Definitions

  • the invention relates to a start-up strand provided with a start-up head for continuous casting plants with an at least partially curved strand guide, several rows of contact members being fastened over a part of their length on a flexible metal band and free projections of contact members of different rows overlapping in the longitudinal direction of the start-up strand.
  • a plurality of rows of contact members are arranged in a staggered division on a flexible sheet metal.
  • the contact members are trapezoidal or beveled to form a bend-free overlap area and are attached to the sheet metal surface with their smaller area.
  • This approach strand has the following disadvantages:
  • the sheet metal can only be freely bent on the narrow overlap areas, which leads to notch stresses in these areas. Therefore, the start-up line is not suitable for line guides with a small arc radius.
  • Each time the driven rollers of the strand guide come into contact with an overlap area a tilting moment arises due to the smaller attachment surfaces of the contact members, as a result of which their attachment points are stressed too much.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a simple, reliable start-up line, particularly for continuous casting machines is suitable for thin steel strips with a small radius of curvature of the strand guide.
  • tilting moments in contact members and notch stresses in the flexible belt should be avoided.
  • the object of the invention is alternatively achieved in that the starting strand consists of a plurality of flexible sheet metal strips arranged next to one another at a distance, which are connected by transverse webs of contact members, and in that longitudinal webs with free projections of the contact members are located in the spacing area of the sheet metal strips.
  • the starting strands according to the invention are inexpensive to manufacture and require little maintenance.
  • the operational safety is increased by avoiding tilting moments and notch stresses.
  • the start-up strand 1 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 consists of a flexible sheet metal 2, preferably made of spring steel, at one end of which a start-up head 3 is fastened for closing a continuous casting mold and for forming a connection with the casting strand.
  • the plate 2 is fastened in a slot 3a of the start head.
  • the flexible sheet metal 2 there are four rows of recesses 4, 5, 6, 7 arranged in the longitudinal direction, each of which two adjacent rows of the recesses 4, 5 and 6, 7 have a mutually offset division.
  • rectangular contact members 8 are fastened with rivets 9 on each side of the sheet, which protrude with projections 10 over the recesses 4, 5, 6, 7, where they are supported against each other by intermediate plates 11.
  • the offset attachment of the contact members 8 leads to the overlap of their projections 10, so that the starting strand 1 forms a gapless and therefore bumpless contact path for the strand guide rollers as it passes through the strand guide of the continuous casting installation.
  • the transition to the starting head 3 is achieved by projections 10a arranged thereon.
  • the contact-free guidance of the projections 10, 10a within the recesses 4, 5, 6, 7 enables the starting strand 1 to be freely adapted even within a strand guide with a small size Radius of curvature.
  • the new start strand 1 can also be used in a continuous caster according to the strand bending system.
  • the starting strand 12 shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 consists of five flexible sheet metal strips 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 arranged next to one another at a distance, preferably made of spring steel. The metal strips are inserted and fixed at one end in a slot 18a of a start head 18.
  • the metal strips 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 are connected on each side by the crossbars 19a, 20a of double cross-shaped contact members 19, 20 by rivets 21.
  • the longitudinal webs 19b, 20b of the contact members 19, 20 extend in the spacing areas 22 and 23 of the metal strips 13-17.
  • the longitudinal webs 19b, 20b of successive contact members 19, 20 overlap in alternating spacing areas 22, 23.
  • intermediate plates 24 are arranged between the longitudinal webs 19b, 20b of opposing contact members 19, 20, intermediate plates 24 are arranged.
  • the low-cost start-up strand 12 thus created can be conveyed evenly and smoothly by the strand guide rollers, a good adaptation to small radii of curvature of the strand guide or radius of curvature being possible.
