Abstract

The two component container has an insert small container located in the top of the main container and with the cover secured by an external clamping ring (5). The edges of the small container and the cover are rolled over to form grip lips (10,11) for the L-shaped clamping ring to be secured. The L-shape is rolled into a C-shape to grip the lipped edges and the ends of the strip forming the ring are linked by tags. The small container sits in a shaped top of the main container and is secured by a similar outer clamping ring. The clamping rings are released by removing the tags allowing the components to be cleaned and recycled.

Description

The present invention relates to a packaging for two-component products with the features of the preamble of claim 1.

A packaging for two-component products is known from DE-A-34 07 783. In this packaging, the basic container is used, for example, to hold a component of a paint, while the additional component, for example a low-viscosity hardener, which is to be filled into the basic container, is accommodated in the cover insert. A suitable pouring opening is provided in the upper cover section and is closed by a cover.

In the known packaging, according to a first alternative, the lower and upper cover sections can be soldered to one another in the area of their edge surfaces. According to a second alternative, they can also be connected to one another and simultaneously to the basic container via a clamping ring. When the lid insert formed in this way is inserted into the basic container, the lower lid section becomes of the lid insert in the base container so that its edge surface comes into contact with the ripened edge surface of the base container. In order to achieve a sealed system, a corresponding sealing ring is provided in the area of the edge surface of the lower cover section, so that the basic container is sealed airtight in this way. In order to further improve the press-in closure formed in this way for the basic container, a pressure element is applied to the edge surfaces of the lid insert and the basic container with the aid of a securing element, for example a clamping ring, so that the lid insert and basic container are connected to form a transport-safe packaging unit.

If, as mentioned, the two lid sections of the lid insert are soldered to one another in the known packaging, that is to say insolubly connected to one another, this has the disadvantage that the user can no longer remove remaining amounts therein after pouring out the filling material from the lid insert. If the filling material is a substance which is hazardous to health, for example the low-viscosity hardener mentioned, problems arise with regard to the disposal of the lid inserts which are still contaminated with filling material.

A packaging for two-component products with the features of the preamble of claim 1 is known from DE-U-92 16 003. This publication also relates to the principle in which a clamping ring holds two sections of a lid together and simultaneously connects the lid insert to the basic container. No separate ring is used to connect the two lid sections together. In this embodiment, the upper lid portion is intentionally arranged to be detachable from the lower lid portion.

The upper lid section has no special filling opening, but is removed from the lower lid section for filling the corresponding liquid. To remove the liquid from the lid insert, the upper lid section is removed, after which the lower lid section with the liquid contained therein is removed from the container and the liquid is emptied into the container. Residual liquid adhering to the lid section can then simply be applied using a spatula or the like. be removed.

US-A-1 669 511 relates to a solution which corresponds to the second alternative of DE-A-34 07 783, i.e. a single ring holds the lid sections together and connects the lid insert to the basic container.

US-A-1 866 194 relates to the basic principle of closing a container with a lid via a clamping ring. This is not about the special closing of two lid sections of a lid insert.

The invention has for its object to provide a packaging of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1, in which the lid insert can be easily removed to remove the rest Ingredients this has a tight and secure closure.

This object is achieved in a package with the features of the preamble of claim 1 by the characterizing features of claim 1.

In the solution according to the invention, the lower and upper cover sections are therefore neither inseparable nor not connected to one another at all, but they can be detached from one another, for example after the filling material has been consumed, by separating the ring holding the cover sections together. It is essential here that this ring forms a solid unit with the two cover sections in order to prevent the ring from being released unintentionally. It is also important that the ring is integrated in the lid insert so that it does not hinder or even make impossible the attachment of a securing element for the lid insert and associated basic container, namely a clamping ring. The ring should also be able to be separated quickly and easily by the user, if necessary, in order to enable the lid insert to be opened quickly.

The ring covers the two edge surfaces of the cover sections on the end face or from the outside, and thus prevents foreign objects from entering laterally between the cover halves. On the other hand, the ring is fixed to the edge surfaces of the cover sections, so that a firm and secure closure is achieved. "Fixing" means at least "clamping", this clamping effect being achieved by deforming the ring in the area of the edge surfaces. Additional fastening measures can be provided, but are not preferred because of the additional effort involved and the difficulty in detaching the lid sections from one another.

