • the film level is between the two chamber parts.
  • At least one chamber part is designed to be movable. This is usually the lower part of the chamber, while the upper part of the chamber makes no or only slight movements. In contrast, the lifting movement of the lower chamber part is effected by a relatively powerful drive. For this reason, there is a risk of an accident. It cannot be ruled out that the operator can reach the area of the lifting movements by hand or arm. The previous safety devices to prevent such accidents are unsatisfactory. Flaps or similar means do not offer adequate protection. Covers that prevent access to the chamber space due to their length increase the external dimensions of the machine.
  • the first chamber serves to form depressions in one of the foils, while the other chamber has the task of evacuating the filled packs and sealing the edges of the two foils.
  • the filling station lies between these chambers.
  • a tub or gutter is provided, e.g. is placed a short distance below the bottom of the packaging.
  • DE-A-26 21 866 describes a securing device in which one of the chambers which is longitudinally movable along the transport path of the packaging or along the film plane carries an element which, in the open position, projects beyond the edge of the chamber towards the other chamber part and in its position towards the edge of the chamber via a control device triggers a switch so that the movement of the chamber parts towards each other is interrupted.
  • Such a safety device does not offer sufficient protection, since, for example, the chamber movement can be switched off too late, or the safety device is easily bridged. This danger arises in particular because the safety device must be dismantled each time the chamber is changed, that is to say the format is changed.
  • the invention has set itself the task of creating a safety device for such vacuum packaging machines, which does not lead to any appreciable enlargement of the external dimensions of the machine, provides reliable protection and which is practically impossible to manipulate.
  • the features of the vacuum packaging machine defined in claim 1 serve to solve this problem. It is assumed from a safety device of the type described above and suggested, among other things, that the safety device is carried by the chamber-side end of the trough and consists of a movable slide leading to this, which leads to the access to the chamber space, and the slide with switching elements is connected, which then stop the stroke of the carrier when the slide encounters an obstacle.
  • the slide according to the invention defined in claim 1 takes up little space and the manufacturing cost is comparatively low. By mounting on the tub, the slide can be easily adapted to the respective chamber size.
  • the slide Before the lifting process of the carrier begins, the slide is pushed upwards by a corresponding drive, which is then used, for example, to save time
  • the stroke movement of the chamber can already start during the movement of the slide. It is also possible to initiate the movement of the chamber only when the slide has reached its end position. If the slider encounters an obstacle, the movement of the carrier is stopped immediately or this does not start at all.
  • a switch is provided on the safety device, which interacts with a contact on the chamber. Since the securing device is arranged at the chamber-side end of the trough, it must be ensured that the device actually connects directly to the chamber before the work process of the chamber can begin. For this purpose, a contact is made between the safety device and the chamber, for example by means of a switch and magnetic strip. If the contact is interrupted, the machine is stopped. In this way, bridging or tampering with the device is ruled out and it is ensured that there is no gap between the chamber and the safety device, which can be manipulated by hand.
  • the slide almost completely covers access to the chamber space before the chamber movement begins. This altitude is achieved by the interaction of a switch on the safety device with a fixed reference point. If the intended height of the upper edge of the slide is not reached, the machine stops or the chamber does not even move raised. The space remaining in the end position of the slide is in any case too small to be able to intervene by hand.
  • the slide is arranged upstream or downstream of the chamber in the transport direction.
  • it must be ensured that the chamber cannot be accessed either from the front or from the rear, for example by arranging two securing devices on each side of the chamber.
  • the slide is driven by a pneumatic cylinder with a small diameter. It is advantageous if the slide drive is designed to be relatively weak, so that the signal for stopping the machine is triggered immediately even by a slight obstacle.
  • the tub consists of a movable and a rigid tub part.
  • the movable tub part preferably faces the chamber and carries the securing device at its chamber-side end. In this way, the securing device can be pushed directly up to the chamber, with an obstacle to the lifting movement of the chamber being excluded by the trough.
