Abstract

The tube (1) for an atmospheric gas burner, with flame holes through its top surface (7), has gas delivered to its interior by a concentric supply tube (3). It has cooling rods (2) supported above the flame holes, parallel to the axis of the tubes. Three rods of steel or refractory ceramic material can be used, carried by a support (9) half-way along the tube, to cool the cores of the flames. A very wide variety of cooling elements is shown, and supports can be used at different positions on the tube. The rods can be located along a straight line, or can form an arc of a circle spaced from the tube, and different types of support are shown.

Description

The invention relates to an atmospheric gas burner with at least two elongated burner tubes arranged parallel to one another within a combustion chamber, the walls of which have mixture outlet openings on the top for a gas-air mixture supplied to these burner tubes, the top of these, preferably metal, burner tubes at least one Cooling rod, preferably made of ceramic material and essentially parallel to the axes of the burner tube and at a distance from the walls thereof, is assigned.

Such gas burners are known from US-A-4525141 and DE-U-8507804. In these known gas burners, cooling rods are mounted in two brackets associated with the two end regions of the burner tube, which are located within the longitudinal extension of the burner tube and are consequently disruptive in several respects because, in the event of burner maintenance, they have access to those in the top of the wall obstruct the mixture outlet openings arranged in the burner tubes. Because these brackets are located directly in the flame area of the burner, there is a risk that they will cause a build-up of heat in this flame area, which would result in increased pollutant emissions during burner operation. Finally, such brackets also make it difficult to replace cooling rods and can only be assembled and disassembled together with the burner tubes.

The object of the invention is to avoid these disadvantages by arranging the cooling rods in a fundamentally different manner.

According to the most important feature of the invention, each cooling rod is arranged to run at a distance between adjacent burner tubes above the common plane of the tops of these burner tubes.

As a result, although these cooling rods are located in the immediate vicinity of the flame area and are able to fully meet their purpose of extracting heat from this flame area, on the other hand they are largely independent of the burner tubes; their brackets can therefore be designed in any way, they do not hinder access to the mixture outlet openings in any way and when arranging these mixture outlet openings, no attention need be paid to holders of these cooling rods.

According to a preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, a plurality of cooling rods which are parallel to one another are at a uniform distance from the plane determined by the upper sides of the burner tubes.

The invention is explained below with reference to an embodiment shown in the single drawing figure. This drawing figure shows a cross section through two mutually adjacent, mutually parallel burner tubes 1 and the cooling rods 2 assigned to them.

In the context of the invention, the cheapest burner tubes 1 with a flat top 3 are used.

The cooling rods 2 are then provided with arrangement of several such parallel burner tubes 1 forming a burner grate 1 just above the common plane 5 of these top sides 3 at intervals 4, so that the individual burner tube 1 runs between two adjacent cooling rods 2. All cooling rods 2 are at the same height and run parallel to one another and to the burner tubes, with a uniform distance from the plane 5 determined by their top sides 3.
