Abstract

An offset printing machine has a half-tone roller (3) mounted above a trough from which ink is supplied by an inking roller. The ink trough is mounted on a support (9) which also supports two wiper blades (11,12). Each blade (11,12) is mounted loosely in a slot (15) formed in the support (9). The width of the slot exceeds the thickness of the blade by 0.03 to 0.04mm. The slot extends over the entire length of the blade support. When printing ink with a high viscosity is used, the friction between the wiper blades and the roller generates heat which causes the blades to expand. The clearance between blade and slot accommodates this expansion.

Description

The invention relates to a doctor device with at least one doctor blade that can be received on a doctor holder.

In the known arrangements of this type, the doctor blade is firmly clamped. The consequence of such clamping is that the clamped area of the doctor blade, which heats up not inconsiderably during operation, cannot expand laterally. There is therefore a ripple in the area of the doctor blade which is not clamped and is in contact with the cylinder to be scraped off. In order to avoid inaccurate contact of the doctor blade with the cylinder to be doctored, it is necessary to apply the doctor blade with high force. However, this leads to rapid wear of the doctor blade, so that frequent readjustment and a frequent doctor blade change are necessary. The known arrangements therefore prove to be not user-friendly and economical enough. The above disadvantages are particularly evident when processing offset inks, because of the high Ink viscosity a very strong heating of the doctor blade is to be expected.

Proceeding from this, it is therefore the object of the present invention to improve a doctor device of the type mentioned at the outset with simple and inexpensive means in such a way that a gentle but nevertheless reliable mode of operation is ensured.

This object is achieved in that the doctor blade can be inserted loosely into an associated insertion slot of the doctor holder.

This ensures that the doctor blade or the doctor blades can expand laterally in the event of heating, so that a reliable contact of the doctor blade or the doctor blades on the cylinder to be doctored is achieved even with low contact force and therefore gentle operation. This is particularly advantageous where high-viscosity inks, such as offset inks, are processed, which can lead to excessive heating of the doctor blade or the doctor blades.

Appropriately, the inside width of the insertion slot, which preferably extends over the entire length of the doctor blade holder, can have an excess of about 3 / 100mm to 4 / 100mm compared to the thickness of the associated doctor blade. This measure results in a reliable doctor blade support despite the desired degree of freedom of expansion.

The insertion slot can advantageously be delimited by a bar that can be attached to the doctor holder provided with a step-shaped recess. This measure enables simple production of the insertion slot.

In the case of a chambered doctor blade with an ink receiving space delimited by two doctor blades and sealing jaws resting on their end faces, a further advantageous measure can be that the sealing jaws are arranged in a flexible manner in the longitudinal direction of the doctor blades, preferably being able to be pressed resiliently against the doctor blades. This ensures that in the event of expansion of the doctor blades, the sealing jaws can deflect, which also prevents ripple of the doctor blades in this case.

Further expedient further training and advantageous refinements of the superordinate measures are specified in the remaining subclaims.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing.

The drawing shows:
  • Figure 1 is a schematic representation of an offset short inking unit and
  • Figure 2 shows a section through a chambered doctor blade with two loosely arranged doctor blades.

The short inking unit on which FIG. 1 is based consists of a rubberized applicator roller 2 which interacts with a plate cylinder 1 and is supplied with ink by an anilox roller 3 and with dampening solution 4 by a dampening unit 4. The circumference of the anilox roller 3, which can have a ceramic cover, is provided with cups 5 indicated in an enlarged manner and webs 6 delimiting them. The cells 5 are filled with paint. The webs 6 are scraped off.

The ink supply to the anilox roller 3 and the scraping of the webs 6 take place by means of a chamber doctor blade designated as a whole in FIG. 1. As shown in FIG. 2, this comprises a bar-shaped doctor holder 9 which is accommodated on supports 8 fixed to the frame and on which two doctor blades 11, 12 which are offset with respect to one another in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller are accommodated. These limit an ink receiving chamber 13, which is supplied with offset ink by means of a pump 16. The doctor blade 11, which is at the rear in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller 3, acts as a preliminary doctor, which is covered by a discharge channel 14. The other doctor blade 12 acts as a closing doctor. In the exemplary embodiment shown, both doctor blades are arranged with a negative angle of attack.

The doctor blades 11, 12, which are subject to high heating due to the high viscosity of offset ink, are received loosely, ie without clamping, on the doctor holder 9. This is provided with squeegee blades 11, 12, each of which has insertion slots 15 that extend over its entire length. For this purpose, the doctor holder 9 is in the region of its flanks, each with a step-shaped Provide recess, which is closed by a bar 10 attached to the doctor holder 9 so that the groove-shaped insertion slot 15 results. The clear width of the insertion slots 15 has an excess of approximately 3 / 100mm to 4 / 100mm compared to the thickness of the doctor blade assigned in each case.

Doctor blades 11, 12 also extend over the entire length of the doctor holder 9. In the area of the end faces of the doctor holder 9, the ink-receiving chamber 3 is delimited by sealing jaws 43 resting on the circumference of the anilox roller 3 and on the end faces of the doctor blades 11, 12. These are formed by their side edges in corresponding, 46 provided on the doctor holder 9 guides 46 insertable plates. The clear width of the guides 46 has so much excess in the longitudinal direction of the doctor blades 11, 12 compared to the thickness of the sealing jaws 43 that a corresponding evasion of the sealing jaws 43 is possible in the event of an expansion of the doctor blades 11, 12. These are pressed resiliently onto the end faces of the doctor blades 11, 12. For this purpose, the sealing jaws 43 are gripped in the area of their abutment on the doctor blade end faces by finger-shaped abutments 44, which are resiliently supported in the longitudinal direction of the doctor blades 11, 12 on the doctor holder 9, as indicated at 45.
