Definitions
- An interesting technique for bringing cork articles into contact with the hydrogen peroxide solution consists in placing the articles in a basket with an openwork or porous wall, hanging the basket above the hydrogen peroxide solution containing a surfactant with high foaming power, then blowing air into the hydrogen peroxide solution so as to cause the formation of an upward flow of foam which reaches the items in the basket.
- the concentration of surfactant, the temperature of the solution and the flow rate of the blown air are adjusted so that, in stationary operating conditions, the flow of foam overflows the basket containing the cork articles, then breaks and falls back into the solution.
- This technique has the advantage of consuming less energy than the techniques already described for immersing or watering the articles to be treated. It also makes it unnecessary to use anti-foaming agents which are often necessary with other techniques.