In the solution according to the invention, in which the edge surfaces of the upper and lower cover sections are facing down, i.e. are rolled in the same direction, the ring is only rolled on one side and engages under the rolled edge surface of the lower cover section, while the flat edge surface of the upper cover section preferably engages with a flat bent ring section. For this purpose, an embodiment has proven to be particularly suitable in which the ring is L-shaped from the start and is rolled up with its horizontal leg in such a way that it engages behind the rolled-up edge surface of the lower cover section, while the vertical leg on the flat edge surface of the upper lid section is bent.

In order to achieve a particularly good seal between the two cover sections, a seal, for example a sealing ring, is arranged between the edge surfaces of the upper and lower cover sections.

The ring provided for closing the two cover sections is preferably one in an L-shape as mentioned above. However, this does not rule out that U-shaped or I-shaped rings can also be used, and depending on the shape of the ring, more or fewer deformation steps are required to fix the ring on the edge surfaces of the two cover sections, ie by rolling, flanging etc. By fixing the ring should be integrated into the lid insert, ie form a solid unit with it, on the one hand to create a tight and tight closure and on the other hand the possibility of securing the lid insert and basic container.

The ring used according to the invention is preferably open from the start and has a nose for closing in one end region which is guided and bent through an opening in the other end region. In this state, the ring, which has an L-shape, for example, is pushed from below onto the abutting edge surfaces of the two cover sections. To fix the ring, the upper part of the vertical ring leg is then bent onto the flat edge surface of the upper cover section, while the horizontal ring leg is rolled over the rolling of the edge surface of the lower cover section, so that it engages behind this roll-on fit.

The ring preferably has an end tab for tearing the ring connection. This end plate can be gripped with a tool, for example pliers, and pulled outwards, as a result of which both the nose can be released from the opening and the entire ring can be released from its press fit.

As already mentioned, the base container and the lid insert are connected to each other via a clamping ring as an additional securing device rolled over the peripheral surface of the basic container. Clamping rings of this type are known and are approximately C-shaped in section, the two horizontal legs of the C reaching over the upper bent flat section of the ring and the underside of the rolling of the basic container.

In order to seal the connection between the push-in cover and the base container particularly well, a seal is preferably provided on the edge surface of the lower cover section for contact with the edge surface of the base container. Such a seal is known per se. It is worth mentioning that the ring provided according to the invention for connecting the two cover sections in no way hinders the arrangement of such a seal.

While in the prior art cited at the beginning, the upper cover section is arched upward, in a special embodiment of the present invention the upper cover section has a central flat area and a second wall area extending upward therefrom and merging into the edge surface, which in the closed state of the lid insert on the side wall portion of the lower lid portion from the inside. This embodiment of the upper cover section has the special advantage that a double side wall section of the cover insert is achieved, in particular in the region in which the ring for closing the cover insert is attached. This stiffening effect prevents the corresponding side wall area from being pressed in or buckling out before, during and after the ring is attached.

The packaging shown in FIG. 1 for two-component products consists of a basic container 1 and a cover insert 13 which can be inserted therein. The cover insert 13 can be inserted into the basic container 1 in such a way that it is sealed airtight becomes. It consists of an upper cover section 4 and a lower cover section 3, which are arranged opposite one another with their edge surfaces and form a cavity between them which is suitable for receiving one component of the two-component product. The lower cover section 3 has essentially a bowl-shaped shape with a central, essentially flat middle part and a conical edge part. At the top of the conical edge part of the lower cover section 3 there is an essentially cylindrical edge part which, when the cover insert is pressed into the base container, bears against the inner surface of the base container shell under tension.

When the lid insert 13 is pressed into the basic container 1, a sealing ring (not shown), which is arranged in the rolled-up edge region of the lower cover section 3, is pressed against the upper side of the rolled-up edge surface 16 of the basic container. In this way, the basic container is sealed airtight. The edge surface of the lower cover section 3 is formed by an approximately horizontally running ring flange, which in the rolled, i.e. rolled down towards the container axis, edge section 10 merges. A sealing ring 20 and a horizontal ring flange 11 of the upper cover section 4 lie on this ring flange. This horizontal ring flange goes into a rolled, i.e. rolled downwards and towards the container axis, edge section 11 of the upper lid section. These two edge sections 10 and 11 are connected to one another via a locking ring 5. Details of the locking ring 5 and the corresponding connection are explained in connection with FIGS. 2 to 6.

