Definitions

  • the invention relates to a security band on a container closure made of thermoplastic material according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Security tapes also called guarantee tapes, in particular for bottle closures are known. They serve to secure the bottle contents against unauthorized opening. The safety band must therefore be easily and visibly damaged when opening the cap or bottle for the first time.
  • Security tapes of this type have the disadvantage that they can be damaged by heating, e.g. by hand, so far that the cap can be removed from the bottle together with the safety strap without damage.
  • Another disadvantage of these known closures is that the security band gets stuck on the bottle neck and during recycling, i.e. must be removed in a separate operation before reusing or recycling the bottle.
  • the invention seeks to remedy this.
  • the invention solves the problem of creating a security band for a plastic bottle cap of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1, which certainly does not suffer any damage when the cap is attached to the bottle neck and when the cap is unscrewed (opening the bottle), the cap is immediately and clearly visible, at least partially detached from the cap.
  • the advantages achieved by the invention can essentially be seen in the fact that the security band, which is part of the closure, can be applied to the container with the closure in a single operation and with existing closure machines. Damage to the security band during screwing of the closure onto the container can be prevented thanks to the partly elastic, partly essentially rigid connection of the band to the closure in spite of large manufacturing tolerances, particularly in the case of glass containers.
  • the security band is separated from the closure in a predetermined area due to the tensile forces acting on it.
  • the severed tape remains attached to the closure and is also held in a position that protrudes outwards and / or downwards from the closure. It is no longer possible to bend it back or put it on the bottle neck due to the plastic deformation of the connecting web when the closure is opened.
  • FIG. 1 A perspective view according to FIG. 1 shows a plastic closure 1 with a security band 2 in a view from below.
  • the closure 1 is not the subject of the invention, and its features with regard to the spatial shape and the sealing means necessary for a tight closure inside the closure 1 are neither shown nor explained in detail.
  • the security band 2 is attached in the form of an essentially circular cylinder-shaped ring 5.
  • the ring 5 is essentially rigidly and inseparably or separably connected to the closure 1 by means of two connecting webs 7 and 9.
  • the cross section of the ring 5 is significantly reduced at point B by a constriction 11.
  • the constriction 11 preferably only has the thickness of a skin at its thinnest point.
  • the ring 5 on the constriction 11 can be narrowed by an acute-angled notch 13.
  • the connecting web 9 is located at a distance from the connecting web 7, which is preferably less than half the circumference of the ring 5.
  • the ring 5 is axially divided by an incision 15 which preferably ends at an acute angle.
  • the separation point at the incision 15 can also be bridged with a thin skin, the strength of which is negligible is small, but optically makes the ring 5 appear in one piece before it is torn when opening or removing a ring section (indicated by broken lines).
  • the ring 5 can thus be divided into a substantially rigid and inseparably connected shorter ring section 17 and a longer ring section 19 elastically connected to the closure 1.
  • the ring section 19 is connected to the closure 1 at point A only by a very narrow connecting web 21.
  • the weakest point of the connecting web 21 is preferably exactly determined by a notch 23.
  • a tangential holding cam 25 is attached at a short distance from the incision 15 or directly thereafter on the inside.
  • Another holding cam 25 can also be arranged directly after the constriction 11 or at a short distance from it. Further holding cams 25 can also be provided at regular or irregular intervals on the inside of the ring sections 17 and 19.
  • the ring section 19 is separated by at least one predetermined breaking point 27, e.g. a thread-like web, or another trained, defined breakable connection connected to the closure 1.
  • No holding cam 25 is attached directly above the predetermined breaking point 27.
  • the web 27 is preferably between 25 holding cams.
  • the ring 5 lying at a distance from the edge 3 of the closure 1 has support cams 29 directed against the edge 3 of the closure 1 at substantially regular intervals.
  • the free end of the support cams 29 is at a short distance - as shown in FIG. 4 - or in direct contact with the edge 3.
  • a foot 31 is preferably attached to the support cams 29, so that a wide contact surface for the edge 3 of the closure 1 is created .
  • the contact surface can run parallel or inclined to the edge 3.
  • the ring 5 can be provided with a circumferential rib 33.
  • the rib 33 can also be interrupted at the point A and the cross section of the constriction 11 can also be reduced.
  • FIG. 2 which shows a section through the closure along the edge 3
  • the shorter length of the ring section 17 with the two webs 7 and 9 connecting this ring section and the adjacent incision 15 and the constriction 11 is clearly visible.
  • the holding cams 25 are designed to overflow into the ring 5 essentially without transition.
  • the predetermined breaking point 27 has a smallest diameter that is approximately two to ten times less than the thickness d of the ring 5.
  • a ring 5 with support cams 29 distributed over the circumference instead of a ring 5 with support cams 29 distributed over the circumference, a ring 5 with circumferential support 30 can also be provided.
  • flanks of the support 30 do not have to run in a straight line; they can also be arched (indicated by broken lines in FIG. 5) or kinked.
  • the closure 1 with the securing band 2 attached to it is screwed onto the thread 43 of a bottle 41 or another opening provided with a thread 43 in a conventional manner with a sealing machine.
  • the shorter ring section 17 essentially remains in its position relative to the closure 1.
  • the longer ring section 19 is pushed radially outwards by the thread 43 and in particular by the circumferential bead 37 following the thread 43 at the mouth 39.
  • the elastic connection at point A, in particular the thin connecting web 21 and the predetermined breaking point 27 and the constriction 11 enable this radial movement without being damaged in the process.
  • the ring section 19 and 17 if there are cams, jumps back into the original position and hooks on the underside of the bead 37, the flank of which lies essentially radially to the bottle neck 39.
  • the ring 5 is always supported by the support cams 29 or the circumferential support 30 on the closure 1.
  • the retaining cams 25 come into axial contact from below with the essentially radially extending lower flank of the bead 37 and are held back by the latter. Due to the forces acting on the ring section 19 via the retaining cams 25, the part of the ring section 19 located behind the predetermined breaking point 27 in the direction of rotation is held back under the bead 37 on the bottle neck 39, while the closure 1 is guided axially upward. With increasing distance between the ring section 19 and the edge 3 of the closure 1, the tensile force on the predetermined breaking point 27 becomes so great that it breaks. Now the ring section 19 held only on the constriction 11 and on the web 21 is held between the two connection points under the bead 37 of the bottle 1.
  • connection When the closure 1 is unscrewed further, or at the latest when the closure 1 is removed, the connection also tears at the constriction 11.
  • the connection at point A is retained since the notch 23 allows the ring section 19 to be pivoted like a hinge.
  • the plastic deformation of the connecting web 21 has the effect that the ring section 19 partially separated from the closure 1 cannot spring back into the original position and / or can easily be torn off. Once the security band 2 has been torn open, it cannot be put back on the closure 1.
