Definitions

  • the invention relates to a dispenser for pasty masses, in particular toothpastes, according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
  • a dispenser of this type is known from DE-A 1 210 149 or US-A 3 088 636. Pressure on the bellows, which can be compressed like a bellows, causes the pasty mass to emerge from the discharge opening, the discharge opening being assigned a discharge valve which is intended to close again when the overpressure drops.
  • the well-known dispenser was unable to assert itself because, on the one hand, the dispensing valve suddenly opens from a certain overpressure threshold. This leads to unpleasant spray effects. This also means that the dispensed quantities cannot be dosed exactly.
  • the lips delimiting the dispensing opening cannot avoid an uncontrolled lateral leakage of the pasty mass, with the result that the known dispenser is not suitable for applying toothpaste to a relatively narrow toothbrush.
  • constructions have been proposed, such as those described in EP-A-0 053 275 or EP-B-0 051 790.
  • the constructions described there are relatively complex to construct, since they each have a relatively large number of components; furthermore, separate plugs or lids are required in order to close the dispensing opening after use and to prevent the pasty mass from drying out.
  • the handling of these known constructions is correspondingly cumbersome.
  • the present invention has for its object to develop a dispenser of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1 in such a way that it becomes simpler in construction and handling and that in particular permanently, ie. H. During the entire period of use, a controlled discharge of the pasty mass with regard to the thickness and the width is ensured when the bellows-like head piece is compressed.
  • the dispenser according to the invention differs from the prior art primarily in that the dispensing opening is not limited by lips which, when opened, release an approximately elliptical cross section, with the result that pasty mass can escape laterally in an uncontrolled manner.
  • the lip dispensing valve With the known lip dispensing valve, only a relatively wide strip of pasty mass can be applied, the thickness of this strip widely varying over the width, in particular "flowing out” towards the two longitudinal edges.
  • the closing tab provided according to the invention ensures a uniform opening of the dispensing valve via the entire width of the discharge opening and thus an approximately equally thick discharge of pasty over the width
  • DE-GM 85 18 670 presents a device for depositing an edge strip of paste-like substance on a strand of paste.
  • This dispenser has a dispenser housing with a piston which is displaceably arranged therein.
  • this piston moves in the direction of a head piece of the dispenser housing, which can be compressed like a bellows and comprises a dispensing valve and a pushbutton actuating surface.
  • the dispensing valve is formed by a closing flap, which, as an integral part of the head piece, is elastically articulated in the closed position on only one side of the dispensing opening assigned to the dispensing valve, in such a way that the closing flap releases the dispensing opening when the bellows-type head piece in the dispenser housing is compressed .
  • a nozzle downstream of the dispensing valve for discharging a uniform strand of paste is connected to the dispensing opening.
  • the head piece forms a variable-volume pump chamber, which is separated from the dispenser housing by a check valve that can only be opened in the direction of the pump chamber. This ensures that the piston does not move in the direction away from the dispensing valve when the dispenser is emptied.
  • a disadvantage of this known dispenser for pasty masses is, on the one hand, its manufacture and assembly, which have proven to be extremely complex owing to the many different individual parts which can only be assembled into a single structural unit.
  • Another disadvantage of this known dispenser is the constructive design of the dispensing valve itself, with which a uniform dispensing, ie a controlled discharge of the respective pasty mass, cannot be achieved. Rather, an additional nozzle is arranged downstream of the dispensing valve in order to enable the paste strand to always be uniformly discharged with regard to its thickness and width.
  • Claim 13 relates to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the bellows-shaped head piece, preferably in combination with a dispensing valve according to one of the preceding claims, the focus of this construction being the supporting effect of the dispensing channel. This ensures that the head piece can only be compressed in the region of the bellows even when pressure is applied unfavorably.
  • Claim 17 relates to an embodiment which enables the formation of colored strips or the like in a simple manner when the pasty mass emerges.
  • a dispenser for pasty masses, in particular toothpastes is shown with a displaceably arranged in a dispenser housing 10, when emptying the dispenser (see FIG. 3) in the direction of a dispensing valve 12 integrated in a head piece 15, in the opposite direction from one Locking of known type (clamping module or clamping spring 11) blocked piston 13.
  • the direction of movement of the piston 13 in the housing 10 is indicated by the arrow 13 '.
  • the above-mentioned head piece 15, which is sealingly fixed to the upper edge 37 of the container 10, can be compressed in a bellows-like manner (see FIG. 3) and, for this purpose, has a push-button actuating surface 14 on the upper side facing away from the dispensing valve 12.
  • the dispensing valve 12 integrated in the head piece 15 opens when overpressure is created by squeezing the bellows-shaped head piece 15 in the dispenser housing 10 (see FIGS. 6 and 7).
  • the dispensing valve 12 has a closing flap 16 which, in the embodiment shown, is an integral part of the head piece 15 on only one side
  • a discharge opening 17 is articulated (linkage 23) in such a way that it releases the discharge opening 17 when there is excess pressure in the dispenser housing 10 (FIGS. 3, 6 and 7), but otherwise closes (FIGS. 1, 4 and 5).
  • the discharge opening 17 has an approximately rectangular cross section.
  • the closing flap 16 assigned to this discharge opening 17 is formed by a front separating cut 18 and two lateral separating cuts 19, 20 in a membrane originally closing the discharge opening 17.
  • the locking tab 16 is firmly connected to the rest of the head piece. Only after the headpiece has been produced is the closing flap 16 "cut out" along the lines 18, 19 and 20. In this way, the manufacture of the head piece 15 made of elastic plastic material is very simple.
  • the lateral boundary walls of the discharge opening 17 are continued in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 7 as well as in the other embodiments beyond the closing flap 16, to be precise with the formation of lateral extensions 21, 22, against which the closing flap also seals in the open state .
