Description

The invention relates to a water / air cooler with plastic water tanks and a plastic expansion tank placed on the upper water tank.

Water / air coolers of this type are known. The expansion tank is, as is also the case with water / air coolers with water boxes made of metal, fastened to the upper water box with the aid of elastic clips or in some other way. In addition, it is necessary to lay a connection line from the water tank to the expansion tank for liquid compensation. This type of construction of a water / air cooler makes labor-intensive production necessary.

The invention has for its object to simplify the attachment of the expansion tank on the water tank. To solve this problem, the characterizing features of claim 1 are provided. This configuration makes it possible to attach the expansion tank only by pushing the connecting pins and the locking hooks into the assigned openings. Alignment of the position of the expansion tank and subsequent attachment of fastening clips or fastening screws is not necessary. The connecting pins and locking hooks or locking eyelets, which are preferably molded in one piece on the water tank and on the expansion tank, enable both the alignment of the expansion tank into the installation position and the final fastening in a simple manner during assembly.

Advantageous developments of the invention are characterized in the subclaims. The features of claims 2 and 3 offer the advantage that stable hollow connecting pieces are formed, which enable an exact position securing. The features of claims 4 and 5 have the advantage that a relatively wide base for snapping the locking hook is created without difficulties in the arrangement of the locking eyes.

The features of claim 6 offer security against unwanted loosening of the locking hook. The claims 7 to 10 allow to use the stable hollow socket arrangement at the same time to establish the liquid connection between the water tank and the expansion tank, so that in addition to the simpler attachment of the expansion tank also a simplification in assembly occurs in that the attachment of a separate connecting line is unnecessary .

The features of claims 12 to 14 enable a stable arrangement of the expansion tank on the water tank, with which acceleration forces can be absorbed, which occur transversely to the cooler through which the headwind flows. The arrangement is such that one of the two hollow socket arrangements forms a floating bearing in the longitudinal direction of the water tank, so that movement expansion is possible in the case of thermal expansion due to different materials, without the position adjustment of the expansion tank being impaired.

Die Stange kann dabei den Wasserraum des Wasserkastens (2) an der Stelle (33) durchdringen, wo ein Rohrstück mit einem quadratischen Querschnitt fest in den Wasserkasten eingesetzt ist, welches den Wasserraum abdichtet.1 and 2, the upper area of a water / air cooler (1) with the upper water tank (2) is shown, the two side parts (31 and 32) with the lower water tank, not shown, and with the between the two Water boxes arranged, also not shown finned tube block is connected. On the water tank (2), which in the exemplary embodiment is made of plastic, for example made of glass fiber reinforced polyamide, an expansion tank (4) is placed, which is also made of plastic, for example made of polypropylene. The water / air cooler (1), which is preferably suitable for a commercial vehicle, can be attached to the vehicle in the usual way. In the illustrated embodiment, the side parts (31 and 32) are connected to the side members of a vehicle frame, a third loading Fixing point is in the middle of the upper water tank (2) and is connected via a rod, not shown, to a bracket screwed to the vehicle engine. The rod can penetrate the water chamber of the water tank (2) at the point (33) where a piece of pipe with a square cross section is firmly inserted into the water tank, which seals the water chamber.

The expansion tank (4) is attached to the water tank via hollow connectors (5 or 6), of which the hollow connector (5) is assigned to the expansion tank (4) and the hollow connector (6) to the water tank (2). The hollow connectors (5 and 6) are designed so that they fit into one another. They each form a bowl which, as will be described in detail with reference to FIG. 3, is in each case inserted into the associated bowl of the other part. The expansion tank (4) are also assigned latching hooks (7) which are integrally molded onto the expansion tank (4) and which lie diametrically opposite the axis (27) of the connecting piece (5) of the expansion tank (4). The locking hooks (7) in the position shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 reach through locking eyelets (8) which are firmly connected to the plastic water tank (2) and are preferably also integrally molded on this plastic water tank. These locking eyelets (8) are in the form of laterally projecting tabs with rectangular channels through which the relatively wide locking hooks (7) with their clamping lugs (34) provided at the lower end project. As is also clear from Fig. 3, the clamping lugs (34) are provided with contact webs (35) which bear against a counter-latch (36) in the inserted position, which prevents the clamping lugs (34) from being inadvertently in the latched position detach from the lower edge (15) of the eyelets (8). The configuration is such that the counter detents (36) are provided with inclined run-on surfaces for the contact web (35), which also contribute to the fact that the clamping lugs (34) of the detent hooks (7) behind the edge (15) grip when the expansion tank (4) is placed on the nozzle (6) of the water tank (2).

