Abstract

These ski bindings have a slide (11) with a U-shaped cross section carrying a part of the binding, and a forked guide plate (8) mounted on the ski and serving to guide the slide (11), said plate being provided with at least one toothed bar (8c). Associated with the latter is an engagement element (14), of the lever type, provided with engagement teeth (14c) mounted to pivot on the slide (11) and actuatable by an adjusting component (17 or 20). In order to achieve locking of the slide (11) in relation to the guide plate (8) not only by form-locking but in addition by a force connection (friction), the tops (8a, 8b) of the guide plate (8) have an elastic configuration approximately transversely to the direction of adjustment, the adjustment component (17) presses, in the engagement position of the engagement element (14), the tops (8a, 8b) against the side-pieces (11, 11b) of the slide (11), and the engagement element (14) is in the form of a lever with one arm.

Description

The invention relates to an adjustment device for ski bindings, as specified in the first part of claims 1 and 2, respectively.

Such an adjustment device has already been described in DE-A-1 954 512. In this adjustment device, the actuator is designed as a slide which is displaceable transversely to the longitudinal direction of the ski and which can be locked by a spring. The slide is provided with a recess into which an extension of the locking member, which is designed as a two-armed lever, engages.

This adjustment device has the disadvantage that, due to the teeth which are triangular in plan view, the latching element is subjected to a torque during operation which attempts to disengage the teeth of the latching element from the teeth of the toothed rack. By this torque, however, the surface pressure between the extension of the locking member, which sits on the shorter lever arm, and the recess in the slide, in which the extension engages, is so great that, after prolonged use of the adjusting device, deformations can occur which result in unintentional unlocking of locking element and toothed rack result.

Adjusting devices of a different type than the subject of the invention are described in AT-A-375 260. These adjustment devices have a frame-shaped guide plate which is provided with angled guides in the region of its longitudinal edges. As a result, however, deflection and thus pressing the guide plate against the slide by the latching elements is not possible. However, in these embodiments, the locking members are designed as one-armed levers.

The invention has for its object to eliminate the disadvantages of the known designs and to provide an adjustment device for ski bindings, in which the locking of the carriage is not only brought about by positive locking, but also by force locking.

Starting from an adjusting device according to the first part of claim 1 or 2, this object is achieved according to the invention by the features of the characterizing part of one of these claims. In this embodiment, the teeth of the or each locking member are pressed with a positive fit between the teeth of the toothed rack. At the same time, however, the tines of the fork-shaped guide plate are pressed against the legs of the U-shaped slide, as a result of which the slide is also held against the guide plate by friction.

As such, the idea of holding the sled not only by positive locking but also by friction in an adjustment device for ski bindings is already known, as shown in FR-A-2 578 434. In the embodiment described therein, a guide plate fastened to the ski is approximately U-shaped in cross section, with a row of holes being recessed in one leg of the U here as well. A slide is slidably mounted on this guide plate, which carries latching teeth at its one end region, which are intended for engagement in the row of holes. The slide can be swiveled so far within the guide plate that the locking teeth can be pulled out of the row of holes.

However, in order to prevent an unintentional loosening of the adjusting device, a two-armed lever is rotatably mounted in a recess of the slide on an axis perpendicular to the top of the ski, the longer arm of which is supported in the locked position of the adjusting device on the leg of the guide plate free of holes. The shorter arm of the lever rests on an actuator which fixes the lever either in a position in which the longer arm projects laterally over the slide, or in a position in which this arm is flush with the side surface of the slide.

This version has the disadvantage of a complicated structure, since either the axis of the lever or the axis of the actuator must be stored in a rubber-elastic intermediate sleeve in order to achieve the desired effect (locking the lever in two positions). The lever is therefore under the influence of a spring, which sets limits to the contact pressure and thereby reduces friction. This is all the more so since the contact pressure is reduced by the lever reduction at the point of application.

The subject matter of claim 3 ensures a particularly simple design of the actuator.

The measure of claim 4 enables simple manufacture of the toe.

Due to the feature of claim 5, the designer is given the opportunity to move the location of the actuation of the actuator away from the area of the free ends of the locking member.

Finally, the measure of claim 6 ensures reliable return of the locking member to its unlocked position.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. 1 is a partially sectioned side view of a ski binding equipped with an adjustment device according to the invention, FIG. 2 is a plan view of a first embodiment of an adjustment device with the cover and adjusting screw removed in the locked state, and FIG. 3 is a section along the line III-III in FIG. 2. FIG. 4 is a plan view of the adjusting device according to FIGS. 2 and 3, likewise with the cover and adjusting screw removed, but in the unlocked state, and FIG. 5 is a section along the line V - V in FIG. 4. In FIGS 6 and 7 are top views of a second and third embodiment of the adjusting device according to the invention in the locked position, the cover and the adjusting screw being removed. Finally, Fig. 8 shows a top view of a last embodiment game of an adjustment device according to the invention, again in the locked position.

An seinem vorderen Ende trägt der Schlitten 11 an seiner Unterseite eine Gleitplatte 6.In Fig. 1, 1 denotes a ski on which a ski binding designated in its entirety with 2 is attached. This ski binding 2 has a mounting plate 3 in its rear area and a base plate 4 in its front area. The two plates 3 and 4 are screwed onto the top of the ski 1 by means of screws 7. A pivot pin 5 is attached to the mounting plate 3 and is used for the pivotable mounting of a guide plate 8. This carries at its rear end a heel holder 9, not described in detail. A ski brake 10, which is only indicated in the drawing, is arranged in the guide plate 8. At the front end of the guide plate 8, a slide 11 is guided, which carries the sole holder 12b of a two-part front jaw 12 at its front end. The front part of the front jaw 12 is designed as a guide bracket 12a for the sole holder 12b and is guided on the base plate 4 so as to be longitudinally displaceable. At its front end, the slide 11 carries a sliding plate 6 on its underside.

