Abstract

The mattress has a multiplicity of joined-together, encapsulated helical springs (8), one helical spring being arranged in each case in a closed pocket (5) made of fabric, nonwoven material or the like. The closed pockets (5) are arranged joined together as strips (1, 2, 3, 4) in one direction and connected by bonding transversely to the direction of the strips. A connection wall (9) made of elastic material is provided between in each case two adjacent strips parallel to the direction of the strips (1, 2, 3, 4). The pockets (5) of the strips (1, 2, 3, 4) are bonded to one another indirectly via one connection wall (9) in each case. <IMAGE>
