Definitions

  • the invention relates to a container for gassing products with a closure having a sealing disc to be pressed elastically on the edge of a container mouth to be closed.
  • Products that develop gas can cause tightly sealed containers to burst, limit the stability by deforming the container and / or cause accidents when the container closure is opened by splashing out.
  • Corresponding product containers must therefore have a pressure relief valve. This can be installed separately in the container wall or in the container closure.
  • the respective pressure relief valve is to be constructed in such a way that the internal pressure of the container is limited to a value below a predetermined maximum pressure, but the valve itself does not normally allow the stored product to escape. Valves are therefore provided which open at a certain internal pressure in the container and completely close again at a lower internal pressure.
  • Valves are expensive to manufacture - because of the individual parts - as well as in operation - because of the required cleanliness.
  • a certain simplification results if the pressure relief valve is integrated into the respective cap of the container.
  • the closure can then solve the task of relieving excess pressure, it is but can only be used for this purpose, so that a specially designed cap is required.
  • a can-shaped, with a lid closable vacuum container is known, the container edge has a wavy contour that creates air or gas passages from the outside into the interior of the container when the lid is attached. Through these air or gas passages, the gas inside the container can be sucked out to form the vacuum. The can or container is then hermetically and airtightly sealed, so that there is no longer any connection to the outside atmosphere through these gas or air passages.
  • a generic container is known from US-A-4,089,434, in which the sealing washer consists of three layers of material and has special features which, in the event of overpressure within the container, cause a targeted deformation of the sealing washer and thereby cause degassing channels to form between the container edge and the sealing washer .
  • the invention has for its object to provide a degassing valve that can be manufactured with much less effort than conventional valves of this type, does not require special care during operation and allows a standard closure cap of the product container.
  • the solution according to the invention is that the edge of the container mouth has successive depressions in the circumferential direction with mutual spacing, the arrangement, shape, number and size of the depressions reflecting the elasticity of the Sealing washer with a view to compressing the sealing washer are adapted away from the depressions in the case of container overpressure and at the same time with a view to sealingly releasing the sealing disk into the depressions when the overpressure drops.
  • the depressions according to the invention are intended to span a plurality of radial passages between the sealing washer and the mouth of the container in the event of overpressure. They are preferably periodically corrugated or serrated in the circumferential direction of the mouth edge and should in principle have a shape in the manner of a solid wave or of spaced half waves with a sawtooth, triangle, rectangle, sine or similar profile.
  • a gas-receiving container with an inexpensive standard closure of any kind e.g. Screw, clamp or impact closure to combine.
  • Only the mouth of the container is not - as usual - flat but defined corrugated, serrated or the like. If such a mouth is provided with a standard closure, which contains an elastic sealing disk, preferably made of synthetic foam, then gas can escape between the elastic sealing disk and the mouth rim at overpressure because the sealing disk is partially compressed due to its elasticity and is thus raised relative to the mouth rim, and the overpressure, e.g. can degrade along a thread.
  • the invention creates an overpressure valve integrated into the shape of the mouth of the product container, in which the elastic sealing disk acts as a valve spring.
  • the sealing washer is pressed against the cover plate of the respective one according to its elasticity Closure pressed so that there are radial passages between the interior of the container and the outside at the recesses of the mouth edge. These radial passages open the gas, which is under pressure above the product in the container, to the outside, beyond the mouth edge, for example towards the thread.
  • the depressions on the one hand and the sealing washer on the other hand should therefore be designed or selected so that at normal pressure the sealing washer is pressed into the depressions by the action of a screw cap, for example, and is compressed in volume under the influence of a relatively high overpressure so that it at least partially releases the depressions and radial passages are created for gas product which is under pressure in the interior of the container.
  • the sealing effect is then only limited to the time in which the pressure in the container reaches a certain upper threshold value and, as a result of the sealing disk being pushed out of the depressions, drops again to a certain lower threshold value below the upper threshold value.
  • the movement of the sealing washer which is caused by the rising or falling internal pressure, is favored when the container mouth at the mouth edge opposite the core dimension of the external thread in the direction of the mouth axis is drawn in.
  • a further relief of the gas outflow can be achieved if the external thread of the mouth and / or the internal thread of the screw cap has an interruption, for example at a mold parting plane.
  • a container 1 has a mouth, designated overall by 2, with an external thread 3 and mouth rim 4.
  • a sealing washer 5 is pressed onto the mouth rim 4 with the aid of a screw cap 6.
  • the mouth 2 has in the sealing area adjacent to the sealing disk 5 at the mouth edge 4 a radial indentation 7 shown in the drawing of FIG. 1 relative to the diameter of the core of the external thread 3.
  • the mouth 2 has a sealing washer 5 and screw cap 6 have a common longitudinal axis 8.
  • the edge 4 of the mouth 2 of the container 1 facing the sealing disc 5 is defined in a corrugated, serrated or similar manner.
  • Fig. 2 three embodiments of shapes of the mouth edge 4 are shown in principle.
  • a triangular wave 11, a sine wave 12 and a sequence of spaced half waves 13 come into question.
  • the shafts 11, 12 and 13 are - like all other possible recess shapes of the mouth rim 4 - according to arrangement, shape, number and size of the elasticity of the sealing disk 5 with a view to sealingly pressing the sealing disk 5 between the cover plate 9 of the screw cap 6 and the mouth rim 4 adapted to normal pressure and to a pressing out of the sealing disk volume from the depressions 11 to 13 at container overpressure.
  • the shape of the recesses of the mouth rim 4, which are matched to the elasticity of the sealing disk 5, is only important that the depressions in the case of overpressure can define a plurality of radial passages between the sealing disk 5 and the mouth rim 4 in relation to the longitudinal axis 8 of the mouth 2.
  • the sealing disk 5 can escape with part of its volume from the depressions 11 to 13 and open a path to the outside along the turns of the thread 3 for the gas located under overpressure above the product. Regardless of keeping the thread 3 clean, this path to the outside always has a sufficiently large cross-section if the thread 3 contains at least one interruption 10 as a passage from the mouth edge 4 to the outside.
  • the thread interruption 10 can preferably run along a mold separation plane present in the mouth 2 and / or in the screw cap 6. To dissipate excess pressure and at the same time to reseal after relaxation, it is also advantageous if the mouth 2 has the indentation 7 shown in the drawing of FIG. 1 in the sealing region adjacent to the sealing disk 5.