Fig. 3 shows that each of the hollow connecting piece (5 and 6) consists of two concentrically arranged collars (9 and 10) (for the hollow connecting piece (5)) and (11 and 12) (for the hollow connecting piece (6)) , which each leave an annular gap (13) or 14) between them, into which the collar assigned to the other hollow connector can be firmly inserted. In the exemplary embodiment, the arrangement is such that the inner collar (9) of the hollow connector (5) is held in the annular gap (14) between the collars (11 and 12) of the hollow connector (6), while the outer collar (12) of the hollow connector (6) is held in the annular gap (13) between the collars (9 and 10). The inner collar (11) of the hollow socket (6) also sits in a further annular gap (37), which is formed by the collar (9) and an inner ring socket (38) on the expansion tank (4). This configuration creates a stable connection in all directions deviating from the axis (27) by pushing the hollow connecting pieces (5 and 6), which secures the position of the expansion tank (4) with respect to the axis (27) on the water tank (2). As can be seen in FIG. 3, the hollow connections (5 and 6) can be freely moved in the direction of the axis (27). The locking in this direction is taken over by the locking hooks (7) and the locking eyelets (8).

As can also be seen in FIGS. 1, 4 and 5, a second hollow socket arrangement for securing the position of the expansion tank (4) is also provided, in which locking hooks (7) and locking eyelets (8) in the same also diametrically to the axis (27ʹ) Execution as in Fig. 3 are provided. At this connection point, however, a floating bearing is formed in the exemplary embodiment, which interacts with the fixed bearing shown in FIG. 3. 4, a hollow pin (21) is provided, which engages in a groove (22) on the expansion tank, 4 apparent width is selected so that it corresponds to the width of the hollow socket (21), but the apparent length (1) from FIG. 5 is greater than the length of the hollow socket (21) measured in the same direction. Because of this configuration, a floating bearing is formed, which enables movement compensation between the expansion tank (4) and the water tank (2) in the longitudinal direction of the water tank (2), which is different due to thermal expansion of the different ones used for the expansion tank (4) and the water tank (2) Materials can be caused. For this reason, the locking hooks (7) are also not as wide as the inner clear width of the locking eyelets (8), seen in the longitudinal direction of the water tank (2). Securing in this direction therefore takes over the hollow socket arrangement of FIG. 3. However, in the direction transverse to the water tank (2), that is to say in the direction of the arrows (V) in FIG. 4, the hollow socket (21) lies firmly in the groove (22) and therefore secures the position of the expansion tank (4) on the water tank (2) in this direction. With this arrangement, acceleration or deceleration forces can also be absorbed in the direction of travel, which also lies in the direction transverse to the water / air cooler (1). The arrangement shown in FIGS. 1 to 5 therefore enables a very simple assembly of the expansion tank (4) on the water tank (2), but also secures the position and ensures an extremely stable connection between the water tank (2) and the expansion tank (4). The new arrangement is therefore particularly suitable for water / air coolers, such as those used for commercial vehicles, where the stress is relatively high.

Der übrige Aufbau der Anordnung nach Fig. 6 hinsichtlich der Rastösen (8) und der Rasthaken (7) entspricht jener der Fig. 3.6 shows a modified embodiment of the connection between the expansion tank (4) and a plastic water tank (2), in which the cup-like interlocking of collars (9ʹ, 10ʹ, 11ʹ and 12ʹ) of two hollow sockets (5 and 6 ) is provided, which is intended to secure the position with respect to the axis (27), but in which both hollow supports (5 and 6) each have a passage opening (17) are provided, which forms a fluid connection between the interior of the water tank (2) and the interior of the expansion tank (4). In this embodiment, in which, in the position shown, the expansion tank (4) is not yet firmly attached to the water tank (2), the edge (9ʹ) of the hollow connector (5) penetrates into the annular gap (14) when the expansion tank ( 4) is pushed onto the water tank (2) in the direction of the axis (27). At the same time, the collar (12ʹ) is pushed into the annular gap (13) and the annular connector (38ʹ) penetrates into the cylinder space (39) inside the collar (11ʹ). The dimensions are chosen so that the walls of the collars to be pushed into each other touch, so that after pushing one another they form a dense labyrinth, which in addition to securing the position of the expansion tank (4) on the water tank (2) also for sealing the fluid connection between the expansion tank (4) and water tank (2). It is also possible to provide sealing rings (18) which come to rest on shoulders (19 or 19a) and additionally ensure a good seal. Corresponding sealing rings (18) can of course also be provided in the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 5, where, however, they do not need to produce the sealing effect, but because of their installation they can then provide damping when absorbing acceleration forces. The remaining structure of the arrangement according to FIG. 6 with regard to the locking eyes (8) and the locking hooks (7) corresponds to that of FIG. 3.

Die übrige, in Fig. 7 hier nicht mehr gezeigte Verrastung durch Rasthaken (7) und Ösen (8) entspricht jener der Fig. 1 bis 5.Finally, another variant is shown in FIG. 7, in which the hollow connections (5 or 6) on the expansion tank (4) or water tank (2) are also simultaneously formed as a liquid connection. In this case, however, a hollow collar (6) in the area of the inner collar (11 allerdings) is also assigned a flange (40) projecting inwards like a flange, in the opening of which a valve (20) is inserted. This valve (20) makes it possible to meet special cooling circuit conditions. The rest, which are no longer shown in FIG. 7 Locking by locking hooks (7) and eyelets (8) corresponds to that of FIGS. 1 to 5.
