Abstract

Straight connector (1) having a flat elongate body whose cross-section is matched to the cross-section (17, 18) of the hollow space of the two spacer profiles (4, 5) to be connected to one another linearly and which consists of two parts, of which the one part can be inserted into the one spacer profile (4) and the other part into the other spacer profile (5), and whose surfaces are provided with at least two spring elements (6, 7) which can be brought into frictional contact with the inner walls of the spacer profiles. During insertion of the straight connector into the hollow space (17, 18) of the respective spacer profile (4, 5), the spring elements (6, 7) are on the one hand pressed elastically into the surface of the straight connector by the front ends (15, 16) of said spacer profiles and on the other hand serve with their front ends as insertion stop for that spacer profile (4, 5) which butts against the tongue of the relevant spring element (6, 7) which rises above the surface. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a straight connector for hollow spacing profiles of a multi-pane insulating glass, with a flat, elongated body, the cross section of which is adapted to the cavity cross section of the two spacing profiles to be connected in a straight line and which consists of two parts, one of which is part of the one spacing profile and the other part can be inserted into the other spacer profile and the surfaces of which are provided with at least two spring bodies which can be brought into frictional contact with the inner walls of the spacer profiles and which form tongues which protrude from the surface and which at their rear, in the direction of the opposite ends of the straight connector end portions pointing smoothly into the surface and with their front end portions pointing towards the center of the straight connector rise above the surface and when the straight connector is inserted into the cavity of the respective spacing profile from the front Ends of these spacing profiles can be pressed elastically into the surface of the straight connector.

In the known straight connector of this type (DE-A-3236110), the tongues protruding from its surface only have the task of following the straight connector to ensure the insertion into the hollow spacer profiles to be connected to one another in the profile cavity against slipping by transmitting frictional forces to the inner walls of the spacer profiles. However, the tongues rise above the surface of the straight connector before insertion so that the tongue which is bent open in the insertion direction can be grasped by the front end of the spacing profile into which the tongue opposite it is inserted if the insertion takes place too far. In order to prevent the straight connector from being pushed too far into the respective spacing profile and thus to prevent the tongue from being destroyed, the straight connector is provided with a stop on the surface opposite the tongues, which is delimited by two run-on bevels which lift out of the surface of the straight connector. However, this means that the inner walls of the spacer profiles do not lie smoothly on the surface of the straight connector, since they have to approach the run-up slopes before their two ends meet, as a result of which the connector is firmly seated due to a lack of frictional force transmission in the area mentioned between the hollow profile inner wall and the straight connector surface leaves something to be desired when the straight connector is installed.

A straight connector is also known (DE-OS 2809822), in which arc-shaped, outwardly curved strips of material are used as the spring body, which extend in the longitudinal direction of the body of the straight connector and are inseparably connected at both ends to the sides of the body. So that the straight connector can only be inserted into the profile cavity to approximately half the length of the body, a stop is attached to the body, which is located in the middle of the body length and is designed as a rib extending around its circumference which can be brought into contact with the opposite end faces of the spacer profiles. This rib has the disadvantage that it keeps the two end faces of the hollow spacer profiles at a distance in the installed state of the straight connector and thus impairs the tightness of the profile cavity. It also complicates the construction of the straight connector and the injection molding tool required for this.

The object of the invention is therefore not only to simplify the straight connector of the type mentioned, but to ensure by means other than additional stop ribs or run-up slopes that the insertion into the mutually opposite and interconnectable spacer profiles is only possible up to a certain length.

This is achieved according to the invention in that the ends of the end sections of the straight connector rise above the surface to an extent which corresponds approximately to the wall thickness of the spacer profiles at least at their front, mutually facing front ends, and in that the front ends of the end sections act as insertion stops for the latter Serve spacer profile that abuts the tongue of the spring body in question, which rises above the surface.

This construction combines the spring system of the straight connector with the stop system, since each of the at least two springs serves as a stop at the same time, by preventing the straight connector from being inserted too far when inserted into the cavity of the respective spacing profile or by being in contact with one End protrudes from the surface of the straight connector, allows the spacing profile advancing against it to strike at its front end against it.

Advantageous embodiments of the invention are characterized in the subclaims.

The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the embodiment shown in the drawing. The drawing shows:
Fig. 1
2 shows a longitudinally sectioned side view of the straight connector according to the invention,
Fig. 2
a plan view of the straight connector of Fig. 1, and
Fig. 3
a longitudinally sectioned side view similar to that of Fig. 1, wherein on both sides a portion of the spacing profiles also longitudinally sectioned, is shown in the state fully or partially pushed onto the straight connector.

