Description

The invention is based on a pocket spring mattress with a plurality of connected, encapsulated coil springs, wherein a coil spring is arranged in a closed pocket made of fabric, plastic or the like, and the closed pockets are arranged in a direction as bands attached to one another and transversely to the direction of the Tapes are connected by gluing. The invention can be used in the most varied types of coil springs, for example in cylinder springs, barrel springs or also in waist springs. Such a pocket spring mattress is a spring core construction, i.e. a coherent structure made of encapsulated coil springs, which is a component for a complete mattress and which is correspondingly completed by upholstery and coverings as well as a cover.

A pocket spring mattress of the type described in the opening paragraph is known from EP-A-154076. Ribbons or rows of closed pockets are also formed, a coil spring being accommodated in each pocket. The tapes or rows are connected to one another transversely to the tape or row direction in that an adhesive is applied to a tangential line of the pocket or to the tangential lines of the pockets in one row and the pockets of the adjacent row at the contact line or the contact lines be pressed. A field arrangement of the individual pockets is thus possible, that is to say an arrangement in which the axes of the pockets or coil springs connected to one another are each arranged at right angles to one another. The adhesive can be applied in individual strips or even individual dots and connects the material of the pockets directly across the direction of the tapes among themselves. For this purpose, the pockets of adjacent rows must be pressed together and a certain setting time is required in order to harden the adhesive connection. However, the arrangement of the adhesive application is limited to a relatively small linear area, for example if two rows of pockets with encapsulated cylinder springs are kept pressed together. This area becomes even shorter in height when using barrel springs. There is then a reduced cohesion of the springs with one another and a comparatively low dimensional accuracy of the entire mattress. In addition, pressing the applied adhesive onto the pockets against one another is problematic because the material of the pockets sags between the support points on the turns of the helical spring or can be deformed into a recess.

The US-PS 2805429 shows a pocket spring mattress made of a variety of coherent, encapsulated barrel springs. In order to connect the bands or rows of barrel springs to one another in the transverse direction, it is proposed to use connecting threads which are passed in the transverse direction through the pockets of all the bands or rows. These threads are knotted together on the hanging ends on both sides of the pocket spring mattress. The threads are passed through the pockets of adjacent rows in such a way that a transition area is alternately passed between two pockets, while the connecting thread extends through the movement space of the helical spring immediately adjacent. It is already recognized as a disadvantage that needles, which guide the threads as they pass through the mattress, can break off when they come into contact with the coil springs, so that it is proposed to pull the threads through the pockets of all adjacent bands during the return stroke of the needles. In any case hinder the deployed Thread the free movement of the coil springs. On the other hand, continued movements of the coil springs lead to wear of the connecting threads, as a result of which cohesion in the transverse direction is lost.

The US-PS 3230558 shows such a pocket spring mattress with continuous connecting threads over the entire width of the mattress. Here, too, adjacent pockets are impaled on or penetrated by the respective continuous connecting thread.

The invention is based on the object, starting from a pocket spring mattress of the type described above, to improve the cohesion of the rows or strips of pockets transverse to the direction of the strips. The production should also be simplified and disadvantages excluded, which are due to the shape of the respective coil springs.

According to the invention, this is achieved in a pocket spring mattress of the type described above in that a connecting wall made of elastic material is provided parallel to the direction of the bands between two adjacent bands, and in that the pockets of the bands are indirectly glued to one another via a connecting wall. In contrast to direct bonding, such an indirect bonding can be carried out much more reliably because the connecting wall made of elastic material can be brought into contact with one another better and more intensively at the application points of the adhesive. In addition, by interposing the connecting walls made of the elastic material, it is possible to influence the desired properties of the mattress. The risk of fraying or snagging on the side of the spring in the event of spring breakage is also advantageously reduced because, on the other hand, the connecting walls again ensure that the coil springs cannot come into direct contact with one another transversely to the direction of the bands.

The connecting walls are expediently provided continuously in the pockets over the height of the coil springs and can have a cross section which is adapted to the outline of the coil springs. This means that adhesive application is still only possible in one line area. However, this area has been expanded comparatively because the flexibility of the connecting walls allows good contact with the pockets of the coil springs.

If the connecting walls are profiled in the longitudinal direction with adaptation to at least a part of the circumference of the coil springs, the area in which the adhesive can be applied is also considerably expanded in the direction transverse to the axis of the coil springs. In addition, the profiling of the connecting walls is also advantageous in that each individual coil spring is additionally held and secured in place.