  • the lateral separating cuts 20, 19 lie in the planes defined by the inner sides of the lateral boundary walls of the discharge opening 17.
  • the piston 13 can only be displaced in the emptying direction 13 '.
  • the head piece 15 is formed bellows-like in all embodiments.
  • the zone forming the bellows 34 of the head piece 15 is achieved by a horizontal, flat V-shaped constriction 35.
  • This constriction extends on the side of the head piece 15 opposite the dispensing valve over at least one third of the preferably approximately half the cross-sectional width of the head piece 15, which in its basic shape extends upwards approximately cylindrically be.
  • the bellows furrow 35 represents a “desired kink” when the surface 14 is pressurized accordingly.
  • the lateral extensions 21, 22 absolutely ensure that the discharge of the pasty mass from the dispenser or dispensing valve 12 is defined and controlled both with regard to the thickness and the width.
  • the discharged mass has a substantially constant rectangular cross section over the entire length.
  • the locking tab 16 is elastically biased towards the closed position (see FIGS. 4 and 5).
  • the elastic pretensioning takes place through corresponding material deformation at the articulation point 23 of the locking flap 16.
  • the locking flap 16 has an original position protruding into the dispensing opening 17 (as in FIGS. 8 and 9) shown) brought under elastic pretension in the region of its articulation 23 on the head piece in the closed position (see dashed illustration of the locking tab in FIG. 8).
  • the closing flap 16 In the closed position, the closing flap 16 lies with its front edge 24 opposite the articulation 23 in a prestressed manner on the assigned or front edge 25 of the discharge opening 17. At the same time, the locking tab 16 lies sealingly against the two lateral boundary walls of the dispensing opening or lateral extensions 21, 22. After the manufacture of the head piece 15, the closing flap 16 is still connected in one piece to the two lateral boundary walls of the dispensing opening 17. The flap 16 must therefore be separated from the side boundary walls before it can be brought into the closed position. The lateral separation takes place in the embodiment according to FIGS. 8 and 9 in a similar manner as in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 7 (lateral separating cuts 19, 20).
  • a material recess or groove 38 which extends across the width of the dispensing opening and is open toward the inside of the container, is provided in the region of the articulation 23 of the closing flap (see FIG. 8).
  • the restoring force of the closing flap 16 can be influenced well by the width and depth of the groove 38.
  • the width and depth of the groove 38 is preferably approximately half the wall thickness of the locking tab 16 or head piece 15.
  • the closing tab 16 can be provided with laterally molded sealing tabs 26, 27 which extend into the interior of the container (see FIGS. 10 to 12).
  • the locking tab 16 in its original position can be approximately vertically downward or approximately Extend parallel to the longitudinal axis of the container into the inside of the container (see FIGS. 10 to 12), starting from the inner edge 28 of the discharge opening 17 freely "hanging down".
  • the closing flap 16 thus extends downwards into a free space, ie into a space that is free to the front, to the rear and to the side.
  • the lateral separating cuts 19, 20 can also be avoided.
  • the manufacture of such a head piece is very simple, especially because the associated injection mold does not have to have any undercuts.
  • the length of the closing flap 16 is of course dimensioned such that in the closed position its front or free edge rests on the front edge 25 of the discharge opening 17 in a sealing manner under elastic prestress in the closing direction.
  • the width of the closing tab 16 in turn corresponds to the inside width of the delivery opening 17. Sealing tabs 26, 27 are also provided on the side.
  • the closing flap 16 is in each case at a distance from the upper edge of the delivery opening 17 within the same, ie. H. offset to the inside of the container, arranged.
  • the closing flap 16 is separated out similarly to that according to the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 7 by a front and two lateral separating cuts.
  • the function or characteristic of the closing flap 16 is correspondingly similar.
  • the cross section of the discharge opening 17 and, accordingly, the circumference of the closing flap 16 can be approximately square.
  • the closing flap 16 is, however, preferably designed in accordance with FIG. 15.
  • the locking tab 16 is namely in its original position designed as a continuation of the rear or container inner boundary wall 29 of the discharge opening 17 (see dashed line in Fig. 15), so that it is in its closed position with its front or free edge 24, sealingly resilient in the closing direction, can rest on a projection 31 which is arranged on the front boundary wall 30 of the discharge opening 17 and is formed here and protrudes into the discharge opening 17.
  • a further closing flap 32 is assigned to the free edge of the discharge opening 17, so that residual stocks of the pasty mass in the upper region of the discharge opening 17 cannot dry out.
  • the locking tab 32 corresponds exactly to the locking tab 16 according to FIGS. 1 to 7.
  • the front wall of the head piece 15, which includes the dispensing valve 12 is relatively straight and accordingly kink-resistant, the kink-stiffness being in particular caused by an approximately upright, i.e. H.
  • Dispensing channel 36 extending in the longitudinal direction of the container, the cross section of which corresponds approximately to the cross section of the dispensing opening 17 and which is open towards the interior of the head piece (see FIGS. 1, 3, 8, 10 and 14 and 15).
  • the housing 10 is cylindrical, made of hard plastic, for example hard PVC.
  • the head piece however, consists of relatively soft and somewhat thin-walled plastic.
  • the head piece and housing can also be formed in one piece or integrally.
  • the training according to the invention of the head piece including the discharge valve allows such a production.

  • the top of the crosspiece 54 extends approximately parallel to the actuating surface 14 of the bellows-shaped head piece 15.
  • the crosspiece 54 is also projecting (projection 55).
  • the locking tab 32 can be opened in the direction of the arrow 53, specifically by releasing the locking connection between the locking projection 45 and the complementary locking receptacle 47. In a similar way, the locking tab 32 can be gripped between the thumb and index finger when the projection 55 is closed.