The straight connector 1 shown in Fig. 1 consists of a known plastic material and has a rectangular Cross-section, which is otherwise adapted to the cavity profile of the spacer profiles 4, 5 to be connected to one another, which are partially shown in FIG. 3 and are to be connected to one another by the straight connector.

The straight connector consists of two parts 2, 3, one part 2 of which can be inserted into one spacer profile 4 and the other part 3 into the other spacer profile 5. The surface 8 of the straight connector, which corresponds to its upper side in the embodiment shown, has two spring bodies 6, 7 which are designed as stop springs and form protruding tongues from the surface 8, which at their rear ends, in the direction of the opposite ends 11, 12 of the straight end sections 9, 10 merge smoothly into the surface 8 and with their front end sections 13, 14 pointing towards the center of the straight connector rise above the surface 8. The latter occurs to an extent that corresponds approximately to the wall thickness of the spacer profiles 4, 5 at least at their front, mutually facing front ends 15, 16.

Die Federkörper 6, 7 werden, wie aus der Darstellung von Fig. 3 hervorgeht, beim Einschieben des Geradverbinders in den Hohlraum 17, 18 des jeweiligen Abstandsprofils 4, 5 von den vorderen Enden 15, 16 dieser Abstandsprofile einerseits in die Oberfläche des Geradverbinders 8 elastisch hineingedrückt und dienen andererseits mit ihren vorderen Enden 13, 14 als Einschubanschlag für dasjenige Abstandsprofil 4, 5, das gegen die sich über die Oberfläche 8 erhebende Zunge des betreffenden Federkörpers 6, 7 stößt.3, when the straight connector is inserted into the cavity 17, 18 of the respective spacer profile 4, 5 from the front ends 15, 16 of these spacer profiles, on the one hand, they become elastic in the surface of the straight connector 8 pressed in and, on the other hand, serve with their front ends 13, 14 as an insertion stop for the spacer profile 4, 5 which abuts against the tongue 8 of the spring body 6, 7 rising above the surface 8.

In this way, the spring bodies 6, 7 fulfill a double function, namely that of a locking body, in that they act with the inner walls of the spacer profiles 4, 5 come into frictional contact, as can be seen in the illustration of FIG. 3 on the right, and on the other hand, with their front end sections 13, 14 form a stop for the front ends 15, 16 of the spacer profiles against which these ends abut, when the spacer profiles are pushed onto the straight connector or it is pushed into the cavity 17, 18 thereof. This stop function is also evident from FIG. 3 for the right spacing profile 4.

The spring bodies 6, 7 are of the same length and width and the same distance from the opposite ends 11, 12 of the straight connector 1. Their front ends 13, 14, which face each other, as can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2, have a distance of only about 1 mm.

Hier dient dann das vordere Ende 15 des Abstandsprofils 4 selbst als Anschlag für das aufzuschiebende linke Abstandsprofil 5.Below the spring bodies 6, 7 there is a recess 19 in the surface 8, which serves to receive the spring bodies in the pushed-on state of the spacer profiles 4, 5. This state is realized in FIG. 3 with the spacer profile 4 pushed on, since here the spring body 6 is pressed into the cavity 19 and thus extends parallel to the surface 8. In this way, based on the drawing figures, the left spring body 7 serves as a stop for the right distance profile 4 and thus prevents the straight connector from being pushed too far into the cavity 17 of this distance profile, while the right spring body 6 serves as a stop for the left distance profile 5 serves, thus prevents the straight connector from being inserted too far into the cavity 18 of this profile. Of course, this spacing function only occurs on one side because - if one starts from the situation shown in FIG. 3 - the spacing profile 5 to be pushed onto the straight connector 1 from the left can no longer abut the spring body 6, because this is already in the surface 8 or the cavity 19 of this Surface of the right-hand spacer 4 is pressed. Here the front end 15 of the spacer profile 4 itself then serves as a stop for the left spacer profile 5 to be pushed on.

It goes without saying that instead of only two spring bodies 6, 7, a plurality of such bodies can be arranged on the surface of the straight connector, although this is not shown in the drawing. For example, in the case of a straight connector with a rectangular cross section, spring bodies of the type described can sit on all four sides of this rectangle, the width of which would then be adapted to the dimensions of the rectangular sides.