The connecting walls can consist of foam, that is, of foamed plastic, which can be adjusted to the desired elasticity, so that the properties of the pocket spring mattress can be influenced positively overall.

The gluing can consist of several glue dots distributed over a large area. It can be designed and applied in strips. Various possibilities of realization open up for the expert here.

The method for manufacturing such a pocket spring mattress with the features of the preamble of claim 6 is characterized according to the invention in that the pockets of the tapes are indirectly glued to one another by the tapes being directly bonded to a connecting wall. This does increase the number of adhesive dots. However, each individual adhesive point can be manufactured with greater certainty and more simply because the elastic flexibility of the material of the connecting wall is cleverly used for this.

It is possible to first glue a tape to a connecting wall, then to have a division into sections consisting of tape and connecting wall and finally to glue the sections in the same direction. This allows rational production. The adhesive is expediently applied to the material of the connecting wall and not to the material of the pockets.

In Figure 1, a corner of a pocket spring mattress is shown. Bands 1, 2, 3, 4 made of pocket springs are alternately arranged, with pockets 5 formed from fabric, nonwoven fabric or the like, which are connected to one another with a longitudinal seam 6 and transverse seams 7, but are connected to one another. A coil spring 8 is encapsulated in each pocket 5. This formation of the tapes 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. corresponds to the usual state of the art.

Between adjacent bands and also at the beginning and at the end, a connecting wall 9 made of elastic material, for example of foam, is provided, the connecting walls 9 (FIG. 2) being provided continuously over the height of the coil springs 8 or the pockets 5. The width of the connecting walls 9 can be a fraction of the diameter of the coil springs 8. A large number of individual adhesive dots 10 are formed between the material of the pockets 5 and the connecting walls 9, which is expediently done by applying an adhesive to the connecting walls 9, against which the strips of pockets 5 are held with the time required for curing. Due to the resilience of the material of the connecting walls 9, there is a good flat contact in the area of the adhesive points 10, so that the connection occurs safely and reliably in the area of all the adhesive points 10. It goes without saying that with this design there is approximately a linear contact between the helical springs 8, which are designed as cylindrical springs, and the connecting walls 9, so that the adhesive dots 10 must be placed accordingly. The connecting walls 9 according to FIG. 2 have a rectangular cross-section, which is provided to be constant throughout their length.

Figure 3 shows an embodiment in which the coil springs 8 are formed as barrel springs. Here, too, the connecting walls 9 have a constant cross section over their length, but it is concave is configured to enlarge the area in which the adhesive dots 10 can be arranged in this way. As can be seen, the adhesive dots 10 can even be arranged in the region of the first and last turn of the coil springs 8, which was previously not possible at all when the pockets 5 of coil springs 8 were bonded directly as barrel springs.

According to FIG. 5, it is of course also possible to concentrate the adhesive bonding on the central area of the barrel springs and to apply or arrange the adhesive dots in strips, namely as adhesive strips 11.

The exemplary embodiments of FIGS. 6 to 8 show a fundamentally similar structure, but here the connecting walls 9 are profiled in the direction of their longitudinal extension, i.e. here they have changing cross-sections. In this way, a better adaptation to the shape of the coil springs is possible over a larger circumferential area and the zone within which the adhesive dots 10 or adhesive strips 11 can be arranged becomes considerably larger, i.e. there is a comparatively large area within which the adhesive dots 10 can be arranged almost arbitrarily. Such zones 12 are shown highlighted in FIGS. 7 and 8. The shown profiling of the connecting walls 9 in the longitudinal direction also provides, as it were, a positive connection to the pockets 5 or the encapsulated coil springs 8, so that each coil spring 8 is not only held and secured by the pockets 5, but also additionally by the profile the connecting walls 9.

The pocket spring mattresses of the type shown can be produced very easily and inexpensively. The Adhesive dots 10 or adhesive strips 11, for example in the form of a hot glue, are expelled mechanically through nozzles of a corresponding adhesive application machine and thereby reach an endless strip of the connecting wall 9 Connection and curing has taken place. This double tape is then subdivided into tape sections, further adhesive points 10 or adhesive strips 11 being applied again — in particular to the material of the connecting wall. The sections are then held together for a short time until hardening takes place here as well, a good contact being achieved as a result of the flexibility of the material of the connecting walls 9.
