Description

The invention relates to a plastic connector for connecting hollow spacer profiles A, B and hollow rungs profiles of a Mehrscheibenisolierglases, with a flat, elongated body, of which one end in the one spacer profile A and the other end in the other spacer profile B can be inserted and whose surface is provided with at least one arranged approximately in the middle of the connector stop member which abuts when inserting the connector into the space to be joined spacer profiles on the profile end faces C and D, wherein the elongated body has a double-T-section, the by far parallel horizontal transverse webs are connected to each other by at least one vertical central web and in the installed state of the connector at least partially contact the profile inner wall surfaces lying opposite them.

Connector of this type, which are known for example from EP 0681 083, and whose cross-sectional shape is adapted to the cross section of the hollow spacer profiles to be joined, are usually designed so that they hold together in the assembled state with the hollow profiles in the joint area. In some cases, however, the cohesion of the hollow sections requirements are made, which may not be met by the known connectors, since the latter achieve cohesion only by existing between the surfaces of the connector and the Profilinnenwandoberflächen friction forces.

Therefore, there is a desire to take for the safe and permanent cohesion of the hollow profiles after the assembly with the help of connectors still further precautions, especially if the hollow sections are made of metal as usual.

It has therefore been proposed to weld such hollow profiles with their frontal abutment surfaces in the connection area. In these cases, however, the plastic connector should not be damaged by the action of heat, resulting in the invention task to form the connector so that such damage is avoided, but at the same time neither obstructs the welding nor the formation of the desired weld or generally the desired weld disadvantageous to be influenced.

For this purpose, the invention proposes that at least one of the two transverse webs in the middle of its length has a recess which makes visible the surface of the spacer profiles in the connection state in the region of their profile end faces having ends and the thermal welding of these ends without melting of the plastic of the connector allows.

The proposed recess is designed in any case so that the strength of the connector, which is indeed directly dependent on its cross-sectional shape, is not impaired so that it can no longer fulfill its connection task. As a rule, therefore, only one crosspiece is opened in the connection area, so that the underlying metal material surfaces - usually the distance profiles made of aluminum - the abutting hollow profiles are visible and thus in this area a weld or a weld can be set, the the butt joint of the profiled faces closes where the desiccant can not fall out.

Further advantageous embodiments are characterized in the subclaims.

The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to the following drawing, which illustrates a connector by way of example. In the drawing show:

The connector 1 illustrated by way of example in FIGS. 1-4 has a flat, elongated body, of which one end 11 is inserted into the schematically indicated one spacer profile A and the other end 12 into the other spacer profile B, which is likewise schematically illustrated, around this two spacer profiles, also called hollow sections to connect together before laterally on the spacer profiles, as usual, the glass panes of a multi-pane insulating glass are placed.

The connector has the known double-T-section, which is provided with an upper horizontal cross bar 2 and a lower horizontal crossbar 3, which differ in this embodiment in adaptation to the cross section of the spacer profiles in terms of their width and by a vertical or almost vertical central web 5 are connected to each other, which is provided for material saving reasons, but also for reasons of better desiccant flow in a conventional manner with openings 13 and 14.

On the surface 17 of the lower cross bar 3 is located approximately in the middle of the length of the connector, a central stop element 8 in the form of two laterally deflected stop tongues 6, 7, of which a stop tongue 6 with its front or stop surface 9 to one end 11 of Connector and the other stop tongue 7 are directed with its end face 10 to the other end 12 of the connector, so that when pushing the spacer profiles A and B whose end faces C and D abut against the end faces 9 and 10 and thereby prevent the connector to far into the one spacer profile is inserted. Differently shaped or arranged stop elements are also usable here. As soon as this plug connection is made, the profile end faces C and D also touch each other at least partially in this way.

Thus, the connector is stuck in the cavities of the spacer profiles A and B, it is equipped in a conventional manner on its surfaces with transverse ribs 15 and 16, which, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, transverse to the insertion and thus across the width extend the connector, in terms of the transverse ribs 15 on the horizontal surface of the connector as well as the much shorter ribs 16 on the two narrower side surfaces of the lower crossbar 3. The frictional forces developed by these ribs together with the surfaces of the hollow profile spaces touching them the connector usually in the said cavities and thus the hollow sections after assembly in the assembly position without a gap between the end faces C and D opens.

However, in order to further improve this cohesion and to ensure even under extreme conditions, the metal hollow sections A and B can be welded together in the connection area without the built-in connector, which consists of plastic, melts. For this purpose, the upper crossbar 2 approximately in the middle of the length of the connector in its surface 18 has a recess 4, which hineinerstreckt into the vertical central web 5, however, is such that it does not cross section of the connector in this area weakens so much that its strength is impaired too much. This recess 4 can be visible in the installed state of the connector with their profile end faces C and D abutting spacing profiles A and B, so that a welding of these profiles can be done in the joint area, i. so on one of its four surfaces of its rectangular profile. Thus, due to its size and shape, the recess 4 prevents the plastic material of the connector from being fused or fused during welding.

Instead of a single recess 4, it is also possible to use a plurality of identical or different recesses, if necessary, wherein in principle it is also possible not to limit the recess or recesses to a surface of the spacer profiles to be connected, but also to arrange them on further surfaces or on these expand.
