Definitions
- the invention relates to a spiral link belt with a plurality of plastic spirals, the windings of a spiral zipper-like and without tension or compression spring tension interlocking with the windings of the neighboring spirals, and with plug-in wires which are inserted into the channels, two each by the interlocking windings Spirals are formed, the turns of the spirals penetrating into the material of the plug wires and the spirals having an oval shape with heads widening in the longitudinal direction of the spirals on the winding arches and the interior of the spirals being filled with filler material.
- the object of the present invention is therefore to achieve a reduction in air permeability with simple means.
- the width of the heads of the winding arcs is preferably approximately twice the diameter of the wires from which the spirals are wound.
- the application also relates to a method for producing such a spiral link belt.
- the spirals with widened winding heads can be produced by a method similar to that described in DE-OS 29 38 221, the wire material being wound on a mandrel with an oval or lenticular cross section. Due to this cross-section, the mandrel has a longitudinal edge or cutting edge, so that the wire tension periodically increases and decreases during winding. When the wire tension rises suddenly, a deformation of the wire material is brought about, which leads to the widened winding heads. The more pronounced the oval or lens shape of the mandrel and the higher the tension with which the wire is wound on the mandrel, the more pronounced the widening of the winding heads. In addition, the wire can be heated on the mandrel immediately before it comes up.
- the wire cross-section on the winding heads can additionally be flattened by pressure wheels which press the wire material against the cutting edge or edge of the mandrel.
- the spirals are wound from a wire with a kidney, U or V-shaped cross section.
- Such wires have a concave and a convex side, and the coils are wound so that the concave side faces inwards or outwards.
- thermofixing a sufficiently high longitudinal tension is then exerted on the spiral link belt and a temperature is used such that the cross section of the wires is flat in the region of the winding arches, in which the wires rest on the plug wires is pressed. Flattening results in a broadening. The extent of the widening depends not only on the softness of the material, but also and above all on the cross-sectional shape of the plastic wires used.
- the spirals are wound from heat-fixable plastic monofilament, in particular from polyester monofilament.
- the filling material can be a ribbon, one or more plastic monofilaments, spun yarn, multifilament yarn, a braided hose or the like. So far, plastic monofilaments have mainly been used in practice.
- the widening of the heads 3 should be concentrated on the outermost ends of the winding arcs 7, so that the widened heads 3 do not increase the pitch of the spirals 1 in the finished spiral link belt.
- the wire material 18 passes through a heating device 19 and is wound on a mandrel 20 with a pronounced oval cross section.
- the mandrel can also have a lenticular cross section with two edges.
- Two pressure wheels 21 can also be provided. They press against the edges of the mandrel 20 and press the winding heads 3 flat.
- a cone 22 is guided in a reciprocating manner on the mandrel 20.
- the wire 18 is pushed over the end of the mandrel 20 by the rapidly reciprocating cone 22.
- the turns of the wire 18 are pressed apart by the widened heads 3.
- the wound wire 18 is pushed through a heat-setting zone, in which both the shape of the spirals and the widening of the heads are heat-set.
- the one formed from the wire 18 Spiral 1 is now fixed in the desired shape and pushes itself from the thinning mandrel 20 and falls into a collecting container.
- FIG. 4 and 5 show a spiral link belt made of spirals with widened winding heads before and after the heat setting. While in Fig. 4, ie before the heat setting, the plug wires 2 are straight, they are slightly wavy in Fig. 5, that is after the heat setting.
- the waveform of the plug wires 2 prevents the turns of the spirals 1 from shifting along the plug wires 2. Due to the waveform of the plug wires 2, the winding heads 3 are also very close to the plug wires 2, so that there are hardly any openings for air to pass between the winding heads 3 and the plug wires 2.
- the interior 8 of the spirals 1 is laterally delimited by the winding heads 3 and above and below by the winding legs 9.
- the lateral boundary is almost complete, so that the interior 8 of the spirals 1 can be practically completely filled by inserting filler material 4, so that the air permeability is greatly reduced. It is important here that the space between adjacent winding heads 3 of the same spiral 1 is as small as possible, since this space cannot be filled by the filling material 4. In the embodiment shown here, this space is filled by the widened winding heads 3.
- the pitch of the spirals 1 in the finished spiral band is approximately twice the diameter of the spiral wires. Since the winding heads 3 have a width equal to twice the spiral wire diameter, they touch one another in the finished spiral band or at least substantially reduce the free space between them.
- FIGS. 3, 6 and 7 show a further possibility for achieving particularly wide winding heads 3.
- spirals 1 are used, which are wound from a specially profiled spiral wire.
- the profile of these spiral wires can be described as kidney-shaped, U-shaped or V-shaped. Different possibilities of the profile are shown in Fig. 3.
- These profiles can also be referred to as a circular profile with a sector-like cut.
- These spiral wires are wound into spirals 1 in the manner known from DE-OS 29 38 221.
- a second wire which is denoted by 24 in DE-OS 29 38 221, a certain slope of the spirals can be achieved.
- the additional heating device 19 and the pressure wheel 21 are generally not required.
- the spirals 1 are made so that the special profile of the spiral wire is present within the entire spiral 1 including the winding heads 3.
