Description

The invention relates to a container made of sheet metal, such as a bucket, hobbock or the like. With the features of the preamble of claim 1.

Such containers with clamping rings and clamping ring closures have long been known. So the German utility model 19 90 800 shows a clamping ring closure, in which the closure is formed in a straight line along its length, deviating from the general curvature of the clamping ring. This also applies to a profiled bridging piece which is fixedly attached to one circumferential end of the clamping ring and slidably receives the other circumferential end of the clamping ring. The movable elements of the closure are hinged to the parts so that they are movable in a plane that is perpendicular to the plane of the clamping ring. The bridging piece has a locking bracket which engages in a window at the free end of the actuating lever of the closure in the closed position in order to prevent the lever from pivoting in the direction of the open position. Clamping ring closures are also known, in which the movable elements of the closure are pivotable about axes which are perpendicular to the plane of the clamping ring, the elements being adapted to the circumferential curvature of the clamping ring so that they fit snugly on the outer surface of the clamping ring in the closed position of the container concerns (see German GM publications 72 10 719, 75 12 896 or 76 11 482). Both Clamping ring closures according to the first two utility models mentioned are the circumferential ends of the clamping ring neither in the open position nor in the closed position nor in any position in between. In the closure according to the last-mentioned utility model, a profiled bridging piece is also present, in which both circumferential ends of the clamping ring are received and guided in each phase of the closing movement, the bridging piece being firmly connected to one circumferential end. In the area of its other end, the bridging piece has on one side a tab projecting over the longitudinal edge, which is folded around the longitudinal edge of the movable peripheral end of the clamping ring to form a guide. At this same end of the bridging piece, the pull tab is articulated, while the clamping lever is pivotally mounted at a distance from it on the clamping ring itself. In the closed position, the tensioning lever thus lies directly above the tensioning ring at a circumferential distance from the bridging piece receiving the circumferential ends of the tensioning ring. In this known closure, the peripheral ends of the clamping ring are guided and secured in the bridging piece. In many cases, however, this securing is not sufficient when the edge of such a container is subjected to high loads due to the action of external forces in order to rule out lateral deflection of the circumferential ends of the clamping ring or deformation of the bridging piece. In addition, the semicircular profile of the clamping ring and bridging piece does not counter the possible high stresses of the clamping ring closure with a sufficiently high resistance to deformation.

It is an object of the invention to avoid the disadvantages shown and to develop a clamping ring closure with the features of the preamble of claim 1 in such a way that it is better ensured than before that the clamping ring in Every phase of the closing or opening process and even with strong external stresses maintains its circular shape and the clamping ring and closure have a high resistance to deformation and high strength against the action of external forces and the circumferential ends of the clamping ring in the closure area are reliably protected and, like the closure itself, are more resistant to external influences are.

This object is achieved by the teaching of claim 1.

Due to this design, the edge flange of the cover is initially given a correspondingly increased inherent strength by the edge curl. Above all, however, this edge curl forms a stable abutment for the clamping ring, which, in relation to a horizontal plane, essentially coalesces the adjacent edges of the container body and lid under high flank pressure in the radial direction inwards and against the fuselage wall stiffened by the press-in cover from the inside of the container presses. This results in a high frictional engagement between the parts in the radial direction. In addition, the geometry of the lid edge and the container edge fills the interior of the clamping ring with particularly high stiffening, so that the closure has a high level of dimensional stability and a high resistance to deformation, and thus also large external loads without the risk of damage or loosening of the clamping ring or resist leakage of the connection.

The closure area becomes particularly stable when the rolled edge is designed according to the teaching of claim 2.

The special cross-sectional shape of the clamping ring is of particular importance for the stability of the connection.

The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of schematic drawings using an exemplary embodiment.

Show it:
  • Figure 1 in detail and in vertical section, the edge region of a container according to the invention and
  • Figure 2 in a similar representation, but on a smaller scale, the edge region of the associated cover.

The parts of the container are made of sheet metal. The container 1 has a fuselage 12, the edge region of which is rolled outward in a spiral shape to form a rolled edge 13, the spiral regions of which lie firmly against one another under flank pressure and firmly abut against the fuselage wall 12 in the transition region. The free edge 14 of the spiral extends a predetermined length 15 beyond the horizontal central plane 16 of the rolled edge 13.

The lid 2 has an arbitrarily shaped lid mirror 3, which merges via a shoulder 10 into a core wall 4, which engages in the cylindrical body 12 when the container is closed with friction. The core wall 4 is adjoined by a U-shaped edge flange 5 which is open at the bottom and whose upper region 6 is curved in a circular arc and merges into a cylindrical leg 7 on the outside. The edge region of the leg 7 is shaped outwards into an edge curl 8.

A sealing ring, for example an O-ring 11, is inserted in the edge flange of the cover 2, as shown in FIG.

The lid is pressed so far into the container body when the container is closed that on the one hand the sealing ring 11 almost completely fills the space between the rolled edge 13 and the edge flange 5, as shown in FIG. 1, and that the lower edge 9 of the edge curl 8 or 17 of the rolled edge 13 lie in a common plane 18 running perpendicular to the container axis.

In the preferred embodiment, the diameter of the edge curl 8 is significantly smaller than the diameter of the rolled edge. The curl is preferably only half as large or even smaller than the rolled edge 13. Both come to lie next to one another in the radial direction in the closed position, the leg 7 in the closed position being pressed against the outer circumference of the rolled edge 13 or pressed against it becomes.

A clamping ring 19 is used for this purpose. In the preferred embodiment, this has an approximately trapezoidal profile. Its lower leg 20 runs tangentially to the lower regions 9 and 17 of the edge curl 8 or the rolled edge 13 and lies against these parts with flank pressure. From the lower leg 20, the profile of the clamping ring 19 curves tightly under flank pressure around the edge curl 8, as shown at 21 or over a partial circumference of the arcuate part 6 of the edge flange 6, as shown at 23. Here, too, the clamping ring lies against the edge flange 5 under flank pressure. Both curved regions 21 and 23 are connected to one another by a straight profile section 22. From the curved region 23, the upper leg 24 of the clamping ring extends radially inward and slightly inclined upward and in the preferred embodiment over the core wall 4, so that the free edge 25 of the leg 24 is closer to the container axis than the core wall 4. Die free edge of the lower leg 22 is at 26 - possibly under the deformation shown - pressed against the fuselage wall 12.

The trapezoidal shape of the clamping ring provides the clamping ring with a high level of dimensional stability. This is considerably enhanced by the profile of the edge flange 5 and the rolled edge 13, both in the axial direction and in the radial direction. The total cross section of the connection area thus has a very high resistance to deformation, so that the new container can safely absorb high external loads caused by falling or impact, without the connection area being deformed or damaged and without the risk that the clamping ring 19 detaches from the connection area .