  • the length of the tub is adjusted, for example, by means of an elongated hole with a screw.
  • the figure shows a partial section through a chamber with a safety device.
  • the chamber consists of the two chamber parts 1 and 9.
  • the chamber can be used to form trough-like depressions into the film 10, that is to say to deep-draw them.
  • the chamber can also be a vacuum chamber in which two foils which lie on top of one another in the foil plane 3 are to be connected to one another, the cavities between the foils also being evacuated.
  • the running direction of the film 10 is indicated by the arrow 11.
  • the lower chamber part 1 is attached to the lifting beam 2, regardless of the devices of the safety device.
  • the lifting beam is raised and lowered in the direction of the double arrow 12 by a drive, not shown. Accordingly, the chamber part 1 also moves.
  • the other chamber part 9 performs no or only relatively minor movements which generally do not require a safety device.
  • the trough 25 is provided, which extends parallel to the running direction of the film 10.
  • the tub 25 is shown partially in section.
  • the trough 25 consists essentially of the movable trough part 28 and the rigid trough part 29. Both trough parts are firmly connected to one another during the working process of the machine.
  • the movable tub part 28 can be adjusted with the aid of the screw 30 and the elongated hole 31. Screw 30 and elongated hole 31 are preferably arranged on the sides of the trough, which can be designed, for example, in a channel shape, in order to avoid damaging the bottom 32 of the deep-drawn film troughs 13.
  • the securing device 14 is arranged at the chamber-side end 24 of the movable tub part 28.
  • the carrier 15 connects the securing device to the tub part 28, so that it is possible to bring the entire securing device in the immediate vicinity of the lower chamber part 1.
  • the size of the chamber depends in each case on the packaging format to be produced, and thus the chamber and thus the lower chamber part 1 extend to different degrees in the transport direction 11 of the packaging in different operating positions.
  • the securing device held by the carrier 15 essentially consists of the pneumatic cylinder 8, which forms the slide drive.
  • the piston rod 16 of this cylinder 8 moves the slide 4 and also the holder 17 with the switching piece 23.
  • the slide 4 is in the raised position in which the opening between the chamber parts 1 and 9 is closed in such a way that the operator is no longer involved can reach into the gap between the two chamber parts by hand, the switching piece 23 arrives at the cooler 17 in the immediate vicinity of the switching element 6. This triggers a signal which signals the sufficient blocking of the chamber space 5. Now the linear actuator for the lower part of the chamber can be switched on.
  • the lifting drive for moving the lower chamber part 1 can also be switched on with a time delay to the slide drive, that is to say the pneumatic cylinder 8. In this way, the working speed can be increased.
  • the circuit is such that, if the closing of the chamber space 5 is not signaled by the slide 4 with a certain time delay, the lifting drive the lower chamber part stops or switches.
  • the stroke drive 8 for the slide 4 is comparatively weakly dimensioned. This ensures that the slide comes to a standstill with obstacles without fear of injury.
  • This contact 27 interacts with the switch 26 which is mounted on the carrier 15.
  • the switch 26 is influenced by the magnetic strip 27 only when a sufficiently small distance between the elements 26 and 27 has been reached. If the switch 26 is not actuated, the machine cannot be switched on, that is to say either the lifting drive of the lower chamber part or the slide drive 8.
  • the switching arrangement of the elements 26 and 27 can also be replaced by other proximity switches or similar means.
  • the determination of the end position of the slide 4 by means of the switching piece 23 and the switching element 6 can also be replaced by other devices.
  • the front edge 21 of the slide 4 can also interact with a switch 22 which signals the closed position of the slide 4.
  • the film 10 or the two films are conveyed through the chamber in a manner known per se.
  • the foils are passed through conveyor chains and transport the foil through the chamber in one work cycle. Each closing movement of the chamber parts is preceded by the movement of the slide 4.