- the profile has a convex side and a concave side 6 or incised side.
- the spirals 1 are wound so that the concave side 6 or incised side faces inwards. It could also point outwards.
- Fig. 6 shows a section in the central plane of a spiral link belt made therefrom before heat setting.
- the special profile of the spiral wires can be seen in the area of the winding arcs 3. When heat setting, a high longitudinal tension is exerted on the spiral link belt while heating.
- the invention is particularly suitable for being implemented in addition to the measures specified in DE-OS 25 04 373.3.
- Both embodiments can in particular complement each other in such a way that a somewhat less strong profiling of the plug wires 2 or a smaller thickness of the softer sheath of the plug wires is supplemented by widening of the winding heads 3, the winding heads then e.g. only have to correspond to 1.5 times the wire size of the spirals 1.
- Both measures complement each other so that the trapezoidal surface 5 of Fig. 1 of DE-OS 35 04 373.3 are almost completely closed.

Description
The invention relates to a spiral link belt with a plurality of plastic spirals, the windings of a spiral zipper-like and without tension or compression spring tension interlocking with the windings of the neighboring spirals, and with plug-in wires which are inserted into the channels, two each by the interlocking windings Spirals are formed, the turns of the spirals penetrating into the material of the plug wires and the spirals having an oval shape with heads widening in the longitudinal direction of the spirals on the winding arches and the interior of the spirals being filled with filler material.
With such a spiral link belt known from DE-A-31 35 140, a widening of the winding heads can be seen in FIG. 2. It may be a result of the thermofixing of the spiral link belt.
From DE-A-29 38 221 it is known to cause a slight widening of the winding heads in the manufacture of the spirals, thereby ensuring the coherence of the spirals before the insertion of the plug wire.
From DE-A-24 19 751 a spiral link belt is known in which the individual spirals in the spiral link belt one have tension in tension. In connection with a strong widening of the winding heads, the coils can be held together so strongly that the winding heads act as coupling heads or coupling flattenings, which generate a non-positive cohesion of the spirals even without plug wires (see last paragraph of the description and claim 3 there).
It is known from DE-A-35 04 373, which is based on an older application but not previously published, to allow the windings of the spirals to penetrate particularly deeply into the material of the plug wires in order to reduce the air permeability, so that the penetration depth is equal to or greater than that Wire size of the spirals is. For this purpose, specially profiled plug wires or plug wires with a sheath made of softer material are used. However, such plug wires require additional manufacturing effort and thereby increase the manufacturing costs.
The object of the present invention is therefore to achieve a reduction in air permeability with simple means.
This object is achieved according to
The width of the heads of the winding arcs is preferably approximately twice the diameter of the wires from which the spirals are wound.
Bevorzugte Ausgestaltungen der Erfindung sind Gegenstand der Unteransprüche.Preferred embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.
The application also relates to a method for producing such a spiral link belt.
The spirals with widened winding heads can be produced by a method similar to that described in DE-OS 29 38 221, the wire material being wound on a mandrel with an oval or lenticular cross section. In addition, it may be expedient to use a more easily deformable wire material than is customary for spiral link belts. Finally, the wire cross-section on the winding heads can additionally be flattened by pressure wheels which press the wire material against the cutting edge or edge of the mandrel.
It is also possible to form the widened winding heads only when heat setting. For this purpose, the spirals are wound from a wire with a kidney, U or V-shaped cross section. Such wires have a concave and a convex side, and the coils are wound so that the concave side faces inwards or outwards. When thermofixing, a sufficiently high longitudinal tension is then exerted on the spiral link belt and a temperature is used such that the cross section of the wires is flat in the region of the winding arches, in which the wires rest on the plug wires is pressed. Flattening results in a broadening. The extent of the widening depends not only on the softness of the material, but also and above all on the cross-sectional shape of the plastic wires used.
As usual, the spirals are wound from heat-fixable plastic monofilament, in particular from polyester monofilament. The filling material can be a ribbon, one or more plastic monofilaments, spun yarn, multifilament yarn, a braided hose or the like. So far, plastic monofilaments have mainly been used in practice.

As shown in Fig. 1 of DE-OS 35 04 373.3, remain with a spiral link belt in which the interior of the Spirals to reduce the air permeability is filled with filler material, in the middle plane of the spiral link belt between adjacent winding heads and the filler material 4 still trapezoidal areas - they bear the reference number 5 there - which allow relatively unhindered air passage.
In the spiral link belt shown in Fig. 1, these free trapezoidal surfaces are eliminated by the fact that on the winding arches 7, widened
The widening of the
Da die Windungsköpfe 3 eine Breite gleich dem doppelten Spiraldrahtdurchmesser besitzen, berühren sie einander im fertigen Spiralband oder verringern zumindest den zwischen ihnen bestehenden freien Raum wesentlich.4 and 5 show a spiral link belt made of spirals with widened winding heads before and after the heat setting. While in Fig. 4, ie before the heat setting, the
The
The invention is particularly suitable for being implemented in addition to the measures specified in DE-OS 25 04 373.3. Both embodiments can in particular complement each other in such a way that a somewhat less strong profiling of the