The design of the toe 12 and the heel holder 9 is not in itself an object of the invention. For this reason, the special design of these binding parts is not discussed. The carriage 11 can be adjusted relative to the guide plate 8 by means of an adjusting device forming the subject of the invention, as shown in FIGS. 2 to 5.

At least one (8a) of the two fork tines 8a, 8b, which are spring-mounted transversely to the longitudinal axis of the ski, is provided with a toothed strip 8c. The slide 11 guided on the guide plate 8 in the longitudinal direction of the ski is approximately U-shaped in cross section and open at the top. The two legs 11 and 11b of the carriage 11 have inwardly directed flanges 11c and 11d. On the base 11 e of the slide 11, a locking member 14 provided with locking teeth 14c is pivotally mounted on an axis 15 against the force of a leg spring 23. On the top of the base 11 e there is a support plate 16, which is opposite the end of the locking member 14 carrying the locking teeth 14 c and is freely movable.

In the longitudinal center plane of the adjusting device 13, in the area between the support plate 16 and the end of the locking member 14 carrying the locking teeth 14c, a threaded bore 11f is recessed in the base 11e of the slide 11, into which a set screw 17 is screwed, which forms the actuator. The adjusting screw 17 has a cone 17b following the screw head 17a, to which the threaded portion 17c of the adjusting screw connects. On their side facing the adjusting screw 17, the latching member 14 and the support plate 16 have V-shaped recesses 14d and 16a in plan view, which are chamfered on their upper edge. In the unlocked state of the adjusting device 13, due to the leg spring 23, the distance between the support plate 16 and the side of the locking member 14 opposite the locking teeth 14c is smaller than the diameter of the adjusting screw 17. Although the support plate 16 is freely movable relative to the base 11e of the slide 11, it cannot be lost when the adjusting device 13 is unlocked.

Plates 18a and 18b made of low-friction plastic are attached to the guide plate 8. The carriage 11 is covered at least in the region of the adjusting device 13 by a cover 19 which is U-shaped in cross section in order to prevent the penetration of snow and contaminants. This cover 19 has in its central region a recess 19a, which allows the set screw 17 to pass through.

Fig. 4). If the ski binding 2 is to be set to a desired shoe size, i.e. the distance of the sole holder 12b connected to the carriage 11 of the front jaw 12 compared to the heel holder 9 fastened to the guide plate 8 is changed, the set screw 17 is first unscrewed so far that the locking teeth 14c of the locking member 14 are disengaged under the influence of the leg spring 23 come from the teeth of the toothed rack 8c (see FIG. 4). Then the carriage 11 is adjusted according to the size of the ski boot to be used.

When the desired position of the carriage 11 relative to the guide plate 8 has been reached, the set screw 17 is tightened. In this case, the cone 17b of the screw 17 lies against the chamfered edges of the V-shaped recesses 14d and 16a of the latching member 14 or support plate 16. As a result, the latching teeth 14c are pressed into the tooth spaces of the toothed rack 8c. However, this has the consequence that the fork prong 8a of the guide plate 8 is pressed against the adjacent leg 11 of the carriage 11 and is held there by friction. At the same time, the support plate 16 is pressed against the other fork prong 8b of the guide plate 8. This fork tine 8b is thereby pressed against the leg 11b of the carriage 11. In this way, the carriage 11 is opposite the guide plate 8 not only by positive locking between the locking teeth 14c of the locking member 14 and the rack 8c, but also by frictional engagement between the support plate 16 and the fork 8b or between the two fork 8a, 8b and Legs 11a, 11b of the carriage 11 set.

The embodiments of adjusting devices 13 ', 13 ", 13'" shown in FIGS. 6 to 8 differ from those shown in FIGS. 2 to 5 in that instead of a single locking element and a support plate, two locking elements 14'a, 14th 'b; 14 "a, 14" b; 14 "'a, 14"' b, two leg springs 23 ', 23 ", 23'" and two toothed strips 8'c, 8'd assigned to the locking members; 8 "c, 8" d; 8 "'c, 8"' d are provided. The threaded bores are designated by 11'f and 11 "f.

Mit 15'a und 15'b bzw. 15"a und 15"b sind in den Fig. 6 und 7 die Achsen der Rastglieder 14'a und 14'b bzw. 14"a und 14"b bezeichnet. In the adjusting device 13 'shown in FIG. 6, the two latching members 14'a, 14'b are in with respect to the vertical longitudinal center plane or to the axis of the threaded bore 11'f arranged in mirror image, whereas the locking members 14 "a, 14" b in the adjusting device 13 "according to FIG. 7 with respect to the axis of the threaded bore 11" f centrally symmetrically mounted are. 15'a and 15'b or 15 "a and 15" b in FIGS. 6 and 7 denote the axes of the locking members 14'a and 14'b or 14 "a and 14" b.

The adjusting device 13 '"according to FIG. 8 is similar to the embodiment according to FIG. 6, in that the two latching elements 14"' a and 14 '"as well as their axes 15"' a and 15 "'b with respect to it However, here a wedge 20 is arranged between the free ends of the two locking members 14 "'a and 14"' b, which is under the influence of a compression spring 22 and whose displacement against the force of this spring, for example by means of a Eccentric 21 which can be rotated by hand and acts as an actuator. The unlocked position of the adjusting device 13 '"is indicated by dash-dotted lines.