As can also be seen from FIG. 1, the basic container has an upper bead 14 and a on its hull lower double bead 15. The base 2 of the basic container is folded (triple) and sealed accordingly. To carry the basic container, it has two lateral ball eyelets 8, in which a carrying handle 9 is fastened.

The upper cover section 4 has a pouring opening in the center, which can be closed by a suitable plastic cover 6. In addition, the upper cover section 4 also has a central, flat area in which the pouring opening is located, and a side wall area 12 extending upward therefrom and merging into the horizontal ring flange is present.

An additional securing of the cover insert 13 in the basic container 1 is a clamping ring 7 which engages over the locking ring 5 of the cover insert and the rolled-up edge area 16 of the basic container.

The locking ring 5 for the lid insert is designed as an open ring and has an L-shaped section, as shown in FIG. In order to close the ring, a protruding nose 26 is provided in one end region of the ring, while there is a corresponding opening 18 in the other end region of the ring. FIG. 3 shows how the nose 26 is pushed through the corresponding opening 18 to close the ring and then bent according to FIG. 4.

At one end of the ring 5 there is a tab 17 which, after closing the ring (shown in Figure 4) with pliers u. Like. Is graspable to tear open the ring and in this way to open the lid insert.

In the state shown in FIG. 5, the locking ring 5 is pushed from below onto the two rolled-up edge sections 10 and 11 of the lower and upper cover section, so that it covers them from the outside. Here, the horizontal leg 19 of the ring engages under the rolled section 10 of the lower lid section (it is pointed out that the sealing ring provided for the basic container in the throat area adjacent to the rolled section 10 is not shown). The applied locking ring 5 is then bent in the upper region of its vertical leg, so that there is the approximately horizontal section 21 which comes to rest on the horizontal ring flange of the upper cover section. The L-shaped leg 19 of the ring 5 is rolled on and engages behind the rolled section 10 of the lower cover section. The ring is then in a press fit on the corresponding edge surfaces of the two cover sections and closes them.

The locking ring designed according to the invention for the lid insert preferably consists of tinplate. A sheet thickness of 0.42 mm has proven to be particularly suitable. Lid insert and basic container are also preferably made of tinplate. The tension ring consists of a suitable steel band. The heights H and H1 shown in FIG. 1 are 214 and 132 mm, and the diameter of the basic container is 221 mm. The basic container has a content of 12 l, while the lid insert has a content of 2.6 l.

Claims (6)

1. A packing for two-component products comprising a basic container (1) and a lid insert (13) insertable into the basic container (1) and closing the same in an air-tight manner, said lid insert (13) having an upper and a lower lid portion (4, 3) which are disposed one upon the other with their edge surfaces (10, 11) such that the lid portions (3, 4) form a common cavity, wherein the basic container (1) and the lid insert (13) are connected to one another by means of a tension ring (7) which engages over a curled edge surface (16) of the basic container (1), the edge surfaces (10, 11) of the upper and lower lid portions (3, 4) are curled downwardly, respectively, and a sealing is disposed between the edge surfaces (10, 11) of the lower and upper lid portions (3, 4), characterized in that the edge surface (10) of the lower lid portion (3) is curled towards the container axis, the lower and upper lid portions (3, 4) are removably connected to one another by means of a separable ring (5) covering the edge surfaces (10, 11) of the lower and upper lid portions from outside and fixed to the same, said ring being curled in such a manner that it engages behind the curled edge surface (10) of the lower lid portion (3), the tension ring (7) engages over the ring (5), and the upper lid portion (4) has a pouring aperture in its center.
2. The packing according to claim 1, characterized in that the ring (5) is originally L-shaped in section and will be curled with its horizontal leg (19) in such a manner that it engages behind the curled edge surface (10) of the lower lid portion (3) while the vertical leg will be bent onto the plane edge surface (11) of the upper lid portion (4).
3. The packing according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the ring (5), for closing, has a lug (16) in one end portion which passes through an aperture (18) in the other end portion and is bent over.
4. The packing according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the ring (5) has an end tongue (17) for tearing the ring connection.

The packing according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the upper lid portion (4) includes a central plane area and a sidewall area (12) extending from the central area upwardly and merging into the edge surface, said sidewall area sitting close to the sidewall area of the lower lid portion (3) from the inside in the closed condition of the lid insert (13).
6. The packing according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a sealing for sitting close to the edge surface (16) of the basic container (1) is provided at the edge surface of the lower lid portion (3).
